  • First, as you said your friend is bigger; so you can't really compare yourself. I would ask her to do a contest with you. I did this with my wife. We would make a bet at the begining of each week. The winner got to pick the movie if that was the weekly prize, but could be anything. Then we would have the weight loss…
  • Clicking sounds that presumably are coming from my wifes computer keyboard. I would guess she is listening to clicking that is coming from mine...LOL
  • For me it was just a matter of eating a balanced meal plan that had about 50% carbs, 30% protein, and 20% fat. Other than that a **** load of work. I hit the gym roughly 12-14 hours a week. Not all at once, but in 2 workouts a day most days. I did not starve myself on most days I ate between 2500-3000 calories. What I will…
  • More power to him; I am speaking from my own personal experience. i cannot perform at the same level on a low carb diet. It is that simple. Perhaps there are people out there, I am not one of them.
  • From a guys perspective.... I don't treat myself to anything specifically (I mean like food or movie, or buying something). When I hit a goal like 15lbs lost I will do my next workout with a 15lb weighted vest. might see like it is not really a treat but just knowing exactly where you came from actually is. It is also a…
  • Actually, I will throw one more thought on this thread and then I am done. For me it was a trade off between feeling really good and getting physically fit. I loved how I fealt on Atkins. I have crohns disease and if anyone knows what that is; it can be somewhat of a pain when you eat normally. This might be TMI, but I…
  • I cut 55 lbs, but in the end decided it was the wrong way to go. I gained back almost 25lbs of it when trying to to come off to a more normal carb level. The difficulty with this type of diet is: If you have any aspirations of being athletic it is not a good idea. Your bodies prefered fuel sorce for high intensity athletic…
  • I don't like running sweat, it makes my nipples chaffe post 5 miles... Mowing lawn does not take long enough for that....
  • BUMP!!! That was the worst...
  • I generally take off my glasses at the gym so can't see anyone further than 15 feet away. I hope people think I am starring, but through is I am just starring off into space....LOL
  • Not sure how I would log it; I have only gained since starting on here...
  • 1600-2000. I generally start my day with a target of 1920, then I do two a day workouts which generally adds 1250 or so earned. But I try to stay around 2500 for my target regardless of burn. So I actually eat 1000 from 4 to 8 PM. Then I am done until the next morning.
  • I pack my day minus dinner and late snack. 2 packets of oatmeal various flavors 1 apple 2 banana 1 protein bar 85G of salad, either romaine or mixed or spinach steamed chicken breast for salad 1 boiled egg for salad Salad dressing (usually dorthy lynch or french) 1.5 servings That is what I generally eat from 6 am to 3 PM.…
  • Doing something. Whenever I keep busy I don't think about food until I am really hungry. If I sit around to much I think about it, and I have it.
  • Depends on the workout. Sometimes I try to run 2-3 miles before going to work in the morning. Everyday (M-F)at lunch you can find me and 5-12 of my closest friends working out. 3 times a week I do Muay Thai, and if the weather is nice I try to get out in the kayaks with family.
  • Actually, I think the point of the question is that for normal operation you burn 75 calories per hour. When you exercise for that hour you are burning 400. But when you do your BMR calculation you know you need x amount lets just say 1800 cause that is 75 x 24. Since that 75 is already part of the calculation when you do…
  • I just don't understand the obsession with not eating carbs or eating them after a certain time. See this article: http://www.foxnews.com/health/2013/07/21/4-reasons-to-have-your-late-night-snack/ Now this does not mean eat a bag of doritos before going to bed, but a moderate snack before bad is not a bad thing.
  • Just another fix quick scheme. Highly recommend trying actual exercise and reasonable eating habits. There is no miracle cure; I know there are many people out there looking for that quick fix; but the sooner they decide to put in the work and learn a new way of meal planning the sooner they can get where ever it is they…

  • A couple of things. As already said by someone else; have no idea what you are eating. Have no idea what kind of workouts you are doing so it is hard to give any advice here. But you may want to look at the things you are eating. If many of your calories are coming from simple carbs change those out with complex carbs. If…
  • I do, but my reason is directly related to boredom. I should be out on the treadmill though.....
  • Riding a bike, stationary or otherwise, just don't like how it feels on the junk...
  • Snow Crab, corn on the cob, any other seafood you want. Bring water to boil add salt, peppercorns (9), old bay seasoning, bay leaves. Throw corn in first, let it go for 15 minutes, then add seafood go for another 8. Unless you use king crab then might take a little longer. I did this last night. Corn on the cob, 90…
  • It' a never ending battle. I started at 240 went down to something reasonable 185, and now I bounce between there and 204. What's funny is I have not abandoned the workouts, but the meal planning is 80% of the battle and that is the lifestryle change that is really required. You can add me if you like. Jim
  • Great job!! So what has been your secret? Obviously you have changed your eating habits, but what type of exercise routine have you added?
  • I think another point to make is that everyone should know their heart rate zones. Specifically when you reach VO2 MAX. There is no measurement for that on this site, but if you can reach that state for only a minute or two during a workout that is vigorous. Otherwise I just consider vigorous to be heart rate in the…
  • There was this on time in band camp.... No really, I did a butterfinger diet once. Ate like 6 of them a day. And played 2 rounds of golf a day. I lost like 20 lbs, but I discovered after a while I only fealt good when eating the butter finger and for the 20 minutes after. I also tried the Adkins diet, lost a ton of weight…
  • Congrats, 50 lbs is a huge milestone. You should try spending a day wearing a 15lb weighted vest. Even that small amount of weight will remind you of were you came from. Everytime I do that; I swear I don't know how I existed 50lbs heavier....
  • I would just do it. I train several women in a group setting. When they come to me most of them can't do pushups. By the time we get through the first month they are able to do 100. Don't let the fact that you can't do all of it today affect your decision; you can't get there if you don't just hit the play button the DVD…
