You said it so much better than I did  :flowerforyou:

For less calories, I'll have my 1/4 cup (half a serving) of talenti gelato or Ben and Jerry's. occasionally I fit in the whole serving. But, honestly, most of the food gasm comes from the first few bites - after that, I'm probably just eating it cause its there.

OP, ditto this. Please reach out to your doctor - find someone who can help you with your eating disorders. You are a lovely girl - take care of yourself and get the help you need

I don't see that that indicates anything beyond the participants' willingness to commit and adhere to their eating modifications. It says all participants were encouraged to eat to a loss of .45 kg a week. So, the first week, some people went under that calorie goal and were labelled fast, some went over and became slow.…

That. I carry a bunch of weight in my belly and thighs. I've only gone down 2-3 pant sizes with a 44 lb loss but I wear a medium shirt now and look pretty average from the waist up. It just depends how your body loses.

a typical HRM has settings for your height, weight, age and gender which generally makes the calculation of caloric burn more accurate than just heart rate alone :flowerforyou:

Gender: Female Age: 44 Height: 5'1" Starting weight: 216 Current Weight: 171 Goal weight: currently 160 but will re-assess and probably lower when I get there. Seemed insurmountable at the time :P Activity level: Sedentary (computer all day) Weight loss goal: .5 lb per week Calorie Goal (Net): 1500 Average Calorie intake:…

PCOS- Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. It is a hormonal imbalance that manifests with high testosterone -> increased estrogen -> insulin resistance. Major risk factor for Type 2 diabetes and the most common cause of female infertility. Myriad of symptoms including easier weight gain and difficulty losing weight. At least one…

plan one small treat a day and fit into your calorie goals. Yesterday, mine was a half serving of talenti gelato. today it's a cadbury creme egg. I figure if it is not something I am willing to quit eating for the rest of my life, then it is not something I will completely forego while trying to lose weight. I just plan…

I second trying strength training but also find an exercise you enjoy (like DDR) as rregular exercise helps our bodies regulate sugars better. I have had the most success 'dieting' via MFP. I set a reasonable deficit, ate back half my exercise calories (or banked them for a splurge) and went with a reduced crab plan. I…

homemade chicken salad (craisins, curry powder, little mayo and lots of non-fat greek yogurt). less than 200 cals and 24ish g of protein. Also had a fruit salad of watermelon, strawberries, fresh chopped basil, pepper and salt - sounds weird but tastes nomnomnom

That was exactly my reaction

I can't see your macro for fiber but you may want to temporarily move that into your diary just to see how high it is. Fat, protein, and fiber all help most people feel full longer. So you may want to try tweaking your intake of those up a bit even if it means cutting a tad on carbs. HTH :flowerforyou:

Fwiw, the OP appears to be male based on the pronoun associated with his profile

MFP gave you a calorie number based on your goals. The deficit for weight loss is already built into that number taking into account only normal daily activity. So, yes, eating your exercise calories makes total sense and is advisable - your body needs fuel.

IKR?

I see what you did there  OP, it kinda makes me twitchy too but I know it's really not that big a deal so I have learned to ignore it.

No truth to meal timing or late meals being bad. If you're still hungry, eat! Have something with healthy fats and protein - both fats and protein help you feel full longer

I know little of lupus but I watched my dad go thru chemo and I know how much it affects your ability to taste, eat, or keep anything down. I'm glad you have some new options to try and I wish you health restored :flowerforyou:

QFT Seriously, I am over-40, short (5'1") woman with PCOS and IR (I.e. metabolic disorders). I have a sedentary desk job so my only exercise is planned. I lose weight on 125% of that goal (1500/day). We all presumably like food enough to have gained weight. I'm all for not living to eat. But 1200 is miserable low for most…

FWIW, I am an obese woman with a metabolic syndrome (PCOS/IR). I eat about 250-350 cals at breakfast most of the time. When I tried out eating a much bigger breakfast and smaller lunch/dinner, I really just ended up eating more later. Cause i was hungry. i think the fact that we have no idea what study participants ate in…

Great job!!! You look wonderful :flowerforyou:

I think the 1600 plan and buying a food scale are the way to go overall. But, I did want to mention that your body will also retain fluid for muscle repair from strength training (which you said you started a couple weeks ago. That can take several weeks to clear out. Finally FWIW, my weight can vary for hormonal (or…

I would have if I had ever remembered to bookmark it. I wonder if Grace would mind if I saved her very helpful link list and started using it? OP, Read the thread Amber posted - it is full of awesome :flowerforyou:
