Did stage 1 A2 today, made it to the scary free weight side w the trainer. Squated 65#, 60# rows, incline pushups 18 reps chest to bar, 10# step ups @90 degrees, 18 rep jackknife. Forgot to ask about how to set up dead lift bar for Thursday, grrrr, hopefully will figure it out. trainer was emphasizing form and broad range…

Great to see kindred souls here - feel free to add me! Starting slow did stage one workout a #2 today. 50# dead lifts from 40# last week, put a bit more weight on each exercise. I guess I could do more but I need bars rather than dumb bells and to get into free weight section of gym!

^you sound exactly like me! 19 lb to go, lifting weights in womens section of gym and nervous to try free weight section, wanting to keep up w cardio 3x a week, and just starting NROL4W. I've done 2 workouts so far, heading out for the 3rd this morning. Keeping cardio 2x a week and eating back those cals. As a mostly…

feel the same way. and have the personal trainer appt tonight to do the same (in the dreaded "men's" area of the gym!) hopefully goes ok!

Hi! Great to hear another female is getting into weight training. I've lifted weights on and off over the years and most recently have been at it about 6 months. Just found new rules of lifting for women (there's a group here for it, too) and am starting with stage 1. Feel free to friend me - psyched to convert some fat to…

Heyyyy everybody, started yesterday w stage one. Did workout B since I didn't have access to a cable machine and had to use dumbbells. Used 20 lb for dead lifts didn't seem too bad, then 15's and 12's for some of the others. I bet this gets harder, seeing as how you add weight each time you work out. Am I understanding…

Hi - yes to both questions. Working on getting to be a faster runner, not so much a distance runner. Also weight training, trying to convert fat to muscle at the age of 50. Been on MFP for about a year, about halfway to goal weight. Feel free to friend me!

Hi everybody! Great to see there's a group here to discuss any special challenges for losing weight at this stage. I lost 20 lb over the last year (after 8 years of up and down with the weight). Have 20 lb to go to get to goal. Turning 50 this year, went into menopause at 48. What I'm wondering now is whether my goal is…

Agree with this. I did the 6 week ETL detox in 2011 and adopted the plan. I probably veer a little bit, but to me everything he writes makes a lot of sense. After I started ETL, I stopped having headaches, abdominal cramps, asthma symptoms. Stopped taking ibuprofen nearly every day for inflammation of various kinds. I lost…

hi! great to hear from someone else who has my exact same dilemma. i am 49 turning 50 in June, started menopause at 48, so 2 years into it and still with the hot flashes and flabby arms. arghh!! i've taken about 20 off so far and 20 more to go. i've been working out cardio and weight training, since i guess you lose weight…

no advice but i can relate. haven't lost anything since early February of this year. frustrating. i've been weight training though, and i think converting fat to muscle. my overall body fat percentage went down 2.5% over the last 6 weeks. lost 1 3/4 inches off my waist. they say look at inches not pounds. it's hard though…

Sounds like you have the eating and logging part down cold. Congratulations! Awesome. This is the hardest part. I would add a lot of exercise - cardio x3 weight training x3 a week. This will rev up your metabolism and accelerate weight loss. Might want to increase your vegetables - super lo cal, super good for you with all…

If you haven't started moving yet, take the stairs at work, great way to get going!

very intuitive - i'm actually struggling a bit, feeling pretty hungry. the days i weight train it's really pronounced, so i started making protein shakes after the work out, helped a little but i feel totally ravenous after weight training. then there's the unfortunate debacle with my scale ^ see above post. i actually…

lol it's the main reason i do cardio too. i'm hungry and can't survive on 1200 it's too hard. so at the end of the work day i do maybe an hour of working out including cardio and abs, weight training. reduces the hunger pains plus i actually get a reasonable dinner of around 700 calories, which i can totally stick to.…

same here it's unbelieveable. but worth it.

make sense. i've looked at the weekly calorie counter also and have thought if you can stay within your total week's count it might work. good to know that it actually can! i don't give myself calorie credit for any weight training. i know i must be burning some there since i start to breath heavy, but i figure it's too…

awesome. hoping it goes this way for me. i keep thinking i'll be able to run faster after i lose the last 20 lb. been stuck at the 5.5 mph - 5.8 mph for awhile. these thoughts have been what's keeping me going. took a break from losing weight last summer so i could focus on running and noticed that running really does help…

thanks everybody, awesome. do you find that it's working? are you losing weight as you expected? trying to go for 2 lb a week -
-
and you told on yourself, too! that takes courage, awesome job. keep up the honesty! :-) feel so bad for that girl, too, sounds absolutely awful. :-(

Hi - feel free to add me I'm totally with you on the starting over thing. Every time I get an injury it sets me back since my body gets used to burning all those calories.when the injury comes and I'm out, the weight starts to creep back. 1200 a day: totally ravenous if I can't eat some back from exercise. So like you I…

Hi - I'm mostly vegan, rather nutritarian. Feel free to add me! :)
-
new here but i'm going to stay on top of this one - down 2 lb this week, weighing in at 145.5
-
Been logging daily for 3 1/2 weeks now. Keeps me honest! Feel free to friend me :)

Wow!! great job you look fabulous and must feel that way too. Congratulations - your hard work paid off. Thanks for the pictures - inspiring! :-)

I'm also at 1200 a day, but mfp tells me if I exercise I get credit for that, so I can eat 1200 a day. If I exercise and use up 300 calories, I get to add these calories back in, for a net of 1200. Hope I'm doing this right! Anyway i find 1200 to be a challenge too, particularly around dinner time. I can get through the…
