Can't stand sardines with all the little bones and guts and YUCK. Actually most fish and shellfish stuff makes me sick on sight but I like grilled salmon and tuna. Maccaroni and cheese = EWWW too.

Health food store should have chia seeds but if not they're on Amazon. I use ground chia in my morning smoothie, although it should probably be called a pudding because between the flax, the chia, and the hemp seeds it comes out so thick I put it in a bowl and eat it with a spoon =) But there are lots of other ways to use…

Gluten and all forms of dairy are severely inflammatory to my body and are absolutely NO for me. Both trigger migraines, muscle spasms, joint pain and stiffness, digestive system disruption, bloating, bags under my eyes, and skin breakouts that go on for up to 2 weeks. Didn't have a clue until last year when I got an…

I've changed my diet considerably over the past 4 years and adopted many anti-inflammatory foods in the process. I have both the quality of life and extensive blood test improvements showing that it's worked. Plus I love the foods I'm eating now and get sick of the thought of the garbage I used to put in my body!

Good grief. Their behavior says it all about THEM and is not about you. Go on out there and run with pride! There is a jerk in my neighborhood who used to taunt me and yell nasty things at me when I was heavy. One day he yelled, "HERE COMES OLE FAT @$$!!!" I yelled back, "Well my fat @$$ can get skinnier but your DUMB @$$…

Been there done that. I went up to about 180 at most in my 3 pregnancies. But in my 40's things got seriously out of control and I was up to 220 for awhile. Perimenopause, high stress levels, depression, terrible eating habits, severe knee injury, plantar fasciitis in both feet, repeated bouts of blood clots in my legs, no…

I hearya. Thought it would be impossible to change my ways in my late 40's but finally succeeded. Some of it was forced on me by my health deteriorating so badly - and finding out that gluten and dairy were the main culprits. Once I found myself succeeding in losing weight and getting healthier though, I no longer wanted…

Truth!! I'm all the proof you need. I used to eat fast food and drink sodas like every day, and I weighed 215 pounds. Then I started eating berries and nuts and sometimes even bananas instead. Now I weigh 125. That's how fat those evil fruit calories have made me =(

I lost over 90 pounds in my late 40's, am now 50. For the first couple of years I was afraid my skin would stay loose forever but it has tightened up nicely. My doctor said diet has a lot to do with it, and to emphasize a wide range of vitamins and healthy fats. Something has worked. I no longer look like a sad two-legged…

I think some people feel they need to go to extremes in order to change old habits, so the low-carb approach helps them establish new rules to live by in order to lose weight. They usually don't have a long-term perspective on it but are focused on making the *number on the scale* go down as fast as possible. If it works…

Fridge: almond milk (store bought or homemade), coconut water, Garden of Life RAW Protein Powder, ground chia, flax, and hemp seed, avocados and fresh greens, onions, tomatoes, usually some kind of prepped beans, quinoa, rice, chicken, and fish, and a dozen different gluten-free baking flours. Freezer must have plenty of…

Garden of Life makes a great protein powder based on a variety sprouted seeds. I use it in my smoothies. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0031JK96C/ref=ox_ya_os_product

Yes, I've been using chia seeds for awhile. They're a great source of fatty acids, fiber, and other nutrients, and they're not as estrogenic as flax seed. I grind them up and use in my breakfast smoothie to help my digestive system.

I just started walking. Kept walking more and more - as much as 3 hours a day towards the end of my serious "lose it" efforts. Lost over 90 pounds just walking and eating more intelligently. Now that I'm light and bouncy I mostly jog. But either way, I keep going.

Nope, you aren't beyond help. I fiddle-farted around with half-baked "diet" dreams that went nowhere fast until I found myself in a life-threatening health crisis. Then I changed my ways very quickly indeed. Learn from my mistake, please. Start taking care of yourself NOW - don't wait until you're getting blood clots in…

Hah... my doctor got some free trials of the raspberry ketones so she gave me a 30 day supply and she tried it at the same time. It didn't do squat for either of us other provide something to chat about when walking our dogs together.

Milk, yogurt, and other dairy products are also infamous for causing bloat

Been there done that. To me, I looked the same at 120 pounds as I did at 220 pounds: fat & ugly =( About 4 years of therapy later I can now see and appreciate the positive changes I've made with my body. It's interesting how much our perception can be distorted just by what we've learned to believe, and how it can change…

I didn't need a "book diet" to lose over 90 pounds and haven't needed one to maintain, either. All I did was finally focus on eating for health, calorie balance, and exercise.

I use the Silk Unsweetened Almond Milk and have ended up preferring it to the sweetened version. Sometimes I make my own almond or cashew milk, too. It's easy and eliminates additives, and sometimes I just enjoy the process, but I haven't found homemade to save me on cash *or* calories =)

Unfortunately there are a lot of people in the world who mainly elevate their perception of themselves by stomping on others.

I was a loner and still am.

My doctor said it's not unusual for people who are sensitive to gluten to also be sensitive to dairy. In my case I was getting horrible headaches and other symptoms (had for years but didn't know why!) so when I finally went to her she told me to eliminate both immediately. She said stay off both for minimum 6 weeks, then…

I have to stay gluten-free and dairy-free or I suffer the consequences. Both of those foods trigger migraines, digestive problems, and hormonal problems for me. It takes attention to detail to fully eliminate the offending food from your diet but in my experience it's been worth it. My best friend has Hashimoto's and ended…

I've learned to substitute exercise for eating ;-)

Heaviest: 220 (01/2008) Lightest: 120 (03/2011) (not a good look on me) Current: 125 (happy with this) Goal: 122-128 (been maintaining nicely around 125)

I prefer to eat raw veggies plain. Even salads. =)

I only count it if my BMF records it as "moderate" activity level. Most of the time it doesn't, soooo... no, lol

Classic, lol. I put "140" on my DL, but I weighed 155 at the time. I had lost a lot of weight at that point and was still losing at a good clip, so I considered it my own personal challenge to get down to 140 and cure the lie. Now I'm 125... o.0
