Crash and Braveheart. Not recent, but egregious because they both won best picture oscars.

I make yogurt from skim milk and eat daily with fresh fruit, cinnamon, walnuts and flax seed meal. I've made greek yogurt but much prefer the regular, and my homemade is tastier than anything I've bought in stores. It is fairly simple to do and I've made a batch or two a week for many years. My favorite yogurt to use as a…

Your post was excellent. Thanks.

I got a carnitas burrito with guacamole there the other day because it was raining and I didn't want to walk to my usual place. It was pretty tasty and I can see getting them once in a while now that I'm in maintenance mode, but if I am to believe the MFP listings, it had more than 2,500 mg of sodium. WTF?

I set my activity level to sedentary and generally tried to eat back my exercise calories when I was losing weight (I'm in maintenance mode now after losing 22 pounds in four months--I'm 5'9" and 162 pounds). However, I didn't eat those calories back when I didn't feel like it. On a weekly basis, I was usually slightly…

This looks great! Though I know oatmeal is good for me, I've stopped eating it because it makes me feel famished an hour or so after breakfast. Maybe with some things like flax seed meal and nuts I can stretch out how full it makes me feel, and this tool looks very helpful. Thanks!

Bugs Bunny! WTF! A few mentioned Looney Tunes, but how can the greatest cartoon of all not get specifically noted?

I have cinnamon almost every morning with my yogurt because I like the taste. My doc says it's a good idea and it certainly does no harm, but I'm not sure if it has any real impact on my metabolism. So if you like the taste, go for it.

I'm too stupid and lazy to post a GIF, so just picture Mr. Burns saying "Excellent".

Pure distilled water and distilled alcohol spirits to keep from polluting my sacred bodily fluids. I can no longer sit back and allow Communist infiltration, Communist indoctrination, Communist subversion, and the international Communist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids. Do you realize that…

Good point. I always have other fats in my salads from sources such as nuts, avocados, and/or cheese to promote absorbtion and the study concludes that amount rather than source of lipids appears most important. In any case, thanks for pointing this out to those whose salads don't have other fats in them. I very rarely eat…

OMG, I get a huge bucket o' Kirkland cashews thinking I'm good for a month or two, blink, and they are gone. I'm pretty sure it's evaporation.

Not much for sports movies and don't even follow hockey, but I loved "Slap Shot". Paul Newman is great in it and who can forget the Hanson brothers? Everyone here apparently, but still, worth a view. Funny with an edge.

There once was a thread that asked what our bad eating habits were, and after thinking about it for a while, the answer for me was all of them. I'm not a purist, but have come to realize that there is very little produced by processed food manufacturers that helps me attain reasonable health and fitness goals. I read an…

I'm not a snob about it, but I have made my own yogurt for years. I use skim milk and my favorite yogurt to use as a base culture is made by Seven Star Farms. I have a very basic Salton yogurt maker and it's very easy. There is lots of info online on how to do it, but I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have. All…

I bike to work. Gotta to get there anyway, so two birds with one stone. I actually look forward to going to work. And then leaving.

Oops--you don't have to soak the lentils in the recipe I posted above. Just rinse dry lentils, toss them in, cook 'em and you're good to go.

Yes! It's not for everyone but biking outside works for me. Food scale too, but if you can safely bike in your area, it's better than something that will just sit in your house.

If you're trolling, you got me 'cause I'll answer you seriously. Can't comment on the medical aspects but if it is any consolation, I've had two colonoscopies and they were totally painless--they're not using a big old Nikon or anything. The first one I had was interesting. They got me all ready in a medical gown and…

Looks pretty good. Yeah, you have a sweet tooth, so there's that. A piece of dark chocolate once in while works for me. How are you feeling on this diet? Are you getting results? I ask because I used to eat oatmeal in the AM and it would make me ravenous so I would overeat at lunch. What works for me is not having a lot of…

I have a Timex and think it is about 50% high on cals burned (for men at least). So yeah, it's totally unreliable and the Polar I had before was better.

Spicy Lentil and Sweet Potato Stew with Chipoltes This is a recipe from the 2/26/2013 New York Times "Recipes for Health" section. While it is written for stove top cooking, it could easily be made in a crock pot. It is very tasty with sweet and spicy elements along with high fiber. The NYT intro: "The sweetness of the…
