If you can afford it, hire one of the personal trainers that work in that gym for one session. They can "hold your hand" and show you around the weight area, so the next time you go won't be as intimidating.

Yes, create a calorie deficit, and you lose weight. But, according to you, we all massively over estimate the amount of calories we burn from exercise - by following those evil HRMs, instead of your superior knowledge. So, how do we lose weight? For example: I burned 1099 kCal by walking for 2 hours yesterday, according to…

This is great for beginners - I absolutely love this program!!!! I finished it a while ago after NEVER being a runner ever, and now I'm doing the 5 to 10k program, with a view of completing a marathon in 2014 - before I started C25K, I wouldn't have contemplated a lap of a running track, let alone a marathon.

Having spent my teen years living in a 70 bed dormitory with communal locker room/showers, i have absolutely no nudity taboos, and am totally clueless as to when I'm making other guys feel uncomfortable with my nudity....

I like the image of loosing weight. It's like setting it free into the wild. When you lose something you often end up finding it again!!

Not the only one, but I think we're a minority here...

If you already have hiking gear, try geocaching. Just download a free geocaching app for your phone (or splurge $10 on the official app), become a basic member of geocaching.com (also free) and go for it! You will barely notice that you're burning calories :)

I'm using the Run Double apps. While their website only talks about the timed Five to 10K app, when you purchase it, there is also a distance option, which is what I'm using. It may be that other apps have the same option, but also focus on promoting the timed program....

Completed C25K on the 2nd of April, and I'm now doing the Five to 10K program!! Just did week 2 day 1 this morning :)

I haven't run in a race, yet - I live in the middle of nowhere, so there are no races that don't involve a plane ride - but the first time I ever did 5k was in the last week of finishing the c25k program, and I did that in 31:54. I think I could take a few minutes off of that in a race environment.

<<<<<<<<<< You see what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps? Phone's ringing, Dude. You know, Dude, I myself dabbled in pacifism once. Not in 'Nam of course. Then you know he's got emotional problems, man. You mean... beyond pacifism? Calmer than you are.

I did a juice fast for January of this year - I loved the feeling (after the first 3 days) and the results. Since then, I have juiced daily, and found that, after the fast, I craved a whole food, plant based diet, instead of the junk and sugar based diet I was eating before. I used recipes from rebootwithjoe.com and found…

You could try something like this: http://www.thesneakychef.com/ where you 'hide' the veggies in food so you can't taste it.... What I did, though, was to do a juice fast to reboot your palate, so that you can learn to enjoy the more subtle flavours of veggies! I went from being a pizza and chips guy to a mainly vegan guy…
