  • Mine's open for friends only. No one has ever commented on it. I rarely look at other people's journal unless they are asking for feedback. Does anyone really care what anyone else eats?
  • You look great, and it is amazing how much younger you look. Way to go!
  • I have skinny men in my family. The difference in our diets tends to be in carbs. They eat a lot of pasta, rice, bread and potatoes whereas I eat very little of those items. They eat two or three times the portion sizes of meat and veggies I do. And yes, they eat junk. My teenaged son drinks a lot of milk and supplements…
  • I tend to think that one size doesn't fit all. I lose faster when I limit my carbs than when I don't even though my daily calories stay the same. As long as you are in a deficit, you will lose weight. Maybe different people have different macro requirements.
  • I eat protein around 3:00 every day. Today I had a hard boiled egg. That will hold me until I can have dinner at 7:00. If I don't eat something non-carb in the afternoon I am totally starving when I get home from work.
  • After induction, you are supposed to start adding carbs. Honestly, when I did Atkins (it's been a few years) I was on a variety of Atkins message boards and almost everyone stuck with induction for much longer than 2 weeks. I stayed on induction for months. Lost a lot of weight but was so bored with it. Anyway, I think I…
  • I've read the book and done Atkins. Don't assume.
  • I'm not a diabetic, but I agree with all of this. I personally feel better when I limit my carbs but I don't go crazy with it. Too low and I feel yucky and can't poop. I prefer to keep my carbs between 50 and 75g a day and usually do. Sometimes I creep closer to 100 but never go over that. If you're going to do atkins,…
  • Knock on wood, I haven't binged since I got serious about my weight loss. In the old days, I know I could easily knock back 6000-8000 calories on a bad day. The worst part is during a binge I ate so mindlessly I didn't even taste the food.
  • I've heard that the cookie dough ones are really good, but they are really pricy. Worth it?
  • I can eat Fiber One cereal without a problem, but the bars...OMG. Right now I'm eating the cinnamon coffee cake ones and they satisfy my sweet tooth but even my cats avoid me when the side effects start.
  • I think 70 pounds by May is possible but you'll have to be nearly perfect and let's face it...most of us aren't. I wish you tremendous success and luck but think you should probably push everything back by a few months to be safer. You are putting a lot of pressure on yourself with such a deadline. I'm large breasted and…
  • My hubby asked what I wanted. I'm getting a diamond anniversary band!
  • Roughly 9.5 months and 77 pounds gone. I had it set on 2 pounds a week for about 6 months, and most of the time achieved that. I have it set for 1 pound a week now but sometimes the loss is closer to .5 pound. I'll take it! I am 5.6 pounds away from my end of the year goal of weighing 160 and should get there. I'd like to…
  • We go to Disney World often...a few times a year. In January we were there, I was exhausted, my feet hurt, and for the first time ever I thought that renting a scooter wouldn't be a bad idea. I started my diet that day. I don't begrudge people who need scooters because of physical ailments, but getting one (or wanting one)…
  • Seeing the bad with the good really does help. You shouldn't pretend it didn't happen, but you shouldn't beat yourself up over it either. Learn from it. I log every single day excluding when I'm on vacation because then I'm off the grid. Seeing the big red bar graph is annoying, but it all balances out in the end if you…
  • What's cool about your pictures is how happy you look in all of them. You look great! I'm not disgusted by my older, fatter pictures, but I notice that I always look self conscious and uncomfortable. My more recent pictures look more natural and happy.
  • I have them on my stomach. They've been there for 20 years and are a part of me. Look at it this way...people get tattoos to commemorate important times or experiences. Stretch marks are nature's tattoos. There was a time when I got very large and this was the result. They are a reminder of what happened then and what I…
  • Even though it's much more expensive, I buy single serving snack packages for my family (I'm the only one with a weight issue). Sure, you can just eat multiple packs to end up with the same binge, but generally telling yourself, "I will have one 100-calorie snack pack," is a treat and becomes enough to satisfy cravings.
  • Yeah, Tea is not a recent, hipster thing. My American mom drank it daily as far back as I remember (I'm 45) and my nerdy, average self has been drinking it for at least 30 years. I love all tea and drink it unadorned, but there are a million varieties of flavored teas that would work for someone who doesn't care for it.…
  • I don't have cheat days and rarely have cheat meals. What typically happens with me is that I'll start craving something (usually a burger) and I won't be happy until I have one. Then I eat it and get right back on track for another 3 or 4 weeks until I start craving something again. I think if you don't eat what you love…
  • I've not given up anything entirely, but I've drastically cut down my pasta, rice and potatoes. I have 1/2 cup of rice once a week and I think I've had pasta twice since January. I'm not sure if I've had potatoes or not, but I plan to on Thanksgiving! Carbs are not my friend. I do better when I limit them.
  • I don't feel that way. I look terrible in my old pics, but I also felt terrible and it's important to see those reminders to see how you no longer want to be. I didn't hate myself when I was fat, but I was unhappy for a variety of reasons and unhealthy because of the extra weight.
  • That's just wonderful! You've given a great gift to yourself and your family. :)
  • Congrats! I currently have 3 pair of pants that actually fit. Everything else is baggy but I can't afford to get a new wardrobe every 2 months so I make do. It's a good problem to have. I've been buying only what is absolutely necessary throughout this process and plan on a big spree when I'm finished.
  • Maybe you are talking so much about it that your friends and family are sick of it being the topic of conversation. Do your thing without reporting on it all of the time.
  • I've had one alcoholic drink this year. I counted it.
