People have different views regarding the spread of your macronutrients (protein, fat and carbs) but it largely depends on your goals. Since you are here to lose weight, you can honestly eat your spread however you want it as long as you are keeping a caloric deficit. Protein can help to reduce lean body mass lost while…

Then do not eat 1200 calories a day. Up yourself to at least 1500. I'm sure you won't need to eat any less than that, even on a small frame, and you need the fuel for your workouts so keep eating those exercise calories.

Interested in learning more. Can someone link to actual science?

I love carbs so much, but I have absolutely noticed this on days where I am better at not eating so many carbs. For example, yesterday I had sushi for breakfast and was full for a good 5 hours on 200 calories. Today I had a bagel with cream cheese (400 calories) and I'm hungry already, 3 hours later. Though, my calorie…

I was going to suggest this. Just plank on the ball for as long as you can, you'll work out the muscles that you use to balance on it. Do that for two workouts and then try the jackknife again.

In the past I've used a hemp protein (tastes kinda like grass, was better in baking than in shakes) and a raw foods protein (which was "meh" on protein and taste). I use Body Fortress Super Advanced Whey now because it's cheap, honestly, and it's pretty good. I just got the Chocolate Protein Isolate and it's delicious and…

Coffee! There's 116mg potassium in 8oz. of coffee (which has 2 calories).

If you want that nice toned look, it's time to work on your muscles. You can try New Rules of Lifting for Women, that's what I've been doing, or there are other programs people recommend around here too - Stronglifts and Starting Strength, I think? Up your calories starting now, and do it slowly. You'll keep losing those…

This. You don't get big from protein. You don't get big from much of anything except a caloric surplus. In order to look like a wrestler you would need one and in order to grow a big gut you'd need one. If you are at a caloric deficit of 500 calories a day, your macronutrient spread will NOT prevent you from losing weight.…

Because skinny - especially skinny on the borderline of "too skinny" - is considered desirable in our society, people think it's okay to comment when someone is thin without realizing that it's just rude to be picking on someone else's body, period. Plus... don't forget how many celebrities are rocking that "cancer…

Yes I absolutely feel this way. I have an anxiety problem, so there are certain things I do mainly to avoid needing to be on medication for it. Going to the gym is a HUGE one. Going to the gym makes me feel so calm and I sleep so much better which in turn makes the next day better it's just great. So when I don't go, I get…

You could always get a set of weights. 5s, 10s, 15s and 20s will be fine for you for a while. Weight training is great. I think you're going to like it :)

Yeah, I would definitely say you're doing well! Like really well. Like I wish I was making that much progress. I know what you mean though. It seems like you're putting SO much effort in but progress is slow... as you do it more, though, the effort will become second-nature. It'll be something you do all the time, part of…

I heard before someone added it as a custom exercise called "Making Waffles." lol! I would add it yourself, go look around on other websites and see what they have to say about your calorie burn given your height/weight/position.

You will probably not have any problems upping your calorie limit. Your weight may stall for a week or two, but this is a transitional period while your body gets used to eating more, depending on how long you've been eating at the level you do. If it hasn't been all that long, then you won't have any problems at all. If…

Seasonal depression is definitely a real thing. Getting enough vitamins (especially D) and doing some exercise can do wonders to combat it! Good luck!

Hahaha. This is a good topic. I go commando sometimes. I just... sorta go commando on some days, so I don't put on underwear just to go to the gym :p I usually have a pair of "workout pants" for the week (3 workouts) and I wash or switch them over the weekend. If I'm wearing jeans or a skirt that day, I generally have…

This is my second account on MFP. The first time, I went on that 1200-calorie starvation diet the calculators on this site use. I lost weight from the high end of my BMI's "healthy range" to the low end. At the low end I was losing too slowly (since my body really isn't MEANT to be that size), so I lowered to 1000 and…

I'm a big advocate of the New Rules book, I'm on the program now and I'm already making improvements in my strength! I used to mainly work on the machines but I really didn't improve the way I expected to, because you're not using your stabilizing and balancing muscles that you need to do real life activities. I've made…

You're 20 years old, so no, you cannot eat 1000 net calories a day. No.
-
I know this has been addressed but it's really bothering me. The negatives?! As in, NEGATIVE net calories?! For one, you're 22 years old according to your profile and pretty thin according to your picture and you should absolutely NOT be eating a net of 1200 calories. MFP is a calculator designed for people who are…

"Don't eat below your BMR" is a good general rule and is not without its exceptions. From what I've seen, MFP's system works well for people who are very overweight, but it does NOT work well for people who are young, so I wouldn't trust their calculations perfectly. I would go with the person suggesting TDEE - 20%, that…

This is everything that needs to be said. Don't focus on being the way you used to be. Focus on getting healthy and strong.
-
Well I for one am glad you found the truth. It's really difficult to imagine, but take it this way - you get to eat more, more of the things that you like, and stress less about dieting. You like moving around and going to the gym is good for you regardless of weight loss. What is the worst thing that can happen? You…

No. Some people find food messes with their sleep. I often find I cannot sleep without a bedtime snack!

You look amazing. Please tell me more about how you do it. Do you eat at maintenance? I'm eating around maintenance I think, maybe just below it but it hasn't been long enough for me to be sure.
-
Um, well no. No, I don't think it's sufficient. If MFP's system worked perfectly, that might be okay if you're eating back your exercise calories. According to your profile, you're 20 years old. Me too! Just one thing: MFP's calculators are made for people 35+. As a young person, you should be eating more because your…

While all sorts of cleanses and detoxes are useless, fake, and often dangerous, I do like juicing. I like the taste of juice, and I like the nutrients it provides. It's more effective than a multivitamin (which I take in its place while I'm at school) and frankly, I'm not gonna eat kale or anything like that, so I can get…

Oh and if you're looking specifically for an after-workout treat, have some chocolate milk or a chocolate protein shake. Low-fat chocolate milk is supposedly the best thing for you after a workout - it replenishes carbs and gives you protein.

I have an "end of day" routine. I work out usually around 9, come back, protein shake, shower, smoke, eat a meal, watch tv, sleep. I sort of fell into this, but if something throws a wrench in it I get kind of upset. On rewards though, I will reward myself with food for non-health things. It's not "I worked out, I deserve…
