Awesome, supportive, informative response. I agree whole-heartedly. Sending warm cyber hugs as well.

Potatoes are awesome. As others have said, full of great nutrients. I think they are very filling and satisfying for the calories, and actually kind of a treat!

Potato chips with Top the Tater dip, nachos with cheese, chocolate, ice cream, crackers, freshly baked homemade bread with butter, cookies, muffins, donuts, cheesecake, brownies. Moderation can be difficult, but I am still attempting occasional moderation as I do not want to give up these foods for a lifetime. Too many…

40 grams of Old-Fashioned Oats with 1/4 tsp cinnamon, 10 grams walnuts, and 12 grams brown sugar. And maybe a few raisins, but I haven't had them around the house lately. If you have 20 grams of nuts per day that's good for your health. Happy Oatmeal!

So sorry for your loss! What an amazing story of resilience. Keep it up. Hope to see you here a year from now sharing your maintenance story!

Wow! Amazing loss! Good for you!

Congratulations on your amazing transformation. You look very healthy and fit!

Stationary bike, elliptical, swimming, and any kind of floor exercises you can do. Just moving is the most important thing!

Well, this is a very interesting discussion. People are very passionate about food, for sure. As I think about the various philosophies, I am mostly thinking about food as it pertains to health. Having recently been diagnosed with insulin resistance and with concerns about heart health, I am thinking about how IIFYM or…

We all have different motivations and concerns. For some of us the spark is health and well-being. For others it is appearance, and the desire to be attractive. For many of us, it is both. It's all good, and perhaps works best when we support each other even when our motivations are a bit different.

I tried the crust and thought it was fine. First I juiced the cauliflower to create the pulp for the crust as the key to cauliflower crust is making sure the pulp is as dry as possible. It didn't seem like that much work. I've read that some people will make several in a day and store them in the freezer. I haven't done…

Hello -- I have a big goal 135 pounds. Feel free to friend me. I have a lot of friends on my stream who have lost more than 100 pounds.

Hi, I can relate! One tool I learned is H.A.L.T. Learning to recognize whether you are hungry, angry, lonely or tired in the moment when you want to binge or overeat. So, right now I want to eat, but it is 11:00, and I had a big breakfast. I am not really hungry -- just tired and low dopamine. . . So, I'll force myself to…

You can get it at health food stores and also on Amazon. I made pumpkin muffins with it once. They were delicious!

Thanks to the fitbit, I discovered I have a low heart rate--a condition called Bradycardia. I was looking at the heart rate on the watch and it said 53, and I thought it must not be working properly. But then I used the clock to measure it and it was right on. Thanks fitbit! But I'm not sure how useful the fitbit will be…

After doing some reading recently I discovered that there are artificial sweeteners, and there are also sweeteners that fall into the category of sugar alcohols. One sugar alcohol that I use is Erythritol. It tastes good, has zero calories and does not raise blood sugar levels. It also has antioxidants. If you are looking…

In summary: 1. Many people suggest that you should see a counselor to help you with the anxiety you have around food 2. A few people have suggested ways for you to have more freedom around food such as preplanning the restaurant meals, and letting go of calorie counting altogether. 3. A few people have talked about the…

Big accomplishment! Keep up the great work on taking care of yourself!

These are the ways I reduce calories in the pizza I eat. Option 1: Thin crust vege pizza from Papa Murphy's (my favorite). Option 2: Cauliflower pizza crust (not bad) Option 3: Flatout pizza crust (perfectly fine and limits your calories) Option 4: Just eating one or two pieces.

I plan my day to incorporate a high protein snack in the evening. I eat greek yogurt, blueberries and walnuts almost every night. I have to plan my daily calories around my evening snack.

Usually there will be a whoosh. . . which lets you know this is exactly what was supposed to happen.

I think that whatever keeps you moving is what you should do. If you like the elliptical stick with it until you get bored. Or you could add other things to it and switch it up from time to time. One hour is a good amount of time. I once had a trainer who told me to lift three days per week, and on those days to reduce my…

In general, people cherry pick research to support their point of view. I definitely did this to make the point that Harvard University believes food addiction is important enough to write about, and that there is some very interesting research out there. I definitely do not have a corner on the truth. There is much more…

It's fine if you don't believe the research, and aren't interested in the investigation of sugar/food addiction, but you don't have a corner on the truth. It's definitely not nonsense.
-
Look, there are plenty of studies that indicate that highly palatable foods have addictive qualities. Even Harvard says so: http://hms.harvard.edu/news/addicted-food-7-3-13 It's fine if you don't believe the research and studies, but it's not fine to spread misinformation and make claims that something does or doesn't…

Weight Watchers is great if you like the support of face-to-face meetings. I started Weight Watchers around the same time as I started MFP. I logged at both sites for a while, but found the overall MFP site better and dropped WW since I didn't really want to go to meetings anyway. Many people are successful with WW, so I…

I usually have 7 grams of walnuts or almonds, which I actually measure. You could use any fruit you like. I have had yogurt with apples and sunflower seeds which is really awesome.
