Here's an interesting article on the difference in calories burned in people who weigh differently. Not only is there a weight difference factor but there's a difference factor for if you're good at the activity you're doing. If you've had a lot of practice, your body doesn't exert the same amount of effort as if you're…

^^^ Precisely! Once you get used to pushing through it, the rewards are great. Best of luck! :flowerforyou:

A White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Clif Bar. 250 Calories, 4 grams of Fiber, 9 grams of Protein... keeps me full till lunch AND it tastes like I'm having a cookie for breakfast! I can never get up early enough to make something like an omelete, so this is my happy substitute. That and coffee. Cheers to healthy, filling,…

REAL exercise?? I'm sorry but if you are putting in the effort, raising your heartrate and keeping it raised for a good amount of time, then you are still getting a good cardio workout regardless of whether it's on a machine or outdoors. I'm not 100% sure what you mean by "real thing" but I'm 100% certain that running your…

ROTFLMAO!

 I literally just laughed till I cried when I read this... This thread is awesome!! I work in an extremely small office where there is only a one-stall bathroom for girls and same for the guys... I'm one of two girls who works there... The other girl does the walk of shame a LOT... quite awkward... :noway:

flabbergasted  I like this thread... fun!

I know a lot of women who were regularly active and stayed that way through their entire pregnancies. Here are a couple links with good info for you. I'm also ttc and I plan on keeping up on my running. I say listen to your body and do what feels best. http://www.babycenter.com/0_running-during-pregnancy_7877.bc…

I think that's a great way to look at it! I did my exercise this morning also and I'm ready to relax and enjoy and be thankful. Happy Thanksgiving!! :flowerforyou:

I love pumpkin cheesecake! And I agree... it's the holidays for goodness sake. Just add a bit more exercise and enjoy the delicious food. Eat, drink & be merry for the holidays :drinker:

Wow! I have always been a HUGE advocate of water-drinking... if my husband says he feels bad, or something hurts, I always ask him if he's had any water lately... he jokes that I think water would cure cancer... lol! I have to show him this... Where did you get these numbers/facts? I'd like the link so I can show him how…

Congratulations!!! What a great accomplishment!

True. It is a difficult thing to "just have one" of something good. I agree, I don't keep it at home either. But I think it's important people know that it is possible to have the things/flavors they want without feeling horrible and if the willpower is there, then have one. Being healthy is important, but so is enjoying…

I agree with the above. Fruit is a really good substitution for the bad stuff. I have an apple a day and it really helps. I will add that it's also good to have just a little of your favorite thing on a regular basis. Don't deny your cravings all the time or you'll end up bingeing. Just have a little bit instead of a…

You're almost halfway to your goal!! That's gotta be motivation right there! I think it may be good for you to make a list of all the reasons, and I mean ALL the reasons, that you want to get in shape. Write them down on poster board and put them in your workout room, right in front of your treadmill or wherever you do…

It's happened to me after several really good speed workouts on the treadmill. I always thought it was just me... you're right though, usually a couple days later I have a loss. Not sure why. Add me if you like. I'm also looking to lose just over 30. I'm a fan of running and eating healthy to achieve my goals. Take care!…

What is good for one person may not be good for another. What works for one person may not work for another. I find it's best to do what works for me and let others worry about what works for them. Good luck in your journey

That really brightened up my day... thank you!!

I am doing the Ward Parkway Thanksgiving Day 5K Run/Walk... I almost signed up for the Sprint one, but then I saw that I could opt for a 10" pumpkin pie instead of a race shirt. So now I can run my 5K and take home desert for the family! The Groundhog Run in January is really neat too, I've done it the last two…

^^^^ Yes ^^^^ Cardio is amazing for your circulatory system, your heart, lungs, digestion, etc. Do it because it's good for you and it will improve your quality of life!

as hard as it is, the only thing you can do is... just do it. I find that when I get home it's best if I hop right onto the treadmill or into my workout routine. My best advice would be DON'T sit down until you've had your workout. Start with small, doable goals. Small changes are easier to sustain. You can do it!

Heck yeah! And lots of ice cream makers offer the little individual sized cups of ice cream now... Edy's, Haagendaas, you name it. Go get one, they're awesome! Keep up the great work

And good luck, Karisbear, I know nothing about negotiating with 2-year-old terrorists. I wish you the best!

Welcome!! You've come to the right place. We are all here to help each other. You can do it! Never give up!

I know what you mean... for me, personally, I go through phases. One week I'm extra motivated and I exercise every day and eat tons of fruits and veggies and am just... well, good! The week after, I feel lethargic and completely lazy and un-motivated and gain it all back. Over the years, this has been my cycle. Sometimes…

I think that sounds like an interesting way of trying things and I think it's great you're trying something new instead of giving up!! Try using a few different calorie calculators and/or formulas and maybe take an average of them all... I've used this one in the past and it's pretty decent:…

I really like to do a high fiber English muffin with a couple tablespoons of peanut butter. It is higher fat, but they're the good kinds of fat (in my humble opinion). I also enjoy Clif Bars, you could always keep a wrapped one in your pocket and take bites throughout the morning... they're very healthy and filling as…

Nice. Very well-written!! I do the thing where I walk when cars drive by too... it's why I bought a treadmill for my home. Maybe I'll venture out this weekend and show off my running skills... maybe not. Either way, great article!
