  • @RespectTheKitty We are running the same 5K on Thanksgiving! It's a great race and it always sells out. Maybe I'll see you there :)
  • I totally want the new Forerunner 35. It's not super complicated but it does everything I need it to do. It's a very new Garmin model released few weeks ago so I'm not sure a lot of people have it to give you a fair review. I would compare both 35 and 235 on Garmin site and DC Rainmaker reviews on his website.
  • Last month's goal was 50 miles, finished 53.4 miles. Goal reached. This month doing 60 miles. I ran 6.2 miles yesterday and it felt really good. Longest run so far is 7 miles. My 1st 10K is this Saturday and HM Nov 26th. I'm giddy excited and nervous
  • Amazing job! Being a beginner runner, your post rings in my heart :) <3
  • 49/50 miles. Will pass my goal for this month as I still have few runs left before Saturday. I'm loving the cooler weather for running
  • Go for the 5K. Run 1 min, walk 1min. Repeat, repeat.
  • I use MapMyRun, it's free and works well for me. It integrates seamlessly with MFP. However, as I'm getting into longer runs and more pace-specific training runs for my first Half marathon. I'm really wanting to upgrade to a GPS running watch, like Garmin. It's such a hassle having to check your phone all the time for…
  • I'm waiting for Garmin Forerunner 35 to be released in the fall. It's a GPS watch with optical HRM. I will use it primarily for running. It looks sleek and has a great battery life.
  • Hi all! New here and beginner runner. I decided to reach out and find some running friends to help with my motivation and accountability. I've been dabbling with running in the past, mostly for fitness. I was never able to keep up with running in the winter. I ran a few 5Ks but nothing longer, 10:30 min pace, not fast by…
  • First I used a plastic container with a lid but then I went to a Dollar Tree for some Bday ballons and saw mason jars. I bought a couple and I must say I love them. I layer oats with yogurt, milk and fruit and it looks awesome. The lid stays tight and sealed.
  • Your diet is spot on, you lost weight, you are physically active. All these changes have not brought your cycles back so you need to rethink your plan of action. Stop looking at the "nutrition side" of it and start researching medical treatments and PCOS physiology. Arms yourself with knowledge, find a good reproductive…
  • Weight loss became much easier once I switched to combo T4/T3 meds. Switched from Synthroid to Nature-throid. Once your thyroid levels are optimized, by that I mean Free T4 and Free T3s, weight will come off if you follow calorie counting. It might be slower compared to a person without hypothyroidism but it will happen.…
  • I was getting big discrepancies on my workout calories as well so I bought a HRM with a chest strep a while back. I also wear my Fitbit Zip and keep it for workouts to get step count. For reference last night I compared some calories burned for a 3 mile interval run/walk. Mapmyrun overestimated calories burned the most.…
  • I agree Fitbit Zip is really all you need and it runs around $50 in most stores, very worth the $$. Mine is very accurate with regards to steps, I linked it with MFP and have sedentary settings with calorie adjustments. I really like mine and had it for 2+ years. I actually just purchased a new one because I recently lost…
  • Good luck, that looks positively tough. BFBM is my nemesis. I hate it the whole time I'm doing but love the feeling when I'm done, it also gets results. NMTZ is my fav. But both combined on Day 28? Looong workout there
  • What a bad marketing name for an activity tracker - Misfit
  • 5'9" and goal of 150 lbs, size 6-8. It's my really, comfy number. Anything lower and I can't maintain it and anything higher than 155 just doesn't feel right. Now I'm at 174 and slowly losing my 3rd pregnancy weight. I've managed to get down to 150 after each pregnancy and I can't wait to get there again. But, I refuse to…
  • After my workout one day I was craving a late night snack but we had nothing good in the house. It was the end of the week and grocery shopping was going to happen next day. I rampaged through the cupboards and stopped at the "baby food" drawer. I polished off half a tub of baby puffs, 2 teething biscuits, a jar of pureed…
  • Buying a wedding dress 2-3 sizes smaller is very risky. But from personal experience it's the best motivator. I got measured for a size 12 dress but ordered a 10, 6 months before a wedding. I had to sign a waver with the bridal store but I was determined to lose weight. In that time I lost 15 lbs, toned up and the size 10…
  • Angina, or chest pain/discomfort typically occurs with exertion (exercise would count), secondary to poor blood flow to the heart. It can progress to unstable angina, which is chest pain at rest- a much worse scenario and most likely secondary to some serious blockage or vasospasms in heart vessels. Chest pain can be a…
  • Can you get up earlier than your son in AM and do a workout video? Jillian Michael's 30 day shred is only 20 min and all 3 levels are available free on Youtube. Many people had great results with her workouts. I used to do them regularly when I had no access to a gym.
  • Mom of 3 here, working full time and my 7 month old is a horrible sleeper so I'm pretty exhausted all the time. Finding time and motivation to exercise is very hard but I really want to lose the baby weight by summer. 20 lbs to pre-preggo weight and another 10 lbs to where I really can be comfortable with my body.
  • I could use some fitbit friends. https://www.fitbit.com/user/24CC26
  • I used to walk around with a HR of low 40s for many years. I felt sluggish, cold, dizzy at times and I drank coffee all day long. It made me feel better probably because it raised my HR a bit. My GP pretty much dismissed my concerns and chucked it up to being young and fit. I did used to workout regularly then and had a…
  • If you keep telling yourself you are a "picky eater", then your actions will follow. You are an adult, you know the benefits of certain foods, such as fruits/vegetables. I have no doubt you are a wonderful parent and would like your children growing up and eating healthy, nutritious foods which should include plenty of…
  • I've been doing it sporadically last month but really want to commit and do it regularly. Starting tomorrow, Monday is a good day to start
  • There are ways to cut calories in Starbucks drinks if you really want to. Besides the sugar-free syrups which I tend to stay away from Nonfat milk, no whip- no brainer Half syrup in flavored drinks-still sweet enough and I much prefer it like this now Smaller size- they can make a short version of anything. 8 oz of full…
  • I started on Monday so day 3 for me. So far so good. I'm planning on adding 30 min of cardio 2x a week probably on weekends.
