I have greek yogurt with strawberries and walnuts. It's not super low-carb, but better than a lot of things. I'm watching my sugars, and they've been okay with this snack. I'm also trying to lower my carbs!

Cake is not worth it. Brownies are unsatisfying because you can only have a small amount.

Corners. But when will I get a carb like that. . . without an blood sugar spike.
-
That's so awesome.

Hi, I am pre-diabetes, and actively working to lower my numbers! Feel free to connect with me!

I'm glad to hear this, as I seem to have some issues the the Dawn phenomenon as well! Way to go!

The following post does a great job of explaining the beginning steps to losing weight. http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1080242/a-guide-to-get-you-started-on-your-path-to-sexypants/p1 Start by selecting a goal. At 300 pounds you could lose from 1-2 pounds per week by reducing your calories and moving more.…

Way to go! Welcome back!

A little piece of trivia: Dr. Jack Kevorkian, the famous advocate for physician assisted suicide follows a 500 calorie "calorie-restricted" diet.

Thanks.

Thanks for the info. . . I might try to get down that low. I tried today but seriously had the low-carb flu. So wabmester, what is your carb/fat/protein ratio?
-
I understand what you are talking about. I have read about calorie restriction for longevity. I think it is hard to open the conversation here because some people view it as a fad, or as a fringe thing. Also because eating disorders are so prevalent, many do not want to seem to encourage fasting even when part of a…

Black coffee. It's good for you! It may be an acquired taste. I've never used cream of sugar, so I don't feel like I am missing anything. For a lot of people coffee is really dessert.

I love my cheese.

You have described this era so well. Yes, I remember Ayds candy and all that.

Looking healthy and fit! That's awesome! Way to go you two!

Regarding the ability of nutritionists and doctors to give appropriate advice: Doctors don't have that much training on nutrition so what they know is based on their own curiosity, research and clinical experience. Nutritionists and registered dietitians have a lot of training, but also have a set of biases and beliefs.…

The reading I've done says 1 percent of body weight per week. At a higher weight you can lose weight faster than at a lower weight. I agree with amused Monkey that the benefits of losing weight slightly faster when you are heavier outweigh the drawbacks. The important thing is to have adequate calories (1200 or more) and…

Congratulations! You are on your way!

Congratulations!

Hi, Sounds like you are seriously underweight as you should weigh no less than 136 pounds and you are not taking in enough calories for your body. Since you've been through treatment you probably already know what to do, but doing it is the problem. Here are some steps you could take: 1. Set your goals on MFP for a…

Thanks for the feedback everyone!

Yes. For many people, this kind of thinking creates excellent results. . .

Yes, but the big corporations and their executives prefer to keep the money for themselves. A typical scenario is this: Big corporation has a concern. Hires a new CEO. New CEO fires thousands of people. Stockholders are happy. Employees take pay cuts. Two years later new CEO is out with big golden parachute. Repeat the…

Hi, Thanks for the response! I did take two more tests. One was two hours after eating quiche. The reading was 136. There were more than 20 grams of carbs in the quiche. I assume that the spike was later because of all the fat and protein. Now I just took another reading about an hour after a lower-carb lunch and I tested…

I've thought about getting a mini-trampoline/rebounder. Jumping sounds like more fun than walking in place. Also, I use a fitbit and try to get in 10,000 steps throughout the day. I take laps in my house, which is less annoying to me than walking on the treadmill. I have heard that Leslie Sansone has walking videos that…
