  • A suggestion once was to paint your nails. Personally I like to get up and brush my teeth, not much I want after a fresh brush of the teeth than ice cold water.
  • I use plain greek yogurt a lot in meals. Today for lunch was a turkey taco salad, no dressing I use a few ounces of plain greek yogurt and hot salsa to top my salad. Total protein count was 41 grams.
  • Try sucking on mints, brushing your teeth, chew gum, hot tea or a hard candy.
  • Making time for exercise was something that I don't regret one bit. I don't "schedule" my exercise time so much as I look at exercise differently. When I go for a run I forget about everything else, nothing matters but keeping my eyes and ears open to the traffic hazzards. When I want to read I grab my kindle and head…
  • Meat and cheese roll ups, take a slice of string cheese and a fe slices of sandwich meat and roll them up, makes a handy finger food. I used to snack on PB and crackers on my way to the gym in the early morning hours.
  • I was wondering this exact thing. I always just pop mine in the oven and it cooks while opening gifts or showering and getting ready for work. I make breakfast casserole regularly and haven't tried the crock pot style mostly because I don't see the need to use 6-8 hours of electricity for it. Also breakfast casserole…
  • I'll be going for a run in my raincoat on Christmas morning while hubby works. I discovered that's my favorite time to run when everyone else is absorbed with the holidays, Easter, 4th of July and Thansgiving runs were amazing so peaceful, very little traffic so I'm hoping Christmas will be the same even if mother nature…
  • I almost always have precooked meals in the freezer like chili, soup or a pasta dish. So in a pinch that's the first place I go, the freezer.
  • Oh this looks fabulous! Thanks for sharing I just might have to adjust my dinner tonight because it sounds just that good.
  • I do watch my sugar intake mostly because there's a number of adult onset diabetics in my family so why not make it a habit now before I HAVE to worry about it and maybe I'll completely avoid the issue.
  • YES! This has been going on here too, tons and tons of cookies, cakes and chocolates and honestly they just hold no appeal at all. I will admit I do check them out and if there was something that truly appealed to me I might have it but I'm also not disappointed when I see nothing if anything it kind of boosts my spirits…
  • You could make meat and cheese roll ups, I use string cheese and roll up with ham and/or turkey. Hard boiled eggs, grapes, apple wedges and sliced veggies are all great side options. If you like to dip your veggies you can make a greek yogurt based dip or grab PB or hummus. One of my favorite "sandwiches" is a veggie wrap,…
  • HAHAHA gotta love the backhanded compliment. Just brush it off, you can't let the little things like this bother you. People have odd ways of expressing themselves so the next time she says it just smile and say thank you, I'll be sure to credit a portion of my weight loss to you for your kind and encouraging words.
  • THANK YOU so much for sharing this. I am right there with you, older than you but our starting and current stats are very close (we're talking within 3 pounds) and I'm about an inch shorter so your pics give me a better image of what others see when they see me. We're even running at about the same pace for a 5k, so nice…
  • I'm not sure if we'll celebrate Christmas on Christmas day or if we'll celebrate the day after since hubby will be working on Christmas day. Typically he has cinnamon rolls as was his family tradition and I have a breakfast of eggs, homefries and meat as was my family tradition. The rest of the meals that day are a…
  • Use the stairwells to your advantage. You tube videos for yoga, jumping jacks, push ups, burpees, mountain climbers and so on.
  • plain greek yogurt mixed with either soup, veggie or ranch dip mix served with sliced cucumbers and red peppers.....fantastic!
  • I am who I am and the best part of that is that I like myself. I couldn't have said that a short time ago but for the past 2 years instead of being focused on weight I've focused on ME, still doing everything else that I always do but factoring myself into the equation and you wouldn't believe the things I've learned. So…
  • Congratulations on coming so far on the journey without the support of others on MFP. The fact that you're reaching out now will help you, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow but it's a step closer to what you'd like to achieve. All I can really say is keep on going, sometimes it takes a while for our minds to be ready to…
  • This is the perfect example of who has grown up and who's still acting like high school kids. Kudos to you for seeing their behavior as wrong. You're 27 and overweight, so was I and you know what, all of that led me to the person I am today. I remember the snotty comments about weight or marriage or the fact I didn't have…
  • Welcome to Onederland, may it be a lifetime membership!
  • Oh my! I'm actually glad I took the time to read through this entire thread. I don't think I ever intentionally took anything out of my diet over the years but at some point it seems I've cut a ton of stuff out mostly because it doesn't taste good anymore. I guess if I could say what I can't believe is that I ever ate as…
  • I guess I'm the oddball, I love my black bean brownies and mine do come out fudgy so perhaps it's all in how you make them. I don't drain my beans, I puree them until smooth then add a box of mix (never tried from scratch) and bake. I prefer to have nuts in my brownies but like them with or without. Note that you really do…
  • Sounds like you need some planning in order to get in that breakfast and no it doesn't have to be at 6am when you get up. You can make egg muffin cups, using cupcake pans just spray the tins with cooking spray then dump in a bunch of chopped veggies, meats, cheese and either egg whites or whole eggs. Bake them during…
  • I'd get a big glass dish and put them out to share, enjoy the color of the wrappers and since they are individually wrapped put just a few in your desk drawer for portion control.
  • You've got some great advice here so I'll just a few things that help me when I travel. Bring snacks in the car, if you have to bring a small cooler. Always keep sneakers in the car, anytime can become time for a walk. When you do stop at rest areas walk around the rest area, if it's cold jog/run around the rest area and…
  • I was the heavy kid growing up so I can totally understand where you're coming from. I was "too fat to be a cheerleader" at schoole. My brother (much older) actually offered to by me a whole new wardrobe when I was around 14 if I lost 50 pounds. He didn't recognize me last Christmas. All I can really say to you is…
  • Congratulations on trying new things! My biggest suggestion would be to just start adding things you like to your spinach and feta. Naturally I think of cranberries, pecans and turkey and you'll most likely like goat cheese if you like feta. One of my absolute favorite salads is cheeseburger salad, basically I make a salad…
  • Poultry and pork will also absorb fruit flavors very well. Toss a can of mandarin oranges in the crock pot with chicken and let it cook down, add onions and peppers with a splash of soy sauce and it's got a taste similar to chinese orange chicken. Pork and apples are a natural combo, toss a pork roast in the oven or crock…
  • Before you eat take a few minutes to think about what you want, salty, sweet, a mix of the two. Often times we eat a healthy meal and if we're not satisfied and we mistake the wanting something else as hunger. Sometimes tweaking the meal itself will give you that satisfied feeling and it's as simple as adding a little…
