I signed up in late January but I had a health issue and setback. I finally got serious again about 5 weeks ago. I joined the gym - and I'm truly committed to working out 5-6 days/week. So far, I've only lost 7 pounds, with some fluctuations along the way. 1) take your measurements. I have to remind myself the scale…

I cook up a batch then mix some with eggs for breakfast (in the pan or you can bake in cupcake pan for little bite size breakfast bites), or serve over quinoa with veggies. I do tend to add a lot of spices or mix with roasted tomatoes or grilled onions because ground turkey can be bland

I love Zumba! I'm totally uncoordinated and I don't care. I have so much fun! At my gym we have several Zumba classes, and IMHO, the instructor (and the group) makes a difference, along with the music. Some instructors just really engage with the group, gets you hoopin' and hollering, and pushes to make you really work…

I have a small 401k with my prior employer. Is it best to roll it over? Roth IRA? Where's a good place to do research? I've been a SAHM for a couple of years but plan to return to work in the next 6 months.

A lot of great suggestions! If you need something ready to go in the morning, you can make a big batch of oatmeal (with whatever toppings, raisins, nuts, etc you like) ahead of time, then portion it out to heat up the morning. You can also make the "egg cups"... mix your eggs, pour in muffin pans, add toppings (don't…

Where I came up with asking if I should use applesauce or sour cream, is based off of two recipes I've read recently. I don't eat yogurt because its a migraine trigger for me. chocolate zucchini bread recipe has applesauce http://www.sixsistersstuff.com/2012/04/chocolate-zucchini-bread-recipe.html banana bread recipe has…

I haven't tried to cut gluten so that's interesting. Not on birth control. I did try migrastick.(all natural) That helps a little sometimes. (You rub it on your temples. Basically inhaling scents like peppermint, etc) I have heard of feverfew but haven't tried it yet. I'll have to look for migrelief. Maxalt didn't work for…

I love what you said here! I've been overweight since I was a kid; fourth grade for sure, if not earlier. I did have some medical conditions that made me gain more weight as a kid and as an adult, but quite frankly, I was never taught to exercise as a kid. By high school, I tried Weight Watchers, once, and failed. As an…

frozen tri-color peppers are cheap, produce can be cheap, chocolate covered sunflower seeds, they have their own brand of "Pirates Booty", seasonal juices (right now is cherry cider - yum!), pizza veggie burgers (frozen), red pepper hummus, risotto (frozen), red pepper eggplant spread, and so much more! It's a small store,…

It IS hard. For me, too. It's hard to have willpower. It's hard to plan ahead, eat right, exercise and stay motivated. But, IMO, that is complete BS they won't let you bring your own food. That's not right, you know? Do you get a 15 min break or a 30 min lunch? Can you pack a lunch and eat in your car, or outside, or…

Obv everyone is different, but I've noticed some definition in my biceps and I think my jeans are a little looser. Those are motivational factors for me. It's not showing on the scale yet, for me, but I am doing both cardio and strength training, including trying new classes at the gym (zumba, yoga, pilates). I'm going to…

I agree with the people that have said that it can be used as a tool to aid you on your journey. It will work for some and not for others, just like WW, JC, Slimfast, Special K, or any other "diet". Ultimately, we all have to have a lifestyle change to ensure we eat properly and our weight loss results are forever. YOU…

She is an inspiration because she made the choice to get off her butt and actually BE at the gym ON the treadmill. Screw the others. This is her journey and noone can knock her down. Maybe ask if she's on MFP :flowerforyou: --BTW -- I'm really happy they were asked to leave.

bump. Thanks for posting! I'm needing motivation for the new me that I'm working on every day! And, I just found out my vitamin D levels were super low (16), so it's very interesting to see how this imbalance has effected others.
