You look awesome!

Hmm I'm not too sure what exactly will work for you... it sounds like you are doing a lot of the right things. Unfortunately my own weight loss stalled after I went off of the birth control pill, and didn't start again until I started metformin last month. I have someone on my friends list who is taking her blood sugars…

I have my macros set to 50% fat - 25% carbs - 25% protein - so whatever that works out to be. I'm pretty good at sticking fairly close to that.

You really just have to play around with it til you figure out what works for you. I have my macros set to 50% fat, 25% carbs and 25% protein, but I wasn't losing any weight on this until I went on to metformin. (I am back to losing weight now) I don't eat any added sugar if I can avoid it. I don't have a set goal for…

W.T.F. There are no words for this. I want to slap her for you and I don't even really know you!

I have 4 kg to go (so about 9 pounds) to my goal, and I eat 1500 calories per day plus most of my exercise calories (some days all of them, other days not all of them - going by whether I'm still hungry pretty much) I think I'm eating pretty close to what my maintenance calories would be at goal weight, just a bit less.…

I'm seeing a naturopath, and she originally recommended gluten-free, sugar-free, no dairy, low-carb. I have stuck with a low carb, high protein, high fat, no sugar diet and actually really like it. I feel much better on it than I did before. I also try to eat very little gluten, if any, because I think that helps to stick…

My goal is about 130 lbs, I'm currently at 140 lbs and I think I'd actually be happy to be 140 but with more muscle definition. I think I will probably keep going to try to get to 130, and then work on building muscle, and if that takes me back up to 140 but with better tone then I'm perfectly happy with that.

I did it on my underarms. It was a bit painful but not too bad, and less painful with each treatment. Unfortunately the effects weren't permanent... lasted about a year and a a half. I'm told that that is common with PCOS. Apparently the only permanent hair removal for women with PCOS is electrolysis, but I haven't had…

Hi :) Good idea! I'm doing well... I'm a student at the moment (forensic science) but it's break between semesters so I really have a lot of extra time to concentrate on my fitness and health which is good.

I would definitely see a physio. They can help you with exercises not just that you can do, but that can actually HELP your issues too!

Peanut butter and coffee. But not together.

I agree you need to have a serious talk with him. PCOS can lead to infertility, diabetes, and various cancers. It's no joke. You are completely right to be trying to take proper care of yourself and not eat things that are bad for you.

I have only been on metformin for 3 weeks, and I already have random pregnancy symptoms occasionally, and I really don't think I am. I'm pretty sure it's just the met having fun with me. Chances are, if you're on the pill, you're not pregnant. The pill is very effective when used correctly, and still fairly effective even…

If you don't want to or can't take spironolactone, you should try Saw Palmetto. It should do pretty much the same things (reduce testosterone, helps hirtuism and hair loss) Like spiro, you cannot take it while pregnant though, so use with caution if anyone is TTC. I am, and I take it, but only for the first half of my…

Yah I've definitely heard some negative things about soy, as far as PCOS goes, but I've also heard some people say they purposely consume MORE soy to treat their PCOS... very confusing info. I happen to prefer soy milk in my coffee, so I have a little bit of that every morning, and then very occasionally some other soy…

It's hard not to be annoyed with the "New Years Resolution" crowd, but I just try to remember that we all started somewhere, and they are at least trying to change their lives. Most of them won't stick with it, but maybe some of them will, and I don't want to be the b!tch that discourages someone from getting healthy…

I actually put one teabag of Ginger, and one of Spearmint tea, so I guess it's a Ginger-Mint tea? I really like it. That being said, I grew up drinking tea and I really like pretty much all tea. I don't add anything to it, but you definitely could add a little honey (not sure how that would go with the mint, but if you…

It is cheaper if you can buy things in larger quantities - so maybe try making a soup (something with meat in it) or stew on Sunday and then freezing it, and eating it all week. Things like that are REALLY low carb and super nutritious, but not at all expensive. Eggs are definitely good, and cheap, I eat 2 a day. And try…

I drink ginger tea every day after lunch (I take my metformin with lunch) - this is actually something my naturopath recommended for something else entirely, but I have found that it has completely taken away any gastro symptoms from the metformin. I'm on a really low dose so my symptoms were pretty mild to begin with, but…

High testosterone is a good indicator, but can be indicative of other things. If this is the only thing abnormal on your blood work, your doctor should be looking to eliminate all other possible causes of high testosterone before concluding PCOS. Other things that could show up in your blood panel are: High ratio of LH to…

Wow congratulations! Getting through that is no easy feat and you've done amazingly well to turn your life around! You look awesome!

I only tried for 5 months before going on metformin... but my hair was falling out in handfuls so that was fairly distressing to me. But I intend to keep trying that natural stuff + met for another 6 months or so before looking into more specific fertility drugs. You are still very young, so you have time, but I would…

This! So no, no I don't. I've completely changed the way I eat, the way I see food, the foods I include in my diet, how much I eat etc. and I intend to keep that all up when I'm maintaining, and keep up with my fitness. But I don't intend to count everything because I won't need to. (because of all the lifestyle changes)

Never heard much about it before but I'd be interested to know what your Doc had to say. You can also try searching the forums at soulcysters.net as there are a lot more threads about various PCOS treatments on there.

It is technically possible to have PCOS and not have cysts on your ovaries (the name polycystic ovarian syndrome is actually a misnomer, it's an endocrinological disorder) - and actually likewise it's possible to have cysts on your ovaries but not have PCOS. That being said, you would normally want to look specifically at…

Oooh thanks that's a great idea. I was taking a probiotic for awhile but I ran out and really just never bought more... I will definitely get more now.

So good to hear it's worked out well for people! I've made it through my first almost 24 hours with only very minor stomach cramping yay! Now I'm just crossing my fingers it helps with ovulation :)

Most gyms have rules about not using your cell phone in the gym. If she doesn't respond to polite requests to share the machine, then you'll have to go to the staff at the gym. What she's doing is not fair, and probably against the gym rules, so if she doesn't listen to you, maybe she'll listen to gym staff.
