I can't have excessive amounts of pasta/bread related products without feeling bloated and gassy...and generally just craptastic. Sugar is similar, but not as profound. If I eat too much (like cake and ice cream, or candy) I don't feel good - but I can't pin down what the 'not good' is, per se. I don't get bloated or…

Wow, there is some pretty amazing progress on this board - I'm so glad I opened this thread. So inspirational :)

I get myself some new clothes as needed so I don't generally use that as a reward. I hate clothes shopping so much that it's more of a punishment. I love having better fitting things, though, so I suck it up as needed :) My tops would be maybe a mani/pedi, massage, or some kind of new gadget (kitchen, fitness, etc. -…

:o That's a lot of meat!

OMGosh yum. Yum all day long, yum!

LOL - I am often sulking and fist-bumping in the same post :D

Welcome to SL! I love it (except squats, I don't love squats...I do however LOVE what squats do to your body!). I'm 5' 7.5" and I had my goal set to 1660 calories, but recently bumped it up to 1775. One difference is that I eat low carb, so that affects the balance quite a bit. I don't do hungry well. I've slowly lost…

Cardio day today - went for a 7 mile bike ride, 12.5 mph average. It was a beautiful morning for a ride! It weirdly, quickly turned to overcast, windy and super chilly by the time I got out of the shower - what a strange and fast change in atmosphere!! I'm so happy I got my lovely ride in before the change - it felt…

@Italiana_xx79 - You'll be fine once you get rolling along, just stick with it! Welcome back :) Today: I've been really struggling with the wake-ups again, not getting enough sleep. As a result I've dropped my 10 minute body movement warmups for now. I'm happy to be getting the lifts in, so when my sleep improves I'll add…

How long does that take?

@knit - as always, great info. I'll look into the BCAA's and see what I think about them. I also love the idea of day lamps. I don't have one, but I'm definitely considering it. @DorkothyParker - I'll check out the ketogains, thanks for the recommendation! I had to move my start day to today because of my heavy-on-potatoes…

Thank you! I always work out in the morning - but it was late and I somehow still did it. I did learn it's much easier to hop out of bed when you think you don't have time than it is to slowly wake up and get up lol. @mirrim52 - my daughter's emotional weakness peaks at bedtime (still) - if anything in the world went…

I tried butter in my coffee and it was not good. I must be the minority here...it doesn't gross me out or anything, I just really did not like it.
-
@KnitOrMiss - good idea on the snack before I leave! I have some pickles and some pork rinds here today, maybe I should take some to go and eat them on my way home. That could totally help the walk-through-the-door-and-head-for-eats stay at bay. As for the mag - I didn't try taking anything with it (salt/potassium wise).…

I don't mind the weight lifting gains slowing down. I've actually slowed them myself - I won't increase the amount I lift unless I'm totally comfortable with form and the amount of time it takes to get through lifts. This has made progress happen at snails' pace and I'm 100% comfortable with that. I've decided now to…
-
@knitormiss - I'm pretty sure I'm good on my mag levels - I've tried more than one variety (unfortunately the first being oxide). The citrate, in a half dose one time a day still has the 'run to the bathroom' effect on me. So I guess I'm one of the smaller percentage that's getting enough of it? I'm going to try drinking a…
-
@daylitemag - great idea, I LOVE shrimp so that would work well for me! I want to make some of those handy cheese crisp things, too. They seem like a good crunchy snack. @juliacougarrrr - I have only been "under 100" carbs...I'm headed into the 50-75 range now (like starting today LOL). I set my calories at 1660 but…

Parmesan roasted anything tastes good. Really. My kids eat anything I roast with parm.

@Sunny_Bunny_ I'm no special snowflake, and believe me I'm far from easily offended. Truth me. The story of the chips and/or ice cream seems to mostly be laziness on my part (for lack of a better word). I have no real need to eat them - the chips usually happen in 1 of 3 instances: 1. I'm packing my kids' lunches and I…

I do eat a good amount of plant based/natural foods - but for sure a good 25 of my total carbs is coming from crap (like random potato chips or ice cream). I don't go nutso on the junk food, but I will nibble at it. I am sure that cutting my carbs will be what sort of knocks the chips out of reach lol.
-
@wabmester - I think I'm still in an experimental frame of mind, so I'm going to start with your first suggestion. One question about this (related to calories). Do I continue to eat at the 1800 range that I've naturally been falling into, or do you think I should keep it around my initial goal. I'm inclined to say keep…
-
@samanthaluangphixay - I do lift regularly (Strong Lifts 3 days a week and Cardio 2-3 days a week). I have most definitely noticed an overall change in my appearance over time; however, no changes in the 2 months I was talking about. I can visibly see there is still room for improvement - I just think it's time to tweak…

I'm not really convinced that I need to do both, but if it worked out that way (by cutting the carbs) I wouldn't be opposed. What I do love about low carb is that I don't feel like I'm starving all the time, so it may happen naturally that my calories will dwindle if I force the carbs down.

Set my alarm for 6:45 instead of 5:45! I woke up at 5:07 and thought "still a few more minutes to sleep" and then woke up at 6:12 and flew out of bed. I managed to get my lifts in, but no time for body movement warmups. Squat: 2x5x45, 1x3x75, 5x5x115 OHP: 2x5x45, 5x5x70 Dead: 1x5x130 I was so proud of myself for jumping up…

I strongly dislike squats. That's it. I just don't enjoy them at all. They're hard! I've gotten better at them, but it took doing what @canadianlbs said - dropping weight. I dropped down much lower and then started working up again - only this time at snails' pace. I literally won't add even 5 lbs to my lift until I have…

((((good vibes)))) - Start small. Walk every day, a little further each day. Maybe knock out soda/sugary drinks to begin with. Those two things will get you rolling along. It's not a race, slow and steady is the way to go - and that's usually what makes weight loss stick. Finding a way to do it at a slower pace so that you…

This has happened to me before - especially when I first start. Most of the time some of it stays away for me - some doesn't. I've been in a constant state of fluctuating between the same 4 pounds for like 2 or 3 months now...I'd love to see a forever gone pound :|

I ended up skipping it - I was cleaning the house and ran out of time before we wanted to head out on our trip. So, I'll be back at it tomorrow. In the past I would beat myself up over missing a workout, but I feel ok this time around. Progress :)
-
So, for the first time in a while I missed some lifts. We went out of town and my regularly scheduled Saturday lift was not a possibility. Friday I cleaned in high speed for 4 hours so that we'd come back to a clean house - Saturday we golfed for 3 hours and played some ping pong. Yesterday just headed home and went…

Cut the carbs if you want - if you do, you need a sufficient amount of protein and fat. Fat will make you feel full. For me, it makes me feel much more full than carbs any day. My husband formerly called me his, "hungry girl" - I was always starving, even an hour after a meal. I am not zero carb, but I'm low-ish..around…
