  • I'm not "new", but I kind of am! I started here a while back, and dropped off because I didn't seem to be losing a lot of weight. I have recently joined a gym and I'm hoping to see the scales go down! In the meantime, active friends are a great way to keep me motivated. Thanks!
  • Well, no, I didn't turn up my nose. And I still don't. I'm fully aware that my problem is lack of will power...LOL! It's difficult for us when we see a table full of high fat, delicious, calorie packed food. We fill our plates. And we eat it. I do try to have much smaller portions through the day when I know I'm eating a…
  • I'm going through some hormonal stuff too. Usually when I have those large weight gains, it's due to water retention (yes, that also comes with getting older and hormonal changes). What helps me to shed some of that is fresh pineapple. It's a natural diuretic, but it won't dehydrate you like the pills will. I also drink…
  • Stuffed sweet potatoes are fantastic. Stuff with beans, cheese, salsa and greek yogurt that has been blended with taco seasoning mix. If you use this as your main meal, and leafy greens on the side, you can eat the entire potato for around 250 calories. If you're using it as a side, just use a really small sweet potato, or…
  • I know what you're going through. My thyroid levels aren't low enough for the doctor to actually treat it. I have a swollen thyroid, and very low normal readings. It will even dip below normal on occasion, but the doctor still refuses to treat for it. I can't lose weight to save my life! People assume it's because I'm…
  • Currently, I'm at one of my heaviest weights. But I can give you an idea as to weights and bra sizes I had in the past. I want to add that my breasts seem to be the LAST place to lose weight. Currently 195 40DD 175 38DD 158 36DD 148 36D 127 34D 115 32C I'm 5'4 I was very excited to hit a C cup. With me, as you can see, the…
  • Hormones alone can cause a 2 lb weight difference. Is it the week before your period? If you're working out, muscles retain water during the repair phase...no amount of water drinking will change that. For a more accurate weight count, weigh yourself once a week, same time in the morning. Even drinking a lot of water, and…
  • You should definitely increase your caloric intake, but I would add mostly protein and raw fruits and vegetables. That way, you're giving your body the fuel it needs to repair damage and keep you going through the day. Protein is the only nutrient that builds cells....you NEED it if you're going to work out.
  • It's very common for the body to lose and stop losing in a cycle. As everyone has said...keep doing what you're doing. You have to remember that our bodies are geared to keep the fat on. It's a survival mechanism. However, working out and eating right will always result in a healthier body. =)
  • How so?

  • Watermelon and cantaloupe! I cut them up and put them in a bowl in the fridge...and within a day or two...it's gone. A WHOLE watermelon and a WHOLE cantaloupe! Sigh,....but man, it's good.
  • That is outstanding news! I love to hear people beating the diseases that are caused by diet...with diet instead of taking medications. It's a way to permanently change things in your body so that you don't have to worry about it ever again! Very very proud of you!
  • My favorite simple fish recipe is a salmon dish. I put the salmon in a pan, add a little white wine, and sprinkle with McCormick spicy steak seasoning. Turn it on med-low, slap a lid on it, and let it cook until the salmon is fork flaky (will flake when you stick a fork in it).
  • A quick Google will supply you with all sorts of freezable recipes. I'm not sure what your skill level is, but these looked pretty easy: http://www.fitnessmagazine.com/recipes/quick-recipes/dinner/make-ahead-freezer-friendly-recipes/ I don't know if you have one in your area, but I've looked into this, and it's a great…
  • I take a supplement called Juice Plus. Yes....I benefit from it. =)
  • I've lived in NC most of my life, but I lived in Lisle IL for a little while many years ago. With that said...I know a lot of people from other states that live here. The hardest thing for them to get used to (according to them) is the slower pace here. I would suggest you take a vacation here, and see if you're OK being…
  • No, I mean, when I log gardening, it subtracts from the Striiv calories. Striiv measures walking and steps.
  • I use Juice Plus Complete. It's a whole foods based protein powder. The chocolate is the best. I mix it with chocolate almond milk and various fruits, coconut, or peanut butter...etc. It's on the bottom of this page: https://www.juiceplus.com/nsa/content/OtherProducts.soa?site=ch96820
  • I use it! I'm actually doing a search on MFP at the moment to see if I can fix a little glitch I've noticed. When it logs my walking calories, the calories I enter for other exercise isn't added on top, but taken away from. In other words, if I burn 500 calories walking, and I add 100 calories for gardening, Fitness Pal…
  • Organic waffles topped with banana. Take a little syrup, add some peanut butter, heat in microwave and pour on top. It's around 300-350 calories, just watch your serving sizes on everything. Something about this combination seems to last a long time. Also, a two egg omelet with 1/4 cup shredded cheese, salsa, and light…
  • My stepfather is Italian. I grew up eating all sorts of pasta. I still eat it on occasion, but I have found there is a quinoa pasta out there that tastes JUST like pasta...although it's a little more firm. They do have around the same caloric count, so it won't help there, but it IS gluten free and quinoa is a healthier…
  • Question. I've noticed that people are able to change their meal selections. In other words, mine says Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Snack. But I have seen variations of that. How do I change mine around? I actually try to have 6 small meals a day. Or three moderate, and two snacks...depending on the day.
  • Thanks! I've already received five friend requests! So I have five new diaries to look at! =D I'm stoked!
