Another cool jaunt is the Mission Trails "5 Peaks". Kwaay Paay -> North Fortuna (via Oak Canyon) -> South Fortuna -> (quick drive to Barker Way) Cowles Mtn -> Pyles Peak. A great, great workout! I made a half day of it and burned well over 3500 calories :) Here's a link to map info: https://www.mtrp.org/trail_map.asp

Whew - made it! With the 17 mile hike today I finish June at 61/50... On to August... ? :)

Hey there! First off congratulations on the baby girl! I'm a dad of 3 kids and understand the lack of time, energy and motivation... been there many times :) But I've been back at it on MFP for a few months now and I'm starting T25 on Monday - so while it's not the same program I'll definitely need some back and forth…

My total for Week 1 (6/8): 12.5 Great job folks!
-
This is my first MFP group goal! I hiked 11 miles yesterday so I'm well on my way to my first week's goal :) Thanks for creating this!

The Fett reference/pic is immediate win. So is gaming. And super heroes. And sci-fi. And reading. I enjoy hiking as opposed to a treadmill but excellent likes :) Cheers!

Hey there... I'm at 1500 per day at the moment (used to be 1350 but increase as needed). I hike at least once per week and lift 4x per week. I've been on MFP for about a year and a half and have been on a roll the past 2 months and feel (and look) better than I have in over a decade :) Cheers!

Like t'was said before, explore and enjoy leveling - WoW is one of the few games I wish I could play for the first time again. I've played off and on, and my be back "on" again in a few months when WoD comes out (with the huge cosmetic upgrade!) Have fun!

Excellent post! My motivation: I'm doing a day hike up Mt. Whitney in August (something I've wanted to do for about 4 years now) so that requires me to be in shape and healthy. Also, my kids think I'm a superhero when I "have muscles and less belly" so that always brings a grin to my face. And, of course, looking and…

I honestly think I'll be playing Skyrim until my time is up here on earth. It's high up on my Top 5 of all time. I won't even get into how I will occasionally play it as a hiking simulator. Plus: mods.

The most accurate reading for calburn that you're going to get is with an HRM - the calorie numbers that MFP have are usually a bit higher that what's really burned. I use an HRM for cardio, interval and weight training. Interval, by far, burns the most calories per minute of workout - at that moment. Cardio comes in…

Iron Mountain via Ellie Way is great too... about a 9.3 mile loop. I did it last week and WHEW! Cheers!

This is a great idea and thread! For anyone who's interested: I've been on MFP for over a year. Active on and off on the site logging-wise, but have maintained a workout routine (either intense or maintenance) throughout (minus moments of illness or, ahem, rare cases of utter laziness :) I've lost 40 lbs using a variety of…

Hello folks... I'm Kevin... geek since, eh, a while now. 6'2" and live in San Diego, California (born/raised) My super powers are based on me having red hair, so you can just imagine the variety of abilities... the most important being my ability to jump up onto curbs. It's great to see a nice group of folks that are…

Having Friends to encourage and support is just as important as the MFP tool itself - if not more. Add me if you'd like pats on the back or occasional kicks in the glutes :)

Agree!

I hear that! I'm sitting at my desk/at a computer the majority of the day... and I'm an avid PC gamer so there's more sitting in a chair. Last year I put gaming aside and worked out - losing 40 lbs in the long run. Missed gaming, however, so jumped back in - and in the process gained some of the weight back :( This time…

I think you've got plenty of hours ahead of you with Saboteur and Red Dead Redemption :) I second the motion of Far Cry 3 - seeing that game recommended always puts a smile on my melon because it's simply greatness. I'm currently playing my 4th playthrough of Fallout 3 so I have to recommend that one as well Have fun!

Definitely been there! I was a scale nut for months and months... every day/week I'd weigh myself. Then I realized that there's more to fitness and health then what the scale tells me... my energy levels and the mirror gave me more detailed updates about my progress :) There's no problem simply avoiding the scale for a few…

Oh, man... Far Cry 3... IMO it's the perfect FPS. It just simply does everything right. OK, the story's a tad hokey in parts, but otherwise... perfect. And here's hoping Bethesda announces Fallout 4 this year... even it it's not to be released until late 2015 - any official nuggets will tide me over :)
-
Gamer and MFPer over here... PC gaming 99.9% of the time... I play Skyrim, Fallout 3, DA:O, Guild Wars 2 and Far Cry 3 on a loop. Well, in between intense workout routines :) Thus far I've lost 23lbs... now it's time to work on the muscles whilst chipping away at the remaining unwanted fat... Add if you're ready to press…

Replaying an old favorite: Fallout 3 (plus DLCs). I never tire of the wasteland. I rotate with Skyrim, Fallout 3/NV, Dragon Age: Origins... I have a few hundred games on Steam and yet I come back to the same ones over and over. I believe that defeats the purpose of buying new games, ya? I've s-l-o-w-l-y been developing a…

The best news is that the weekend is over! What's even better is that you can use this past weekend as a reminder that, even though you went a little nuts in the eats dept, you can recover and get back on track. I've had MANY of those types of weekends and all they are, really, are speed bumps :) And I agree with Alz -…

Hey Palmer - Happy to see you've rebooted your dedication and are ready to kick it back into gear. Last year (about this time) I first started MFP and lost 40+ lbs in about 3.5 months (228 down to 188). I logged everything, walked every day, went to the gym twice per week, and hiked. About mid-April 2013 I got sick off and…

Welcome! Relax the nerves, breathe in that Minnesota air, and jump right in to the pool of awesome! Those who are doing great are examples of what you'll be very, very shortly... you're not ready to fail, you're ready to SAIL! (Sorry, that's the best rhyming word I could think of at the moment - if I come up with a better…

I'm starting T25 on Monday (Sep 2nd) and am really really really really really looking forward to it! Anyone else starting Monday? If so, let's progress through it together! Let me know!

I've been wanting to give this game a shot but haven't had the time... definitely on my list of "... to be played..." Seeing as you've played long enough to get to 25, I assume you're getting some level of enjoyment out of it? What's the good/bad?

I'm playing the Commando and am LOVING it! Everything about it improves on the original... I find myself squeezing every ounce of playtime available to get in a session... I can see myself playing through with all the characters in the near future. I love being in a crazy fight, throwing out my turret, grabbing some cover…

Has to be Red Dead Redemption, Arkham Asylum and GTA IV... everything else I play on PC. Oh, and of course, Uncharted!

How goes it in Skyrim? I've chalked up nearly 365 hours so far and still can't get enough of it! So much to do, so much to see... I've got a Ranger and a Mage. And I'm definitely looking forward to TES Online!
