Fellow thyroid issue sufferer here. Your body can exhibit signs of hypOthyroidism, despite being in the hypER TSH range. It might be on the down swing of your thyroid gland sputtering out. At this point, you'll be told to watch and wait, and have blood redrawn in several weeks to see if your levels change at all. It sucks,…

I'd love to read an update!

I get sad for new dieters that work so hard to do "the right thing," and limit themselves to 1200 and don't eat the exercise calories back. They get frustrated with themselves easily, get ravenously hungry, and don't understand why their body demands food, and they give into a binge. It's frustrating just starting out.…

Just parse out what you like vs. what you can't stand doing. Start out with something pleasurable to do, and it will fall into place. You'll do fine!

When my symptoms began to present, I literally thought I was going to die. I had the heart palpitations, was getting cold and my fingers and toes would turn blue (Reynaud's Phenomenon). I had what is called "brain fog," and I'd get terribly confused and I could tell my reaction time was definitely slow. I had difficulty…

OP: Do you run at all? Are these shin splints, maybe? Everyone else: if you have issues with swelling / edema, try compression stockings when you know you're going to be on your feet for a long time. That'll help keep the pooling from being too annoying. Definitely try to keep those tootsies elevated.

It's all a continuum. Just get back on the horse and shave a few calories here and there to make up for it if you can't find the time to exercise off the cheat day. And if you don't? Don't beat yourself up. Just keep meeting your goals afterwards.

I have a friend whose starting weight was in the 300 range (granted, she's over 6 feet tall) but she's really slimming down now that she's graduated college. She really is inspiring. Other people obviously didn't feel the same way, because a moving car threw a soda at her as she was *LEAVING THE GYM!* How awful! She was…

Not from taking it, no. But I know that edema is a symptom of being hypothyroid, and that can cause leg pain. Perhaps you're not in the optimal range just yet? Do you have blood draws often / are you current? It's a pain in the *kitten* going every 6 weeks, but it's worth it to avoid the alternative symptoms.

Hair loss was one of the first symptoms I had of Hypothyroidism. It's easy enough to get a blood draw done. Beyond that, check for vitamin deficiencies? Good luck!

I injured myself running a few months ago, and got totally discouraged. Now that I'm feeling better, I'm giving it another go! This time, I'll make sure to wear proper shoes, and not try to be a hero and keep going when something doesn't feel right and I hear a "squish" coming from my joints. Welcome back to the other…

Hey, no offense, but you don't know if the guy really is "able bodied" or not. He might be on cardiac rehab, and not cleared to do high intensity work outs. Focus on yourself, and let him do him.

I think each of you is being unreasonable in different ways. He is being unreasonable by not being supportive, but you by asking him to go out of his way to get you a separate meal. Why not just have a snack / salad at home before you depart to fill up on? That won't inconvenience him whatsoever, and you get what you want…

No, the OP is confused about whether a HRM takes into account the daily organ functions in addition to the exercise calories, or if the HRM adjusts for it in its reading. It's reasonable and responsible to know, and plan accordingly.

I told my husband I would come back and haunt the hell out of him if Amazing Grace gets played. So over-done.

Yikes, woman.

As does she.

I'd chat with a doctor. I don't believe it's recommended to lose weight while pregnant, only maintain. Don't do anything drastic!

nothing yet, he's still sleeping.
