Hey, if you have her do like a mohawk on the back, it will look like a mud stripe!!!!

Way to go!!!

I think that what you said about "enough opinions for and against" any topic in fitness and health is true. What the nutrition consultant said MIGHT have come from 2 places. IF the consultant wasn't familiar with research on plain ole' carbonated water, the opinion might have drawn on research from flavored carbonated…

This is why I praised her for recording her treat. So that as time goes on, the treats do become more healthy, and eventually, a treat is just part of your normal healthy diet. (diet: as in overall food intake --- as opposed to DIE-et: the depriving oneself of food)

I bet the 1 cup is cooked. 1 cup of uncooked pasta is HUGE when it is cooked. Edit: Also, the weight on the box is the dry measurement weight... aka grams, ounces, pounds, etc... The other meaning of ounce (fl. oz) is a volume measurement... ounce, cup, liter, etc... Just another reason why the English language and SAE…

onebeer, that is awesome!!! Don't fret the plateau, we all get them. Just keep pushing through. If your plateau persists, try increasing your calories by cutting your goal in 1/2 or a 1/4 or whatever. That kinda shakes things up a bit. Also, since you are doing fantastic on the exercise front, try adding some strength…

Come on Julie!! So, you have over 2/3rd of your goal all ready, and now you are at a plateau. I just kicked my second plateau, so is this really your first plateau? Time to put on the big girl panties and do the hard work. :grumble: That is pushing yourself through the plateau. None of us can push you through,…

I did the exact same thing and came to the exact same conclusion. Did you weigh at the same time of day? If you weighed initially at night, and then again in the morning, you could have 4 or 5 lbs difference there, just because you are "filled up" at night, and in the morning, after relieving yourself, you are empty.…

I just did a search on carbonated water... and there appears to be a myth running around about calcium depletion, but that only occurs in caffienated beverages. The carbonation in club soda/seltzer/carbonated water is H2CO3: carbonic acid. The acid quickly converts to H20 and CO2, giving the fizz. The acid is a relatively…

As I was reading, I thought you were going to say "You would be better off just throwing it out and eating the box!"

Wow... I got 50 lbs to go!!!

That is absolutely true. The calories in-calories out / 3500 model works for the intervals between weigh-ins. So, a little over one day and a little under the next do cancel each other out. But try not to bank calories from one day to the next, because there are other affects that happen when you eat huge one day and not…

I have heard of this from others recently. It really makes it nearly impossible to count calories!!! Also, I think it is criminal, because there is (IMHO) an implicit contract between the consumer and the producer. That contract says the consumer will provide a set monetary compensation in consideration for a given…

I am proud of you for logging your cheat day! While we all need to enjoy life, and not punish ourselves, I think it is important that we be honest with ourselves and at least see what we have chosen.

Welcome to the best website on the internet. You will be as successful as you want to be if you stick with it!!!!

I think this is good advice for anyone looking to lose weight. You stick to your plan, and you will be highly successful!!!

Welcome Chinuahawk!!!! There are a couple ways to look at it. One is like the "war on drugs" slogan: Just say NO! But... that is only the first step. It isn't very practical if you have other issues... such as no food available. So, if you are like a bunch of us guys (especially here in the deep fried south), you don't…

Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and burn off some calories. You will make it!!!!

Sweetrevenge, YOU WERE NOT BAD. Did you make a bad decision? Might be, I can't judge. I went over my calorie limit by about 200 calories yesterday too. And the worst part... I did it after realizing I was already 100 calories over. What is 200 calories? 200 calories is 2 cups of non-fat yogurt. 200 calories is 2 slices of…

You can do it!!!! You are nearing that 6-8 week hurdle. They say it takes 8 weeks to create a habit. Why, because your mind rebels against change. Here are the facts: 80 calories will not, on a daily basis, make you hungry or satiated from a physical perspective. So, if 80 calories isn't going to affect you physically,…

Casper... thanks for teaching the class. I'm not a motorcycle rider myself, but my bro-in-law is a HUGE rider (i.e. was a ranked racer in the circuit in Spain, when he was stationed there). He had an accident a couple years ago, where a car ran a red light in front of him. His reflexes allowed him to hit the rear quarter…

Welcome to MFP!!! This site provides what you will need to be successful... structure that you control, knowledge, motivation, support, and most important, fun! I have a link in my signature that sums up my advice for newbies. The only other advice I have is get yourself a slow cooker and a wok, and learn how to use them.…

Way to go!!! I have a long way before I am overweight. Congratulations!!!!

            My mother once told me, "If you can't say anything nice... don't say anything at all." I think I am gonna have to take her advice. To many opportunities for hurt feelings here!!!

Ok... so starting with this comment: 1. Did you ever hear about a skinny person becoming obese by eating 5 slices of pizza? :noway: 2. Did you ever hear of a fat person gaining 5 lbs from eating 5 slices of pizza? :grumble: Are you understanding the whole long term (a.k.a. lifelong) lifestyle change thing?…

And MFP is responsible.

Casper... I think you need to get some of the aforementioned duct tape... it appears your hair slid down your face!!!

I think that what allislefttogain is trying to say is basically right, but have to agree with Little Spy on the BMI measurement. Instead of using BMI, when you get to a point where you are ready to zero in your goal, get your % body fat measured, and use % body fat as your measuring stick, and work out your target weight…

Duct tape sounds good, 'cept it is hard on the saurkraut when you remove it!!!!

The wonderful thing about the wagon is that when you get off (fall, jump, or get thrown), the wagon stops... and all you got to do is climb back aboard. Welcome aboard and welcome back aboard!!!
