  • You cannot "spot reduce" on a particular area, as nice as that would be. What you need to do is continue doing what you're doing so you can lower your overall body fat percentage. Every person's body is different so we're going to lose fat from certain places first and other places will take a lot longer to come off. Eat…
  • Of course women should love themselves and their bodies! But that doesn't mean that they should not exercise and maintain a healthy body fat percentage. Women (and men) should strive to be the best they can be, and part of that is being healthy. If they're not there yet, they need to move in that direction. It's not too…
  • I've only dropped my phone on carpet, tile, and sidewalk. No toilet or any kind of water.
  • October 3, 1995 I was 8 years old and in 3rd grade. Too young to talk about that stuff with. I probably overheard some things from the adults but nobody talked directly to me about it. Where was I? At home or at school depending on what time of day it was...
  • Child = 0-17 Young adult = 18-39 Middle aged = 40-61 Senior = 62+
  • BMR is a good place to start. If you lose weight, great. If your weight loss slows down for more than a week or two, you can take it a bit lower. 1200 should be the lower limit but it isn't ideal for everyone, especially for people who are just getting started or people who have a lot of weight to lose (BMR is much higher…
  • Sugar from fruit is fine... in moderation. It's important to have fruit in one's diet but too much of anything can be a bad thing. Watch your sugar macros and try to stay under the limit.
  • So today was a "maintenance day" rather than a weight loss day. Sometimes you just need a break. You can go back to the 1200 diet tomorrow.
  • MFP has a lot of restaurant foods in the database. If the calorie count isn't on the online menu you should check it. It's okay to treat yourself, just don't do it very often. One meal can have a lot of calories and undo a week of progress especially as you get closer to your goal and the weight is more difficult to lose.…
  • They are cute. :)
  • I'm about being healthier and looking better in pics. I have a small frame so weight shows up very easily on me. I would like to be stronger but I don't have extra money at this point to buy equipment or join a gym or sign up for classes. I would like to start something in the fall once the weather cools down a bit. I want…
  • Zumba! ETA: There are going to be days when your don't feel like working out. But you need to make yourself do it anyway or you won't reach you goals. Also, things that are outside are good because you can enjoy the scenery rather than staying in the same spot.
  • You can eat what you want, just not as much of it as you're used to eating. It's about portion control. Use MFP to log calories and try to reach your macros or at least get something into each group for nutrition. Staying under your calorie goal is good too because you can use the extra points for 6 days to know how much…
  • Nice job! Keep up the good work!
  • 178 cm (5' 10") and 63 kg (138.9 lbs) is very thin. I think he should maintain his weight, exercise/lift to get rid of any extra fat, and then bulk up after he's gotten as strong as he can at his current weight.
  • Log everything and keep your diet at 80/20. 80% healthy, 20% indulgence. You can eat what you want, just not as much as you want. This will be a good exercise in portion control (have things you like but in a small enough amount that it won't make you go over).
  • I think a lot of people are too easily offended these days. Being asked to do something because you're strong is a compliment. And a man offering to help a woman carry something is trying to be a gentleman. They are not trying to be a jerk by asking for help or offering to help. :(
  • I like these weight charts because they account for frame size. However, if you're muscular it's possible to go over by a bit and still have a healthy body fat percentage. • Keep your calorie intake low. Don't deprive yourself. Follow the 80/20 rule so you can still eat what you like, just in smaller portions. Cutting out food groups is not healthy, you need a balance. Some foods tend to be higher in calories than other groups but part of eating right is choosing a little from each food group.
  • Great job! Keep up the good work! :)
  • Portion control. Eat what you like, just less of it. Don't forget to log food and drink. Keep your diet at 80/20 so you don't deprive yourself and you don't overdo it.
  • Good job on the weight loss! I wonder if legs that look "too big" (other than the genetic factor that can't be helped; some women are pear-shaped and are going to have bigger thighs) come from overexercising certain muscles. I know you can't spot reduce but once the body fat comes off the muscles are more visible. A lot of…
  • Go for a walk Go for a swim Go to a gym Buy some exercise DVDs (Jillian Michaels, Beachbody) YouTube videos Join a fitness class of some kind (dance, martial arts, skating, etc.)
  • Inches are more important than pounds. There will be times when your body is changing fat into muscle and the weight will stay close to the same but you will be losing inches. That's why your check-in should have weight as well as measurements. You are still losing weight. Nothing to worry about. Losing weight slowly may…
  • I'll open my diary in a few months. I don't have a regular income right now and can't afford a lot of foods so my diet is weird. I try to stay under 1200 but haven't been successful. Luckily I'm not over by too much so I'm still losing weight.
  • Of course a study sponsored by a soft drink company is going to find that people will lose more weight drinking diet soda... is anyone really surprised at this? People need to stop putting unnecessary (non-medically necessary) chemicals in their bodies. We are just now beginning to discover the long-term effects of…
  • If you maintain your current weight during your pregnancy then you will lose a bunch of weight when the baby is born. You will need to eat enough to feed your growing baby and a little for yourself but you don't necessarily have to gain weight.…
  • Eat more calorie-dense foods. And drink some of your calories (healthy drinks). You should be able to hit 1200. Although it's not the worst thing to eat less than 1200 if you feel full. But watch your weight loss. There was an article on someone who ate 1000 calories/day and they stayed the same weight for years although…
  • If I go 500+ calories over my daily goal. That is the point where it hurts weight loss because 1 lb/week is 500 calorie deficit per day so I would have no deficit at that point.
