I lost 50 lbs before coming to MFP using a different food diary (Go Meals). When I got a Fitbit I came to MFP so they could sync. I only just a few days ago added my weight that I had lost just prior and up to starting MFP. Why not? I lost it honestly, counting calories just like here. Why not give yourself the credit you…

I have always struggled with knee pain and it limited my ability to jog/run. But now that I do strength training, most specifically Squats, it is much better. Squats are very good for your hip flexor muscles and they strengthen your thigh/leg muscles very uniformly, so it does WONDERS for your knees. If you are not doing…

It is possible to eat healthy and eat a lot. I ate almost 2900 the other day, all healthy. Massive amounts of fruits and veggies, lean meats, very few processed foods/treats (a few cookies). No pizza, no pasta, no ice cream. In fact, because of my food allergies, no dairy or gluten or yeast. Large quantities of calories…

Awesome, that's great to know! However... I honestly can't find the filters of which you speak. When I go here: http://www.graze.com/us/products/browse I see categories of products on the left such as Dips, Flapjacks, etc. If I click on a single item I do find full nutritional info now (I swear it wasn't there when they…

How is it possible to NOT burn more than you eat on a 1500 calorie diet? That is so few calories. I wouldn't even need to get out of bed to burn more than that (my BMR is 1701). I guess I don't understand the question.

All your base are belong to meeeee.....!

If you have been eating way under your maintenance calories, then jumping up to maintenance is basically the same thing as a "metabolism reset" (eating at full maintenance for 8-12 weeks), which I am in the middle of doing. So I can speak to this topic.... I lost 70 pounds under eating (1300, then ramping through…

[Edit: I agree that will only a little to lose, TDEE minus 10% should be the max for you.] You have to account for exercise in the calories that you eat. Unless your body is *magic* and can exercise without requiring any fuel! (I swear, some people eat like they have magic bodies....) So there are two ways to ensure…

Graze Box annoys me. There isn't a single nutrition label anywhere on the website. How am I supposed to evaluate with no ingredients, no info, nothing? :explode: I have food allergies. I NEED to know what is in something before I order it. Grrrr

Congrats Debbie, that's an astonishing weight loss! That's more than 2 pounds a week, the ideal weight loss rate. Great work! You know, I have lost more than 70 lbs and I'm still not really used to it. Sometimes when I look in the mirror I look the same to myself. I don't see the loss. It takes a while to make the mental…

My answer is: nutrition. I no longer have the urge to eat after I'm full or the urge to binge. At least 90% of cravings are physiological. We are not as emotional eaters as we think. When I ate junk, even though I consumed many calories I was actually malnourished. When the body needs vital nutrient, minerals, amino acids,…

Massive amounts of veggies. Vegetables are low-calorie but very filling. Great health benefits too, have you heard? I get those big family-sized Green Giant steamfresh bags (with a yummy olive oil/herb or butter sauce). I cook that up, laugh at the "4 servings" and eat the whole dang bag. :drinker:

True. That's why you should never diet. The whole concept of "diet" is flawed. The whole idea of making a temporary change to achieve permanent results is madness. As a matter of fact, many credit the diet industry with being the cause of the obesity epidemic. That's right: DIETING IS THE ROOT CAUSE OF OBESITY in America.…

Since I've been tracking and eating healthy, most was 2800 or 2900 I think.... and it was painful. That was mostly veggies and fruits and I thought my tummy was going to pop. But back when I ate junk food and didn't track.... god only knows.

Are you certain that you are getting enough calories? The affects of under-eating are insidious.... I ate 1200-1300 for months and thought I was okay. Finally symptoms like constant fatigue and cold all the time and nails chipping and hair falling out etc. piled up on me. Now I am eating at my full TDEE and I have BUCKETS…

Awesome work! You look great!

Everyone looks amazing, it's so encouraging to see all of the progress!!

I started losing in Sept 2012, but I could only find a full-body pic from Dec. 2010 (weight was same). Sorry my pic from yesterday is so fuzzy... Although my ticker doesn't reflect it right now (set for maintenance b/c I'm doing a reset), I still have about 50+ pounds to go....

I'm glad my ramblings made sense. :P I would advise you to eat at 1787 (and net that by eating back exercise calories) as quickly as possible to minimize weight gain. Since your body is primed to gain when you increase and since it takes 3-8 weeks for your body to adjust to a change in calories, the longer that you take to…

This is good advice. If you are going to eat below TDEE, don't eat less than 5% below, since you only have 5 more pounds to lose. If you have a ton of extra weight, the body is not too stressed about a 20% deficit. But when you have so little "safety buffer" of only 5 pounds to lose, 20% deficit is much more alarming to…

I ate 1200-1300 for many months. I felt fine. Until I didn't feel fine.... the symptoms of under-eating kind of crept up on me. Now that I have been eating more for a few months, my nails are just now starting to get back to normal. But my hair still falls out more than it should. I am able to keep warm now. And most of…

I have once a month. I spend less on cleaning service than my cell phone bill.

Stronglifts 5x5 is a great program. Simple, but effective! And has an app to track your workouts. There is a MFP group: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/4601-stronglifts-5x5-for-women

I don't clean, I hire a cleaning service. Life is short!! :flowerforyou:

You should force yourself to eat more if you are trying to lose weight. 900 calories is not enough to feed a scrawny 9-year-old-girl. (If you need ideas, you can check out my diary. I usually eat about 2500 a day.) You have hit on the secret to healthy living: When you upgrade your food from junk to healthy, nutrient-dense…

I get the best of both worlds. I have problems digesting and absorbing, but I don't juice. I do however, I use a NutriBullet to pulverize greens/fruits/veggies/seeds/nuts to make smoothies. So I drink the juice and fiber and pulp and everything (you can see my morning smoothies in my open diary). So I am able to absorb the…

That happened to me! I had a moment of panic when we got seated at a booth the other day because in a booth the table is bolted to the floor so you can't push it out to get more room. But to my surprise I fit behind the booth just fine. So surreal. And when I look at the size on my jeans that doesn't really register with…

Wow, I can so relate to everything that you all are saying. I'm learning some things and it's helping me. For example, I need to start buying clothes that actually fit the new me instead of swimming around in my old clothes that are now miles too big. And I need to take pictures -- its true that I don't see 70 lbs gone…

That is great to hear about your knees! That is really encouraging for me to hear. I have always had troubles with my right knee. I wore a knee brace for years when I was a teen. I have never been able to run/jog because of knee issues. But... I think Stronglifts will condition my thighs more uniformly (I have…

Oh wow..... that was an amazing article. Wow. I'm still in shock. You have just given me a reason to fight harder to get myself into bed.... Thank you for posting
