  • Good grief you young 40 somethings are far too active for me. Isn't there a place on this forum for old people to sit and talk about the old days when we were thin?
  • You have one of these new talking passports? Wow!
  • I do it every day, first thing in the morning after first toilet visit, when I'm at home. I find particularly when I'm travelling, I tend to eat in hotels/restaurants, thus higher sodium than my normal, and don't always get the chance to drink as much so retain water. I was away all last week returning Thursday night. When…
  • Don't you find that monotonous? Delicious as it looks. The wonder of food is its glorious variety! Having said that, you're probably like my wife, she has eaten exactly the same for breakfast and lunch for the past 30 years to my certain knowledge, and tends to cook dinner on the principle 'If it's Tuesday, it must be x'.…
  • It's there in the post, on the bottom of the pic................ I'm guessing the "curry" would be commercial Thai Red Curry Paste, available from all good emporiums
  • @melinda - I'm sure you didn't mean it that way but your post came across a little bit like a sales pitch. You have to be a bit careful or the mods will jump on it. Looking at your profile there is no doubt you are genuine about the weight loss and have done very well so far, so I hope you don't take this as criticism,…
  • @meg - yes it's weird and happened again to me this week. Sunday to Friday, no loss showed on the scales, Saturday to this morning at home, lost nearly 4 lbs! Wish the weather would improve here in the UK, took the dog for a walk Saturday and had snow flurries! It was damn cold!! @ALL - where are you? You need to post to…
  • Probably superior  Welcome and good luck with your weight loss plans!
  • I don't think I actually miss anything. I used to eat a lot of potato crisps and biscuits (cookies), now I hardly eat potato crisps at all and very few biscuits, all within my allowance. I also have some chocolate now and again and on Friday I had a toasted hot cross bun for breakfast (with butter) instead of my usual eggs…
  • Personally I'm against animal testing..................

  • I think we're more or less in agreement here, what I was getting at was this posting "It's really simple. Once you go back to normal eating, you tend to eat everything; carbs, fat, protein. Let's say for example a cheeseburger... Your body uses carbs first as a fuel source. Fat will automatically be stored in the reserves…
  • Damn! Two things we agree on in the same thread!! I must be losing the plot
  • I don't understand this "Once you go back to normal eating.............". If you have that attitude of course you are much more likely to fail eventually. I never want to go back to 'normal' eating, that's what made me fat in the first place, all the biscuits (cookies), potato crisps, cakes, plus potatoes (usually fried)…

  • Congratulations on making the right lifestyle choice for you. That's a huge weight loss for a month, many on here will claim you can't keep it up, but I'm more open minded and say good for you, if you can make that work for you that's great. However I'm firmly in the meat and fish camp but that is part of my lifestyle…
  • That's so sad, particularly when you have a medical need to lose weight and are so young. As has been said above, do it for yourself, you deserve it, and to hell with the rest of them. If you follow your MFP targets you will lose weight, I have lost 26 lbs in two months and it hasn't been as hard as I expected and I now…
  • Me too as you might have guessed. I'm from the wee village of Torphichen, but I've been away a long, long time (maybe 50 years.....). My sister who lives abroad and I still email each other in what we call 'Oor Wullie speak"
  • Whit a difference - you're a wee cracker hen!!
  • @uhohkerri - Sand gets in everywhere, I can sympathise. I lived in Africa for a number of years and the dust in the dry season was probably worse as it was finer! There is nothing wrong with weighing yourself every day as long as you do so at the same time (ie first thing in the morning after toilet visit and before any…
  • Interesting, and makes good sense (I've read up about it now thanks to this post). I was wondering why, although my weight was going down well, my stomach only reduced a little. So now I feel sure the visceral fat has indeed gone down, and the subcutaneous fat (the bit you can grab hold of) just under the skin will take a…
  • Yoghurt YEUCH!! Why would anyone want to eat gone off milk????? My too much of is only a food in the sense of being close to mother's milk - whisky
  • Wow! Flood of newbies!! Welcome Tnsumner, Jena, Abigail, Ashley, and Maria, I'm sure you'll get, and give, the support you, and we, need here. @Penny - Sorry to hear you're having such hassles, try to relax and have fun this weekend, life has a funny way of sorting itself out, usually in strange ways (or at least mine…
  • @uhohkerri - I was breathless reading through your list, that's one mega pile of cleaning! @meg - Welcome, don't assume your weight has actually gone up, it could be sodium and water retention. I travel a lot, during which I tend to eat in hotels/restaurants, thus high sodium, and not drink as much, so when I get home it…
  • Actually this is a commonly repeated myth that Columbus discovered the world was not flat. In fact the ancient Greeks, among them Pythagoras and Aristotle postulated this and it is also thought ancient Indian astronomers also knew this around the same time. By the Middle Ages when Columbus appeared on the scene, most…
  • Honey, take it easy, it's never as bad as you think it is. Chill and let the stress flow over and out of you, no-one needs stress. You're doing this for yourself, right? It's you that matters, yes the kids are important and they need you, but this is about you. And if you need a day off, why shouldn't you take one, there…
  • Interesting that you should be in 85 days and lost nothing at all, though on the other hand you don't really have a lot to lose which may be the reason, I'm told the closer you get to your target weight, the harder it becomes. However you must be doing something wrong, though it's anyone's guess what it is. I've counted…
  • For those talking "starvation mode" - Please the OP has only been at it 3 days!! Now, read what Weightwatchers say about the starvation mode myth and note particularly " there is no biologic evidence to support the "starvation mode" myth" - "Restricting calories during weight loss lowers metabolism because the body becomes…
  • Another vote for eggs, any which way. I normally have boiled or poached at home, but when travelling whatever I can get, I sometimes have an egg with a sausage or bacon rasher which still keeps calories reasonable. I tend to vary this with fruit, and in that case I have a heavier lunch.
  • Big difference, looking great and hey, you'll look really hot when you reach your target
  • I don't bother logging water as I usually drink more than the 8 cups a day, but I log everything else, including black coffee because it makes me feel good to see items with zero calories in my diary!
