Omlette, fruit smoothies, blended soups, steamed pumpkin and sweet potato, parsnip and carrot mash, pate.

Chicken legs are fattier than breast. Even more so if it has the skin on, or is coated or marinated in some way to prepare it to be "oven fried".

Two things to try re the juice: 1) Gradually increase the amount of water in the ratio until it's mostly water. 2) Try her on vegetable juice: carrot juice, beetroot juice, tomato juice (home-made so it isn't full of salt). Or mixes of carrot juice and fruit juice.

My plan when I get to my goal is to keep tracking every day for the first few months, then just keep weighing myself every day after that. If my weight goes up even 100g, I'll track my food and exercise each day until it's down again.

Only in Canberra is it called college. :) I think if you can get by with one job while studying, better to do that and make sure you get as much as possible from the study - both in terms of what you learn and in terms of your grades. The payoff will be greater down the track.

Any big sudden change in your diet is likely to cause some initial disruption. Your gut bacteria have adapted to their usual fare, and need to adjust, which takes a few days. If I eat very clean for a couple of weeks and then eat a chocolate bar out of the blue, it sends me running to the loo.

I gave up showering every time I exercise. I've asked for feedback from my husband and from colleagues (and I have a very sensitive nose myself), so I know I don't get stinky. If your clothes are clean, your deodorant effective and your daily hygiene is good and you aren't cursed with bad genes, it doesn't hurt to let the…

Remind me at regular intervals to be kind and express my gratitude.

The "Run Lola, Run" soundtrack, or "Blood Makes Noise".

Any chance you could get a bike trailer for the kids or a jogging stroller/pram? Or if they are a bit older, take them down to the playground and run laps around the playground while they play?

Blurry photos always make it hard to tell. That's why soft focus was invented!

The question is whether the calories shown by your HRM are the total calories you've burnt or just the "extra" calories you've burnt during exercise. Try putting it on while you're sitting at your desk, when you've been sitting for a while, and see how many calories it indicates in an hour.

Have you thought of having lunch or dinner foods for breakfast, if you're sick of standard breakfast foods? Also: CADA: process together a small handful of dessicated coconut, one small apple, a handful of pitted dates and a handful of almonds.

It might be worth checking with a doctor in case it's some sort of growth. After losing a lot of weight but not being able to get rid of a hard bulge in her tummy, a friend of mine discovered she had a benign tumour the size of a grapefruit, which had to be removed.

I take vicarious pleasure from seeing my husband enjoying ice-cream and cake when I can't. I'm afraid I've been encouraging it, and while I have lost weight, he has gained. While I've been dieting, we've been eating the same for dinner (but I've been eating less for breakfast and lunch, avoiding dessert and exercising…

If you're someone who buys a new wardrobe every year anyway, get rid of them. If you usually hold onto your clothes until they wear out, I'd hold on to them. Realistically, most people do gain back the weight they lose. I have in the past. Though I'm determined not to put it on again this time and will make every effort…

I weight daily but don't pay attention to the daily figure, only the 7-day running average. Daily measurements give a more accurate running average.

As I mentioned above, my husband and I pool everything, but then allow ourselves each a small weekly pocket money amount (about 5% of our take home pay). We have a slight disagreement over how the pocket money should be handled: I think it should be equal, while he thinks it should be proportional to our individual…

We have a joint account for all our money, but also each have a weekly pocket money amount that doesn't need to be accounted for. This pays for music, books and movies, my mobile phone, electronic gadgets, clothes and accessories that we want but don't need, junk food and bought lunches, nights out with friends...…

If I have oatmeal with sugar or with a sugary fruit (peach, banana), I do get hungry again in short order. If I have oatmeal with just milk and cinnamon, or with nuts or even with a handful of berries, I don't. But I usually do have a mid-morning snack of a handful of nuts or a piece of fruit.

I'm having one can of pepsi max a day (which I think is much too much), plus lots of tea (chai tea, English breakfast tea, peppermint tea and others), lots of water and (no more than once a day) a Berocca. Berocca works well as something to finish off dinner - it feels like a sweet drink, and almost feels good for you, but…

With that background, I'd be very careful. Ask your doctor for advice before embarking on weight loss, and check in with them regularly, if you can. Ask your doctor whether a personal trainer, a nutritionist or some other form of personal support might be a good idea.

When most people around us are overweight, overweight is normal, and it's hard to have a good idea of what "healthy" looks like. Two resources that might be useful: http://www.cockeyed.com/photos/bodies/heightweight.html (Lots of photos of people at various heights and weights, arranged in a grid) and…

As long as you are eating enough each day to feel healthy (i.e. not starving, weak, headachey, faint or cranky), yes, you can save calories. It's the average over the course of a week that's important.

Try moistening your hands to get a better electrical contact.

More free time on weekends means more time for exercise - I actually find the diet easier on weekends because of that!

I'm with you. I wear make-up about once a year, and then only lippy and maybe eyeshadow and a very little foundation. But I don't know how to apply it well, and always feel like I've done it wrong when I do, so that adds social discomfort to the physical discomfort of having stuff on my face. I just don't know what I'm…

Cooking it does not change the total calories (unless you add something else, such as oil, in the process of cooking).

It's much the same as weight watchers, except that instead of having a certain number of points to work with, you have a certain number of calories. It doesn't restrict what you eat or when you eat it, just your overall intake (though it makes sense to keep half an eye on what you're eating as well). You get extra calories…

Another one to look for that will fit the bill is the CSIRO Total Wellbeing Diet Recipe Book.
