  • Disgusting. "No Homo"--that is insulting in so many ways. What about the rest of us with gay sons, brothers and best friends? Ick. I would not be too thrilled hearing 'nice rack,' either, although I don't think I've ever heard that outside of a construction site (when I was twenty years old).
  • Are you losing hope because of your weight loss journey? Or is there another reason, work, relationship, feelings? I think you are doing a really good, consistent job from the pics you have posted. It can be frustrating to work so hard and not have weight fall off the way they do on some television programs (where the…
  • Glad to hear it worked. I actually drove past a bunch of liquor stores yesterday and did not stop and buy a thing. Today the craving is less. Amazing. I think you're right--giving up drinking for Lent. First step for giving it up for a lifetime!
  • Super! Want to take a road trip to the lochs? I was there about twenty years ago and lovin' it. Gorgeous country. Plus my family got kicked to the curb from Edinburgh to NYC about 1910, so I always have a twee feeling about the good old country. (Weirdos, you say? Well, send them to the U.S. And then the rest of the world…
  • You didn't blow it. Blowing it is starting the day with a iced tea glass full of gin and half a doughnut you dug out of the bottom of the trashcan. On the other hand, maybe you could eat a little more for breakfast. Even lunch, who knows? Don't be so hard on yourself. This isn't a competition. You learn as you go. There…
  • I weigh in after a week has passed since my last weigh in, but only if I have gone two days without going out to eat (they salt the food so heavily that even a tiny portion has tons more salt than I ever use at home). Most important to me is having had lots of water and not too much sodium. Then weigh in really shows…
  • No comment. Should be ashamed of yourself for looking like that. Go right to bed.
  • This is all helpful info for me--for the opposite reason! My husband is in acute and chronic kidney failure and they say the potassium in his blood is destroying his remaining kidney tissue.
  • To No Alcohol since 10/13/12 Wow, I see my story in yours. I am also bipolar II, and alcohol does interfere with the meds. Thanks for bravely posting your story. I needed to hear it.
  • I have never tried Abilify but I had a friend who had significant weight loss on it. Unfortunately, it was related to an uncontrolled mental deterioration. Since Abilify has an antipsychotic in it, you have to be extra careful about not eating when unintended. Possibly because you are actually feeling good for a change!…
  • Why replace? Why not do yoga and half of your intense workout?
  • Definitely going to make this. Can we copy it or would you mind?
  • So do I. Vit D and Vit B complex. Plus the multi and also fish oil. Gahhh, the pleasures of age!
  • Seriously? Hairy, hair, bald, glasses, pecs, hanging belly...such are not what real men are made of. A great and kind personality, lots of interests, kindness (did I already say that  ), paying attention to you, and ready to be in a relationship where the two of you really communicate and support each other totally.…
  • Update: called my doctor and she told me that the Vit B complex is to combat the possibility that I am developing anemia. However, my therapist recommended Vit D to boost effects of the antidepressant. For what its worth. (I am not a doctor!)
  • I am on statin drugs for cholesterol and a new European antidepressant. I have to have a blood check every three months for liver activity and my doctor insists I need more B vitamins. So far, am relying on the ones in the multi.
  • Wow, if this is true, maybe there is hope for me. I have switched medications and ever since I have been completely off the other medicine (Prozac and Cymbalta). I cry for hours and hours every day. It is very out of control and I am really scared. I cry every morning when I get up for about three hours, cry every night,…
  • I am having fun using the app to register my calories, I have to admit. But I am also very interested to see how I can work all my fiber and calcium into my caloric count. I am excited to see that I can eat healthy food and how much better I feel. 30 years ago, when I was your age, I used to diet by fasting, sometimes for…
  • I have (in addition to everything else) Borderline Personality Disorder. Whenever you need to SI for comfort, you need to seek a better path. I wanted to try dialectical behavior therapy but there are no therapists in my state. I went and bought the DBT handbook, and it has helped me SO MUCH. Especially the worksheets on…
  • I am currently on a prescription to klonopin daily for my severe social anxiety. It has worked well and I have yet to develop tolerance symptoms, but your information is very useful. Once my depression is under control, I may try titrating down on the klonopin. But klonopin has allowed me to drive again and leave my house,…
  • Gin, club soda, a big slice of lime (squeeze it into the glass), or if you don't mind the taste, order gin and diet tonic. I love gin and diet tonic and they always have diet tonic everywhere. The lime is to add yummy. I know some people hate tonic. Diet tonic is virtually indistinguishable from regular tonic. P.S. Two or…
  • As they say in Mexico, bone is for the dog--meat is for the man.
  • My opinion is of little value having been with the same man for thirty-one years, but I would say men prefer women who are happy, bubbly, respectful, lively, fun-loving, easy to get along with, and, with any luck, easy on the eyes. Slender, tall and willowy has been the fashion for quite a while, but men also like…
  • If you love pets (and I do, with three cats), can afford to take care of them, don't have them disturbing your home life, and are enjoying all, then you have found the right balance. Too many only occurs when both you and the pets are miserable, and you are going broke because of the pets.
  • Sounds like you have been through a world of abuse in a short lifetime. You are a tough girl and I admire your determination to achieve health. I will be watching your story and sending good wishes all the way. Eating Disorders are some of the most difficult problems to overcome, but it can be done. I am bipolar myself and…
  • I lost a lot of weight eating about 500 cal a day. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that this would trigger a descent into depression that I still fight today. Nutrition is a strange thing. Hope we learn more about it. But I must warn those who have a tendency toward mental illness If you find yourself eating almost…
  • Thanks for your post. We have to ask ourselves, do we respect each other? Do we know to be kind to each other? We are all adults and make our own choices, have different bodies and different goals, different health needs, etc. No more making unpleasant remarks to each other, if we are to be of support. 1100-1200 calories…
  • You look really good. Are you taking into consideration that you have a muscular torso and legs, and that muscle weighs more than fat? Unless your goal is to be a movie star, I would say your new challenge is maintenance. Swimmers need muscle to get around in the water, and basically it is all about how you feel, in energy…
  • I totally need supportive friends. I feel I have already posted my life story, but more friends is more better.
  • Wow, you are so right! What is funny (or infuriating) is that a commercial for some huge, fat-dripping fast food meal is followed directly by a weight-loss supplement that has all kinds of warnings about giving you a heart attack. Ick. I guess the only answer is--turn off that TV and take a walk!
