my coworker bought scooby-doo gummies, and my other coworker and I decided to read the label --- 1 serving was 8 gummies for 80 calories. that's 10 calories for a tiny little waxy nugget for sugar with a weird after-taste! She asked if we wanted some . . . we declined.

I disagree here due to the fact that at least a third of the chips in the bag will get broken, and I'd rather not try to piece them back together before eating them. Also, I can't think of any chips or crackers etc. I've had that don't list in weight AND number of units (ie "30 grams/approximately 16 crackers") --- but I'm…

This is slightly off topic for this thread, but some of the serving sizes that users have entered for nutrition information on this site are ridiculous in a very BAD way. For example, for Humm brand hummus, the serving is listed (in more than one entry) as "1/3 cup (15 grams)" . . . . . . well, the 15 grams is correct, but…

starving people have no fat to hold on to -- you cannot compare a person who has never had enough to a person who has been over-indulging and then suddenly cuts themselves off. It's particularly harmful to under-eat most of the time, and then occasionally binge as then the body will convert as much as it can from the binge…

This is why I love the zeroing feature on my scale -- I reset as I add each thing to my plate/bowl, so for example if I wanted sauce on something I would zero and then pour it on the side, or directly on to my food (depending of course on the situation)

and this is why the Imperial system of weights and measures (the ones still used in the US) are ridiculous, and why the metric system was invented :p

You should be eating back your calories. When you set your weight loss goal, MFP automatically builds a calorie deficit into your target -- for example, I'm trying to lose 1 pound per week, so my deficit is 500 calories -- that means that MFP subtracts 500 calories from the total I would need to maintain my weight, and…

yes --- you've already set your weight-loss goal here, and when you go to your food diary it will tell you how many you have to eat including your adjustment for exercise. For example, I'm supposed to eat 1450 NET calories, which means that if I earn 300 from exercise I now get/have to eat back those calories bringing my…

Thanks UCB1984 --- the timing is mostly a function of what time the gym opens, and what time I have to catch my bus to work :) I figured that 3 rounds would be better than 2 consecutive sets in a round, but I've also been learning that in fitness the straight math doesn't always work out the way I think it will! Thanks for…

I hadn't heard of it for weight loss -- but it's definitely a healthier option for rehydrating than sports drinks are . . . . I can definitely believe that people who rehydrate after cardio with coconut water instead of high-sugar or fake sugar electrolyte drinks would experience faster weight loss!

When you say "no results" are you just tracking weight? Because there are many other things that will change, especially when you are first starting. How is your endurance? Perceived exertion rate? If you are using equipment that measures calorie burn, has your average calories per minute stayed the same, or is it…

And if you think that there are no plant-based sources of fat then you are not as smart or well-researched as you like to pretend you are.
-
Yes. It can tell how fast you are going as well as how many steps, and when you are going faster it ups your calorie burn. It will count hills as stairs though, which is a little disconcerting at first.

Congratulations, that is so amazing :) And good luck with your new goal!

No you don't, if you've got it set up to synch then MFP does the adjustments for you, subtracting what MFP expects you to burn from the fitbit totals before adding in the "adjustment"
-
There's no need to do that if you've set up your FitBit to synch with MFP as an adjustment is made that subtracts what MFP expected you to burn from the FitBit data -- you can even adjust a setting so that if you're less active than MFP expected it will reduce the number of calories you are allotted, but the default is to…

The One still counts steps during sleep mode --- if you get up during the night to get a glass of water etc it will show the steps in the morning. However, I've found that it doesn't register steps (much) while in a vehicle

that is what I was going to suggest. It depends what you mean by inexpensive, I guess, but with the cheap pedometers I've bought (all $20 or less, and the "rocker" variety in terms of counter) I went through three or four, didn't always remember to wear them, and found them extremely inaccurate (bumpy bus rides counted as…

I have a blog post that partly addresses this . . . part of my brain will do almost anything to stop me from working out, and a few times, even though I manage to get myself to the gym I will forget some aspect of my workout gear -- shorts or runners, etc. Although I would never work out in sandals or crocks (that's an…

I'll start by saying that I don't have the same health issues as you; but I do some Les Mills classes and have a bad knee and nerve damage in one shoulder, and I can let you know what I've noticed. The Les Mills classes that I do on a regular basis are BodyStep and RPM. I have some issues with my left knee, and I find that…
