I agree with this. I think of it this way: If I left my MFP account open (or email, facebook, etc.) and hubby saw it, would he get upset about an interaction I had with someone? OR, in turn, if hubby left his account open and I saw it, what would upset me? I try to speak kindly and give compliments while making sure it's…

Very well put

I do agree with this, but I suppose to each their own. I, personally, prefer to feel full & have energy. If you LIKE to feel hungry & weak all the time, then cheers to you. I'm in it to not only lose the weight but become strong and healthy and develop a lifestyle that I can sustain for the rest of my life. Best wishes and…

Lol!! I apologize for stealing your thunder :flowerforyou:

Congrats on your success!! And congrats to all of you working towards running longer. I have two things to add: 1. You are a runner the moment you start training to run. Doesn't matter how fast you go, or if you have to take walking breaks. You ARE a runner and you're doing great!!! 2. It doesn't matter if other people are…

I agree, cottage cheese is a GREAT source of protein and you can add frozen fruits to it for added benefits and it's delicious. Tuna is good tossed into salads (and maybe then you can't taste it as much). I've also read that Edamame (a vegetable) is a good source of soy proteins (see link:…

I Googled "low fat, high protein" and found this link with a list of "easy low-carb, higher protein snacks." Hope this helps! :flowerforyou: http://lowcarbdiets.about.com/od/whattoeat/a/snacks.htm

Your calculations look good (based on my experience... I am NOT a doctor or dietician)! I would suggest upping your calorie goal to 1450 (eat back any exercise too). Make sure your additional calories are made up of lean proteins and good fats (chicken, fish, nuts, dairy, etc.). And DON'T despair after one week where you…

My pleasure! We are all here to support each other

Try this website for a good BMR calculator: http://www.fitnessfrog.com/calculators.html It sounds to me like you are eating too little. Do you exercise after work? Also, you don't have to eat a TON of food to add good, nutritious calories. Try a handful of almonds or nuts, or some lean protein. Your body will thank you for…

This is really well put, thank you!! I also wanted to add some information that has been shared on several other threads: It is very unrealistic for most people to lose 2 pounds per week, unless they have A LOT to lose. If you are only looking to lose 10-20 pounds, you really need to aim for 1 pound or less per week.…

This is me! I have "Weigh In Wednesdays" and log what the scale says. I take best of 3 though... just in case... lol!! I like doing it Wednesdays because my weekends are where I have my spike days and more intense workouts. Mondays and Tuesdays are usually more moderate,so I feel it evens out. Some weeks I go up a little,…

^^^ This! Except, the "5-year old" is my husband. The man cannot wrap his mind around the fact that even if it's healthier it still can taste good. I can get him to eat something and he will love it until he sees the box and realizes it's lower calorie/healthy food. He also rolls his eyes at me when we cook dinner and I'm…

I think maybe you need a good run too. You seem very tense. You asked for feedback and got it. I didn't read anything that was outright rude; people were simply stating their opinions. Maybe just take it with a grain of salt and move on? Or if you can't, don't post in forums like this. These responses are normal, if not…

Don't stop believing  edit: ^^ Damn, I'm SLOW today! I must be a midnight dreamer... Ok, I'm done.

Given the information you provided, my best advice would be rest a couple days (and that means actual rest as in NO Zumba or Wii). Also, try some Epsom Salt baths. They are amazingly wonderful! (google Epsom Salt Bath to find out details) If you have just recently started doing 5/6 days per week or that was the longest…

LMAO! That made me snort, thank you.

You are one smart cookie!! I love the way you explained this. Best answer yet :flowerforyou:

This one's also really good!

There are so many ways of doing this, it really is personal preference, I think. However, I think that MFP calculates calories a little bit low for people. I've checked a lot of other sites for calculations and they are more consistent and make more sense. This website is really helpful in calculating and explaining a lot…

It looks to me like you have your BMR right. What I do is eat just slightly over my BMR (that is NET any exercise calories as well). I've read many times that you shouldn't eat under your BMR or your metabolism could slow down. You could also take your TDEE and subtract 10-20% and make that your daily goal. If you do it…

Excellent Mini-Challenge! I'm in! Not sure how well I'll do, but I'll give it my all

I say do what you want, don't judge others for their decisions, relax, take a deeeeep breath and and try some meditation. You seem stressed. :flowerforyou:

^^^ This It's a personal preference, though. I would recommend doing what is easiest and most comfortable to you at this point. You can always add in additional 'tweaks' and items to track once you're more used to logging & eating healthier. Best of luck!

I'm in too. I need a mini goal to focus on! CW: 135.6 GW: 125.6 Let's do it!!

Google Epsom Salt Bath. Do it 2-3 times per week. It's relaxing and amazingly helpful with sore muscle issues. Enjoy! :flowerforyou:

I used to HATE tomatoes... unless they were in ketchup or cooked until they were so smooshy I couldn't tell they were there. Now, I like to eat the little cherry ones as a snack, and I actually crave it in a lot of my foods. Who knew?!

I agree that less processed is better, but sometimes you don't have time/money/desire to make your own but want something that tastes sweet... I like Luna bars. Here's a link to their Nutritional information. http://www.lunabar.com/products/ingredients/ I think the Clif Bar company does a good job balancing nutrition and…
