No lie! I've been taking fluoxetine (Prozac) as prescribed for depression since the early 1990s. It is not an easy drug to get off of safely once you've started taking it. I would avoid a caffeine/Prozac combo like the plague! Don't take any more of this stuff! If you've taken it for awhile, e.g. a week or more, contact…

I'm a foodie, too. I love to cook, I love to eat, I love to read about food. Food is my hobby! So how do I deal with that while practicing CICO? I have just added calorie counting into my planning and this allows me to use things like heavy cream without guilt. Address it like a puzzle using the food diary. Here's last…

If anyone wants an example of the impact of sodium and water weight, here it is! In 12 days of traveling and eating out, I put on over 10 pounds. In the 11 days I’ve been home, I dropped it back off! Back to the inexorable trudge toward being simply overweight rather than obese! And finally on to a normal BMI!…

Maybe you need to "plan in" those sugary desserts, chips, and snacks -- just a little less of them. I figure now that I only rarely eat potato chips and I only eat them 1 ounce at a time, I can buy fancy potato chips and enjoy them thoroughly. It takes awhile to learn not to blow right through portion sizes on desserts and…

Two pounds a day will not continue. It's fun while it lasts but it's likely to be shedding of water. I did that last week after a trip full of salty restaurant meals. I put on 12 pounds and in 12 days and dropped them in the same amount of time. It often happens the first week of a new eating pattern. Now, don't get me…

I used to do this until I fell in love with Trader Joe's full fat Greek yogurt. The trick is to make sure you get a plain yogurt (only milk and cultures). A lot of yogurts have been artificially made creamy with thickeners, emulsifiers and stabilizers. These yogurts won't drain. It's often the cheap, store brands that are…

I just go the "prima vera" route most of the time so I can happily eat just one 56-gram-dry serving of noodles and be satisfied with it. As others have said, using veggies to stretch things helps.

Your basic twenty-buck Osterizer from Walmart makes a fine smoothie. I use frozen fruit. To make it sweeter, especially if has yogurt in it, I add half a frozen banana. Fresh fruit freeze easily. Just pare them as you would to eat them (peel bananas, pit cherries, core and section apples, etc. They can go in the blender…

Here's another "word swap" that works for me. I've always been heavy, very heavy and I did that by eating too much, sometimes much too much. My current eating amount is my new normal. It takes some juggling to eat within my calorie restrictions. That's where logging comes in. Instead of eating a snack of unlimited bread…

At 66 y.o., I'm not only naturally a couch potato but I have pretty severe scoliosis that now hurts so I am really the definition of "sedentary." I've lost 32 pounds since June simply through eating at a 500 calorie/day deficit most days. (I try not to go over more than once a week but a girl's gotta eat with reckless…

Sugar the way MFP figures it is simply the label information so it makes no difference whether it's the natural sugars in dairy, for example, or the added sugar of a twinkie. The "limit" MFP recommends is the one for added sugars. (There is no recommendation for natural sugars.) That means the total as calculated is a…

There are quite a few folks who have lost two or three hundred pounds here on MFP and many of us with over a hundred to lose. You've found your peeps! It's a long, slow slog but we can do it!

I've gone through lots of psychological counseling over the years to overcome all sorts of issues. Please consider it. It doesn't have to be expensive. You may find there are free or inexpensive options in your town that will help.

Could be a bit of salt, could be different exercises, could be all sorts of things that cause those up bounces. If you eat at a calorie deficit over the long haul you WILL lose weight. It's just that a graph of weight loss looks like a misshapen ball bouncing down uneven steps.

Try this old Weight Watcher's trick. It works. Ask for the dressing on the side. Dip your bare fork into the dressing before each bite. You'll end up tasting it but only eating a tiny bit of it.

ain't it tho' -- but I guess that's reality. Don't let it get you. We must all learn to be the tortoise not the hare. And it sucks. But, just to add one more metaphoric cliche, the game is worth the candle.

You'll find a pack of us on here. For the vast majority of us, the most important factor in controlling or even getting rid of type II diabetes is weight loss. So, welcome to the pack. I'm 32 pounds down since the beginning of the summer so it can definitely be done!!

How many calories you eat is what matters for weight gain or loss. Beyond that, learning how to maintain a healthy diet is a good for your short- and long-term health. So, just by asking the question you are on the right track. My favorite go to for nutrition information is Harvard's "Nutritionsource." It's a site that has…

Is a water cleanse "healthy?" No, actually quite the opposite. It throws your electrolytes out of whack. It's hard on your gut flora. Get sufficiently out of whack from water fasting and it can damage your heart and your kidneys. The worst possible "side effect" is sudden death. This happens because, even if you still have…

I drink flavored, unsweetened, carbonated water all the time and have since long before LaCroix became a "thing." I don't tend to drink LaCroix terribly often because it tends to be more expensive than other brands. You can basically buy this stuff based on flavor and price. I like some flavors but not others and that's…

You may be one of those folks like me that finds lo/no calorie sweeteners just make me want to chew the drapes. I got my hunger pangs much more under control when I quit all artificial sweeteners. Yes, for lots of folks they are helpful. For me, however, and perhaps for you, they are the devil's candy! LOL

Here. Grab my hand. I'll help pull you out! Ya just gotta DECIDE. YOU CAN DO THIS!!

Really, the world's your oyster when it comes to cooking at home. To lose weight, one only needs to eat less. In other words, know how many calories you can eat to maintain a slow and steady weight loss and then carefully weigh everything you eat and log it in your food diary. I like food. I like cooking it. I like eating…

Time of day, size and number of meals makes no difference to weight loss. Divvy up your food consumption any way you want. I have "breakfast" around noon and "supper" around 7 pm and the rest is snacking. Works for me.
