When I started [2011], MFP set my budget at 1600. I lost close to 1/2 pound per week. Now, I maintain at 1870. Most days, I'm a little under that; some days I exceed it. But 1870 is my magic number. Lots of people on here complicate things with other plans like TDEE. I had no idea what that was -- still don't -- & I did…

Sure you can. If you have to. A bad back (2 surgeries) & a 'dead' right leg prevents me from being active. Walking (even with a cane or a walker) 100 feet makes my back ache for 10-15 minutes. Zero exercise. So, I maintain by budgeting calories. Period. About 1870 per day. I've been at my goal weight, well +/- 3 pounds,…

I've been on maintenance since November of 2011. Just got home from a week's vacation, during which time I gained 4 pounds. No big deal; I lost about 40 in eleven months, so what's 4 piddling pounds -- nothing! So, I trim back 100 calories a day for a while, and I'll be good. You can do the same. Have a little faith in…

I have retired from officiating football, but while active in that avocation, it was routine for me to weigh 8 or 9 pounds less after a game compared to my pre-game weight. That fluctuation over about a 3 or 4 hour period was due mostly to fluid loss, sweat. After rehydration, my weight returned to my previous pre-game…

Took me ten months to lose 39 pounds. Hit a plateau about halfway through -- didn't lose an ounce for 6 weeks. I was stubborn & didn't change a thing, and started losing again. I've been on maintenance for almost 7 1/2 years, during which time I've been +/- 3 pounds of my goal. Currently I'm a half pound above goal.

Plateau, stalled, whatever ... I lost zero from the first part of April to the end of May. I didn't change anything, just stubborn, I guess. Then, things were back to normal. Discouraging, yes, but not to the point of giving up.
