It would be great if I could find someone like that. You are very lucky. Unfortunately none of my friends are on the same track I am when it comes to life right now and I work too much to go out looking for new groups of people to be around.

Thank you. It's a good thing I am hardwired to not let others get me down. I appreciate the concern even if some of it comes in the form of total patronization. I know that I need to be careful, be prepared, be aware of my surroundings. I plan on speaking with others who have hiked this trail and getting as much advice as…

Or defeat the purpose and get on my ever loving last nerve. I can't think of many people I'd want to spend a few days alone with at all really.

I actually do have a trail map and a compass, too. The cell phone was in response to all of the people mentioning beacon apps, gps, checking in with friends or family etc.

I'm making brownies tonight with my boys. Pics to come later :)

To be fair the author of the article was also of the opinion that men should wear T shirts to the gym and not sleeveless shirts or tanks. He just didn't say that seeing some guy in tight, sexy clothes would give him a "pump" in other areas.

I am a feeder. I show my support with food.

Unless and until a thread is closed by a moderator anyone is welcome to also reply and give their opinion or answer in a thread even if someone else has already responded. Plenty of chances to go around for everyone. You don't get brownie points for being the first to respond either.

We had a guy come into our office using chewing tobacco and spit into the trash can. Blew my mind that someone would be so disgusting. It may not be as invasive as smoking, but it still stinks.

Thanks everyone. Just to answer a few questions, I am in South Central Indiana and the trail is located right here. There should be full cell coverage the whole time. It is a well established marked trail with designated camping areas located in a state forest. I do have experience hiking and camping, I have just never…

Your area is probably much more remote than anywhere I will be anytime soon. I hope I don't see a lot of people since that is the point of the trip, but I know I am not ready to be in the complete wilderness just yet. Taking a little bit of both sides of the advice seems like a good idea to me. I'm really more concerned…

Thanks. I will look into beacon apps.

Thank you. Very good suggestions. I would have never even thought about Benadryl.

That's a possibility but I am not sure how necessary it would be. I keep one in my home but don't really feel the need to carry though.

If I go it will be on a well established trail complete with dedicated camping areas and whatnot. I don't live in the mountains and I am pretty sure there are very few areas in my state without cell reception. I am not brave enough to just take off into the wilderness with nothing but a compass and high hopes just yet.

I did a quick search of coyote attacks because we definitely have those. It looks like most of the attacks that happen around my area are in more urban areas where the coyotes have a lessened fear of humans. That is definitely something else to keep in mind, though. Most likely I would be staying at dedicated camping areas…

Thank goodness I am not in bear country at all. We do have some snakes around here but I have yet to run across anything more dangerous than a garter snake. I am okay with keeping it that way.

Thanks for the safety tips. If I go it will definitely be in state. I will check cell reception for the area. I didn't even think about that. I guess I could train a carrier pigeon if nothing else, but yeah, checking in with someone is a good idea. I do not have access to a big dog to take with me, but I kind of wish I…

I don't think I actively pursue men with any particular body type. This new description of the way some men look is not any different. It still boils down to personality, humor, common interests and values. If these things line up with someone, you make a decent match. Looks are secondary.

Go buy another water bottle and lick the top as you walk by her and explain that you thoroughly lick ALL of your water bottles when you buy them.

I had pork rinds and baby carrots for breakfast today.

My kids get them occasionally but only because they have asked for them ahead of time. Maybe once a month. Their lunches are nearly always the same thing which I make the night before. Kid 1 gets his honey ham on a hamburger bun with mustard and kid 2 get's his on wheat bread with mayo and cheese cut into 3 pieces. They…

Willfully eat hospital food? :s

Beer and nachos.

My kids are kind of picky and it's not their fault that I have certain goals. Many times what I will do to compromise is turn whatever protein I have cooked into a big salad for myself and just have a smaller portion of whatever they are having on the side. That makes them happy because I make the best macaroni and cheese…

Get up at 4 instead of 5 and work out. Meal prep so all you have to do is heat dinner instead of cooking every night. Work out after doing nails. Work out on your lunch hour. I like to get up and work out in the morning as it really wakes me up and focuses me for the day. I also get runs in when I can. Sometimes the only…

You don't have to. I drink so I can tolerate people better.

Thank you for that.

Was it clarified that this was written policy and the mother ignored it? I haven't seen in any of the articles or heard in the comments what exactly the school's policy on packed lunches is outside of the ridiculous note they sent home with the cookies.
