I have a Garmin FR60, and absolutely love it! I found that my treadmill and elliptical were extremely inaccurate regarding the amount of calories I was burning, as were the MFP estimations. I like setting the watch to notify me whenever I've burned 100 calories. What's really neat is, now, almost invariably, I can predict…

I'm so sorry that you have this trial to face. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us...I'm sure it wasn't easy. News like this puts a totally different perspective on life, doesn't it? Sending healing thoughts and prayers your way. May you and your family have the strength you need to go through the days ahead. Love…

Yes. If you're wearing your HRM, and it's showing your HR is elevated as high as a cardio workout, and you are sweating, I would call it a legit workout. I do the same thing. I'll wear my HRM if I'm doing some "super cleaning", and if it shows I'm in my "zone", I count it. If not, then, no.

I love chocolate. Especially dark chocolate. Those little Trader Joe's Dark Chocolate Nibs are fantastic, especially when you're craving chocolate, but don't want to eat a whole candy bar. I used to not eat sugar, and granted, I felt a lot better overall. Then, one day, I decided to try some chocolate again.....

I love my elliptical, especially now since I'm injured, and can't run! It can definitely kick your butt, especially if you do HIIT. It's a great cardio workout, and, depending on the settings, great strength and toning exercise. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine!

Feel free to add me, if you'd like! :)

Just an AMAZING transformation! You must feel so good about yourself! All of the dedication & hard work that enables you to now prepare for a marathon--you truly are inspiring. Thanks for sharing!

I also tend to eat the most at dinner time, and afterwards. I think it's the "after 50" hormones that do it to me, and most of my friends. I feel a little panicky if I'm under 1200 calories at 3pm. I don't believe there's any correlation with weight gain and eating after dinner, as long as you burn enough calories.

Over the years, I've learned to listen to my body. There's a difference between "I'm just too lazy to do a workout today", or "I really need to get some rest". It sounds to me like you probably need a rest day, but only you can determine that. (2 rest days in "a few weeks", though, definitely isn't giving your body enough…

My diary is wide open; feel free to add me; anyone else who would like to, go ahead. Always looking to give and get support! :)

You're tired! It's amazing you've been doing as well as you have been, considering you're only getting 4 hrs (?!!) sleep a night? You're burned out, and when that happens, you just need some total "down" time. Hopefully, you'll have a couple of days off in a row where you can recuperate & get some much needed sleep! Enjoy…

Normal, everyday housework, or just sweeping a bit outside, no. If I'm running around the house like a madwoman getting everything clean, mopping & buffing floors, washing walls, vacuuming everywhere & getting my HR up and sweating, then yes, definitely. If I'm leisurely planting flowers out in the yard, no, but if I'm…

Gladly did it for you. Good luck on your Dissertation!

You are doing great! Keep doing what you're doing! Listen to your body; stop when the pain is too much. Every little step is strengthening your body, & burning more calories than sitting on the couch! It may take a while, but just keep at it. Before you know it, you'll be able to walk for much longer than you'd ever dream…

Sure! Feel free to add me...I'm always open to new friends who like to motivate & encourage.

When I feel like that I tell myself that I only have to do 5 minutes of exercise, and if I still don't feel like doing it, I can quit. I've never yet quit. Once the blood gets flowing, especially with a run, I never want to stop. You can do this!!! It's just your mind telling you that you can't...just get your body moving,…

Great work, Jessica! You look so much more confident & happy now! What awesome goals to have: to be healthier for your daughter, and for yourself. Keep moving toward your goal -- you're doing a great job!

Congratulations! That must have been a great feeling! Awesome accomplishment.

Yes, I second the above opinion; get your heart checked out. I'm a retired RN. Jaw pain can definitely be cardiac related. Don't delay...especially since it only happens when you work out. It's better to be safe than sorry.

I just did a lot of research on them; Polar & Garmin's reviews are the best currently. I was undecided between the 2, but ultimately decided on a Garmin FR60, because I could get a bundle set, which included the chest strap & foot pod, & it was a good deal. I really wanted something that tracked distance, calories, and…

I'm a newbie to running, too. I just started 3 months ago. I'm training with the Jeff Galloway method (you can Google it). He uses the run-walk-run interval training method. I love it. I'm training for a 1/2 marathon right now, and every week I notice a huge difference in my endurance, strength, time, distance, and the way…

I'm 55; feel free to add me. We should start an "Over 50 group"....just a thought. I'm not sure how to go about doing it, though!

I'm a retired, 55 yr old nurse. Any of you nurses out there, feel free to add me! We do have a special kinship. What better people to support each other on our journey towards better health!

I drink a lot of herbal teas. I have bulk quantities in my kitchen, so I'm always mixing them up so I don't get bored. They're very refreshing, and you don't need sweeteners...so drink up!

Congratulations! You're showing real dedication. I hope you continue to progress toward your goals! This is a wonderful site, with many great people.

I'm all for alternative lifestyles and diets, as long as they're healthy, but when a friend showed me this book, and I started reading up on it, I thought it was ludicrous. It's like designing a diet for people who have wet ear wax versus dry ear wax, or people who have no moles, less than 10 moles, and greater than 10; or…

I run on a treadmill because I am legally blind, and can't go running outside by myself. I have no other option. I would much rather go outside in the fresh air, but it is a safety factor for me.

This is a great idea! I often read motivational quotes just to get me going in the morning, if I'm having a "slow start". One that comes to mind right away: "I may not be there yet, but I'm closer than I was yesterday!"
