  • I do these- they're delicious! Also chicken breast, chops, kebabs, toasted sandwiches, mushrooms grill really well. I use a sheet of silicon liner top and bottom, this stops the George from smoking really badly and is easier to clean.
  • Mine's open, feel free to check it out. I warn you though it's not the diary of a clean eater
  • and almonds - I admire people who can weigh out 30g and put the rest back in the cupboard, I just nibble til they're gone! A low calorie granola that doesn't taste like sawdust would be good too. It's one of the only things that I've had to give up because my portion control is so bad :embarassed:
  • Phone a friend and have a natter. Tidy your wardrobe and sort your clothes, bag up the biggest ones - you won't need them any more! Plan your food for the coming week. Sleep.
  • I have a goal of 1300 calories a day and I would go over constantly if I didn't exercise. In fact, this is why the MFP system has worked for me when every other diet has crashed and burned, so long as I exercise then I can eat 1500 -1800 calories a day. I've been doing this since June, I have lost about 35lb so far and I…
  • You need to search for the discussion threads about "surprisingly high calorie foods" - and then eat them! My favourites are muffins, granola, bananas, mixed fruit and nuts, trail mix, cheese (on toast) and cookies. If you eat small, frequent snacks you should be able to make 3000 calories. I think that your water…
  • I wear a Fitbit to monitor my movement and according to my gizmo over the last week my lowest burn was yesterday at 1939 and my highest was 2843 on Tuesday (crazy busy day at work plus gym). I'm 5'6" and weigh 69kg. Even if my Fitbit is over-estimating then I think I'm still probably burning around the 2000 mark plus some.…
  • I leave for work just after 7 in the morning and I just can't eat at that time, it's too early! If I'm not working I'll get up later and I'm quite happy to eat around 9. Early eating just doesn't suit me at all so I have a cup of tea and then have an early lunch at about midday. Seems to work for me, I don't ever seem to…
  • Rats! No raspberry ketones or fat dissolving magic fairy dust?? I'll just carry on with logging then! Congratulations on your success, so impressive! Especially losing weight over Christmas and New Year, Yay! :flowerforyou:
  • Maidstone! I think there's a few UK groups filled with people who understand stones!
  • I had purple stretch marks on my stomach after my 2nd pregnancy, they faded away completely - no silver lines at all, and the skin didn't go saggy. I think the degree of permenent damage depends on how much and for how long the skin was stretched.
  • Well that's Canada off my list of potential places to live!! No Marmite, no Penguins and no Ovaltine (not bothered so much about Lucozade). Wait! Does that mean that p-p-p-p-Penguins can be classed as vitamin/mineral rich and are therefore "good for you"? Yay!
  • Puppies breath, driving on grass, the garden after it's rained, geranium leaves, wet horses, the smell when the washing machine is on a hot wash (sort of uber-detergent smell).
  • I have an MFP friend who started using meal replacement shakes for two meals then a very small evening meal, rarely hitting 1000 calories. I commented that it's very hard to get adequate nutrition on those sort of calories and the weight will drop off quickly but you'll feel deprived, hungry and miserable. She didn't reply…
  • This is what stopped me going to a slimming club. It was very sociable, being weighed and then taliking about whether it was a loss or not with the rest of the group made me feel very accountable and I really wanted to stick to my diet - but more than half of the people had been at target at least once and had then…
  • Mine's open, can be a bit scarey from time to time though!
  • 36? I wish I could be 36 again!! Try 58 with an under-active thyroid! Seriously, you need to give this time, it works! I've been here since June and have logged consistently, weighed myself once a week and have lost around a pound a week, every week apart from the two weeks around Christmas :-) It's more important to weigh…
  • My doctor prescribed them for me about 3 years ago. Leakage is not a problem if you don't eat high fat food, really, DON'T eat high fat food, you can't digest or absorb any fat and it goes straight through your gut and out in your poop. If you have a double cheeseburger and fries you'll be in trouble. So you have to avoid…
  • I'm not sure you can get it outside the UK. We keep it to ourselves :glasses: Edited after checking Wikipedia: Tiger bread (also sold as Dutch crunch in the USA, tijgerbrood or tijgerbol in Netherlands) is the commercial name for a loaf of bread which has a unique mottled crust.
  • I travelled from Barcelona to London next to a lady who was so overweight that her belly fat was laying on my thigh. I probably had about half of what was a pretty small seat to begin with. However, she was an excellent, entertaining travelling companion who shared her sweets, but just a little too intimate for me! My…
  • I know! They look so much lower calorie than a nice round bread roll
  • You can't log it as exercise but it's about 500g of your body weight taken away, containing lots of protein and iron etc. You should definitely make sure you rehydrate after blood donation to make up for the volume lost but there must be some kind of calorie deficit involved, at least in the short term.
  • I've never heard this and I donated blood for over 20 years, often on a diet. Also nothing on the NBTS web site. They won't take blood if you're anaemic but we MFP dieters are careful with our health - and that annoying "starvation mode" warning pops up if you don't eat enough!
  • Yes, I listen to audiobooks when I'm on the treadmill, cycle and elliptical (but not rowing, can't seem to concentrate when I'm rowing. )I also download TV programmes to watch on my ipad. It makes a change from tunes :-)
  • You're very welcome :flowerforyou:
  • I put on 1kg (2+lbs) over the two weeks from 21st December to yesterday. I logged all my food, went over most days and didn't exercise as much as usual so I think I got off quite lightly! I had a fabulous holiday though, back to work/reality tomorrow. It has put the date I reach my goal back by about 4 weeks though :-(

  • I run 5k about three times a week, row 2k, some cycling if I have time. I love cardio, lets me eat pretty much whatever I want and leaves me feeling chilled after a busy day.
  • Well, won't he feel silly when the Zombie Apocalypse hits??
