Great support and suggestions all! I leave 200-300 calories uneaten each day to account for anything I mismeasured. I don't own a scale! But yes, I'm being completely honest and logging everything. I wonder if it's just being a middle aged woman!

Celeste - love your name! I'm reading "Galileo's Daughter" right now, and that name is a heavy theme. Anyway, isn't it amazing the things we learn too late? Such as "why did I wait for this DX before doing something about my health and lard-y behind?". Guess better late than never. Mine have dropped nice and low. Everyone…

After 1.5 months of MFP, wheat-free eating, and great exercise, my doc dropped mine from 500mg twice a day to 250mg twice a day. I cut my pills in half now. I never noticed any side effects from the Metformin. Good luck!

I alternate biking and walking because it's FREE and I like to be outdoors before winter returns. Anything that raises your heart rate and gets muscles working is going to help you lose weight. Good luck!

Mine are Saucony. But I recommend going to a good shoe store where they will help you find what's right for you. I bought good inserts with mine to battle my flat-as-a-pancake feet. We have a great store in our area, but I hear others talk about running stores.

Hello! I'm a 51-yr-old Mom of three daughters. Married 23 years. LOVE food, LOVE to cook, LOVE to entertain, etc. All those years of loving food show on my body. Now I need to lose about 65lbs and roll back a new diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes. How predictable! According to my doctor I've lost 10lbs. She recommended I drop…

I think you know the answer. The answer is you can't do anything. He's an adult, and is fully aware that he's gaining weight because he eats too much, and doesn't exercise enough. Anyone who doesn't know that would have to be in a coma. The best thing you could do is be a great example of healthy choices making a…

Hi, I'm new too. I was diagnosed about 1.5 months ago. My doctor told me not to test as often as the education materials say, because people "burn out" on testing. I always do a morning fasting BG, then test at different times each day. Usually 2x or 3x per day. I've read other, more experienced people say to use your…

Excellent news!! You are demonstrating a great goal for all of us.

Absolutely! I'm approaching this with the mentality that this isn't temporary. This is a life change. I just can't eat whatever I want. I MUST moderate or I will gain weight and become ill with all that comes with obesity. Other people have to learn to quit smoking, or use an artificial limb, or what-have-you. This is my…

Hello, I'm new to Type 2 and learning so much. Like the great advice above, I've seen others mention this 15/15 rule = eat 15g of carb and wait 15 minutes. My BG has been on the low side for several days now and I'm thrilled! But also kinda shaky and that's not fun. I've seen other more experienced folks say if it goes low…

Hi! You can add me. I'm new to wheat-free too. I'm on day 17 and so far, so good! Good luck, Margaret

I swear by tea tree oil as an antiseptic.

Hi there, I'm new to Type 2 as well. Diagnosed about a month ago. Since then I've gotten serious about better eating and exercise. Not that I was a schlump before, but have really tightened everything up. My doctor also suggested a wheat-free diet for 30 days. Advice? I'd say: get good rest, find supportive people, log in…

Exactly! So many questions!! Should I use artificial sweetners at all? If so, which one? Why can't my kids pick up their stuff off the stairs? How will I eat well when the weather turns to winter? Why was I born with such short legs? Why can't I be 5' 8" with a high metabolism? When will I win the Powerball? Margaret

Thank you both! I'm taking Metformin twice per day.

Hi, I'm new to gluten-free eating as well. My doctor recommended a 30-day trial so here I am! Good luck to all of us. Margaret

I'm seeing a new integrative doctor, and she wants me to try it for 30 days. I'm game! I'm nearly there anyway since I've been avoiding bread.
