I feel your pain on that one, but you cannot compare your progress to your husbands! When my boyfriend moved in with me, he went from eating out almost every day to cooking and packing lunches to work, and lost 10 lbs in less than a week! It is frustrating to me too, but you have to realize your body is different than his.…

This is my favorite response! It is honestly them missing out, not you. If that person wants to spend tons of money on a trainer and yet ruin it all with too many calories, then they won't see results and will fail in the end.. and you win. I understand it may be annoying, but in the long run, if you are losing weight and…

I'm 27 years old, 5'5 and I have about 25 lbs to lose. Possibly getting engaged sometime next year so I have a good motivation to get rid of all this!!

We have a gym at my facility, yet I can't see myself working out on lunch and getting sweaty and coming back to the office. So the one thing that helps me is just reminding myself to get up as often as I can! I drink a ton of water, and both the restrooms and water cooler are on the other side of the building so I walk…

I typically stick with vodka and club soda, or rum and unsweetened iced tea. Mixers like club soda, any kind of diet soda, or light/diet iced tea are typically 0 calories, so you are only getting calories from the alcohol which is 50-100 depending on the type/grade. I like to stay away from the super mixed drinks like…

Thank you for the advice.. I think I will do that! I am sure he won't complain when I do reach my goal and I am sexy as hell. He just has a hard time understanding since he doesn't need to work as hard as I do to stay fit.

Hahaha headofphat, I love him, but sometimes I want to! It frustrates me how easy it is for him to stay thin. He decides one day he wants to pay attention to portions and watch what he eats, and he loses 6 lbs in a week. I have to constantly remind him that if I ate like him or did not try as hard as I do, I would be huge.…

The other day while cooking I made a comment to my boyfriend that I would like to buy a food scale, so I know how much meat I am eating. I am good at measuring out my liquid foods and even counting my servings for crackers/snacks, but have no way of knowing how many oz of meat I am consuming except for eyeballing it (which…

Like a few other people have said on here, I believe you CAN eat what you want, as long as it fits in your calorie goals. There is a reason fad diets don't work, and why yo-yo dieting is so common. People try to eliminate food groups, saying they are on a "diet" and will only eat clean food, with absolutely no junk. This…

First of all, congratulations on your success! But I think this is the exact reason why so many people here on MFP dislike the word "diet". When you avoid certain food groups, it becomes very hard to introduce those foods back in to your diet without abdominal distress or putting the weight back on. Personally, I enjoy all…

I think the issue is that some people look at those of us that are considered skinny or healthy, and automatically assume it is easy and comes naturally. They don't understand that in order to look this way, we HAVE to work at it! I can't eat whatever I want and not work out, that is how I gained the 30 lbs in college that…

I love fashion, and find myself looking at outfits on Pinterest all the time, weather it be casual or business outfits. But, when I used to go shopping to look for the items in that outfit.. I used to be very discouraged and would not buy anything! Now I am beginning to love shopping again, and I actually feel happy when I…

As most people have said, when you don't have much to lose, 1 lb a week is exactly where you want to be. I know it is hard to go that slow, I am in the same boat. But, when you only have 10-20 lbs to lose (as opposed to 100+), you can't expect that to happen so quickly. Also remember that muscle is more dense than fat. So…

I stopped making excuses for myself!! "I never have time to work out and can't wake up any earlier" - Now I wake up at 4:15 AM to work out before work! It was hard at first, but now my body has adjusted to that time and become reliant on those morning endorphins. "I am not willing to ruin my social life" - Now when I go…

Like most people here have already said, enjoy your vacation! You work hard all year long in so many ways, including your weight loss journey. If I were you, I would forget about MFP and the scale and just enjoy yourself. I went to Germany for 3 weeks over the holidays this year, and I indulged every chance I got. Even…

Agree with this. What is it that you're drinking? Stick to zero or low calorie mixers, like diet coke, unsweetened tea, or club soda. You should be able to go out and have some drinks without consuming 1000+ calories while out. One vodka+club soda only has about 70-90 calories, depending on the grade of vodka. On top of…

This is very interesting to see people with similar height and weight, yet such a variety in sizes! I am 5'5, 143 lbs and I typically wear a size 6 in pants, and usually a small in tops. But this tends to vary store to store, which is maybe why some of us have such different sizes listed. All of my dress slacks for work…

Please do NOT ever eat below your BMR! I agree with bajoyba, you must be confusing TDEE with BMR. If you eat below your BMR, your body will not have enough calories and nutrients to even function if you laid in bed all day and did not move!! OP, go to iifym.com and calculate your TDEE based on your daily activity level,…

Try to stay away from beer and high calorie sugary mixers! I gained weight in college from drinking way too much beer, and vodka cranberries. Now I typically go for vodka with club soda (zero calories). Depending on the percentage and brand of vodka, you are looking at about 60-80 calories per oz. The club soda is a good…

I wake up at 4-4:15 to work out Monday through Friday, as I have to leave for work by 6 AM. I have been doing this for about a month, and I have to say it feels great. So many days I just want to turn off the alarm for another hour, but I know once I am into the workout, my energy will change. By the time I am in the…

I do not sleep in my workout clothes, but I typically have them set out and ready to go the night before. I can't get myself to actually leave the house that early (my workouts begin at 4-4:15 AM), so I have my yoga mat, weights and DVD's ready to go when I wake up as well. The first week will be really hard, but once you…

Hello, I am 5'5" and 26 years old. My current weight is 145 with measurements of 34-27-40 and 27% body fat. My goal would be about 130-133 lbs with measurements of 34-26-36 which would put me at about 21-22% body fat. My body role models are Jennifer Lawrence and Kaley Cuoco!

I do something very similar, but my main reason is because I am gone all day and need to take the entire days worth of food with me. I work from 630-3, and I go to school in the evenings until about 7 PM. I eat breakfast at home before I leave the house, but when I leave, I have lunch, dinner and 2-3 snacks with me. I…

This has always been mine too! I work full time and I am going to grad school in the evenings, so time was always my biggest excuse. But, for the past month I have been waking up at 4 AM to work out, and it has paid off! I feel more energetic throughout the day and I star the day knowing my workout is complete which is a…

Although you cannot spot reduce a poster above me stated, I like the phrase "Abs are made in the kitchen, not in the gym". The lower part of your stomach (or the pooch as you call it) is pretty synonymous with the kinds of food that you eat. You can eat at a deficit and work out like crazy, but if you are making poor diet…

They say to recalculate your caloric needs every 5-10 pounds, so I would say try to redo your numbers and see if anything changes! Check out IIFYM.com and find out what the recommended caloric intake is for your weight, height and activity level and try to eat 15-20% below that.
