  • It is an MLM structure. Someone I know is a serial MLM marketer. Amway to Quickstar to Team America to Body by VI and she has moved on 2 times in 2 years since Vi was the best thing ever. It is a huge money suck with unproven claims in my world view but I am not completely objective ETA: Please keep in mind that the BMW is…
  • The first pictures make me want to feed you - a lot. Be proud of yourself for beginning to break free of your ED - you look strong and so much healthier :)
  • Ditto. I follow a eat often (and 1500 calories) and low starch/grain diet. I am never hungry. I exercise a lot more than I was. I do a lot of bodyweight strength-training. I ahve lost 20 pounds in 4 months with moderately bad PCOS and IR. That said, I DON'T consider surgery a cheat and my attitude is to each their own. I…
  • If one eats below their BMR for a lengthy amount of time, there will be a metabolic slow down. Why eat such a low calorie count, when you can eat more calories, not mess up your metabolism and lose weight? Noone said anything about stravation mode
  • I have PCOS and IR so I had already replaced most grains/starches with the more complex carb option. I have not completely eliminated anything but I don't keep sweets or chips in the house because I am a boredom eater and my husband is a binge (and boredom) eater. If I want dessert, I have a piece of dark chocolate or I…
  • Go with the lower option or go to a website like http://www.fitday.com/webfit/burned/calories_burned.html where you can enter in your gender, age, height and weight for numbers that will be much closer to reality. If I do use MFP numbers, I only eat back half my exercise calories
  • P.S. Cravings often have a basis in biological need during pregnancy. your body probably is telling you something with the cheese and steak cravings. I know I could not get enough cheese while pregnant - lots of calcium, good fats, protein (and it's yummy too)
  • Right now, not only is your baby growing and demanding resources from your body; but, your body is still building extra blood supply. It takes a LOT of extra energy to support the baby and I assure you, your baby will get everything he or she wants even at the expense of leaching nutrients from your bones. Eat your extra…
  • I usually get enough healthy fats from EVO, coconut oil, nuts and cheese thru-out the day so I love non-fat, plain (no sugar added) chobani for a quick protein kick when I don't want to have fat. I make dessert of it by adding a little stevia and either cinnamon or unsweetened cocoa powder. Yum!
  • Great post! No sense punishing or paralyzing yourself with guilt. Much better to pick up the pieces and move forward :) One of my favorite quotes that I remind myself of is that no matter how slow, clumsy, or awkward I feel exercising in whatever way, I am lapping everybody still sitting on the couch :D
  • FWIW, a friend went on a doctor supervised VLCD (she has diabetes and liver disease) and, over the course of a year, lost about a 100 lbs and got down to a almost-healthy weight. Looked terrific, could breathe, etc etc. And then she came under stress and started eating out and fell off the diet. I'm pretty sure she gained…
  • sautee sugar snap peas in coconut oil with garlic or ginger and a dash of salt Roast cauliflower at 425 for 25 with EVO, marjoram, and parmesan cheese. Add balsamic vinegar in the last 5 minutes http://www.eatingwell.com/recipes/balsamic_parmesan_roasted_cauliflower.html Really oven roast any veggie in a similar fashion -…
  • I read the thread. The poster was not trying to be hostile or hurt the OP's feelings and the OP was not offended. I believe the basic gist was eat a smaller portion of the ice cream that helped you gain weight if you are having trouble getting your cals for the day. It was a valid point :)
  • While I agree that you should aim for the higher calorie amount - try adding nutritionally AND calorically dense foods like nuts, almond butter, avocados (i.e. good fats) - you are enough overweight that 2 months of eating at a LCD isn't actually going to kill your metabolism. Just try to stop the trend now so that your…
  • I have an occasional cheat meal. But, I try to keep mostly within my TDEE. And I don't go crazy- I'll split a dessert and have a glass of wine or I'll have a dozen tortilla chips with queso dip. But, I try to make mostly smart food choices and keep the portion size down on the "cheat" items
  • Congrats! I have not lost enarly as much weight; but, was thrilled when I officially hit that landmark- so I appreciate how exciting it is :D
  • -What was your starting weight? 216 -What's your target? 160 for now - will reassess later but that seems doable vs the 110-120 charts tell me I should be -What are you now? 197 as of this morning - but won't log it until it is official on my gym scale later today :P -How many calories/day do you consume? Started at 1450…
  • herbs and spices, mustard, sweeteners (truvia, splenda, sweet n low), sugar free gum. I log everything else
  • I weigh in daily but just to feed my OCD fascination with the fluctuations that occur with normal weight loss, changes in food, and hormonal shifts. I weigh in officially about every 10 days - 2 weeks at my local 'gym' (it's really a TKD studio)
  • I am counting calories and exercising 3-5 times a week but suspect most of my limited success (10 lbs in 2 months) is due to limiting carb intake to fruits and veggies and a rare treat (one piece of dark chocolate) and eating smaller meals over the course of the day. I think that is serving to even out my blood…
  • The system does not verify user entries in that you can tell it that there are 5 grams each carb, protein, and fat but it won't verify that the calories are then entered as 4*5 + 4*5 + 9*5 - at least not that I have noticed. I am guessing that is where the disparity lies.
  • I have no experience but google found me this http://www.fitnesstreats.com/category/recipes/protein-powder-2/pea-protein/
  • I have only been at this for 8 weeks or so - but, I try to basically plan my cheats. If I want a glass of wine, I have that. But, if I want a dessert (which I did this weekend), I skipped the wine and the inexplicably high-calorie salad. I knew I was having a yummy , fattening dinner at a nice restaurant so I forced myself…
  • I am actually 54 days in but, at my one-month measures, I had lost only 2 pounds but 11 inches over 7 markers. Now I have lost 5 or 6 pounds and am actually kinda looking forward to new measures later this week. I hate pics of myself so I foolishly took no before/start pics. I still have a looooong way to go; but progress…
  • You are quite the talented storyteller- glad you escaped with your caloric goals in tact :D
  • I aim for 25% carbs in my diet. Almost all comes from veggies and fruit which I prob get 5-6 servings of a day (keep trying to get more) and some dairy. My fat sources are primarily meats and MUFAs. I agree that low carb is not for everyone but I have no problem getting plenty of calories and I have PCOS and IR (diagnosed-…
  • Great job! Huge difference :)
