Mascara Mascara ad's are a big pet peeve of mine. Using fake eyelashes, or even worse, photoshopped, not one of them show us what real eyelashes look like with their product. In this one they left some of the viens and pink color in the whites, but still really edited the eyes. Her nose looks plastic, and she hasn't got a…

This photo is AMAZING in the funniest way. Love it. They applied a technique called "High Dynamic Range Layer Masking" or HDR photography. It's a beautiful technique, if you care to google it. The photographer takes three images, one at a low exposure, one at ideal lighting, and one slightly high exposure, then layer them,…

Photoshop in food There are a lot of weird tricks like the glue in cereal! I'd really have to research it to know all the tricks. But a favorite personal game is to spot food twins. I can always find one, generally they are spread out over a menu, but things like biscuits, fruits, sunny side eggs, glasses of soda, and…

Photoshop in men Men are also photoshopped. But they tend to have different types of edits done, and I have to admit I haven't trained my eye to spot as many. But they do do all the regular "tricks" on them, eye and teeth whitening, brightening colors, and stretching and bulging muscles (instead of boobs). Here is Terry…

Dove's Real Beauty Campaign (open this image in another tab if your screen doesn't show all the women) Yes, they do photoshop. Its a great example of leaving "structured flaws" they don't remove as many freckles, and they don't seem to cut much fat (rather hide bulges behind other women). But they do shop cellulite, and…

Wow when I left yesterday no one seemed interested, i'm surprised by the response over night. I read all the comments and I'd like to reply to everyone, but couldn't possibly. But I'll try to address some of the questions. I thought I'd take a moment to point out many of the great links people posted, the internet is…

#7 the compilation photo. Look for heavily shopped images that look normal enough, but you don't know why it seems "off" You'll notice here, a mysterious floating head, also her wrist seems a little odd doesn't it? The second image is from the same photo shoot. They first turned her white shirt lavender, and the babies…

#6 Look for the "mysterious floating head" Your world is filled with them and you never noticed. They do this to bring out the face, but also make the neck look longer. By adding more hair (or intentionally shooting to have hair there) and heavy shadow they can also easily move the head to another body.

Here are a few more before and afters - you can find these googling "photoshop below and after" I'll get back to specific things to look for on the next post.

#5 If they are that thin, they have ribs. This particular shoot to printed image circulated a lot so forgive me if you've seen it. But the bottom line is, if they are that thin, they do have ribs and bones that will poke out. It's just a matter of fact. Where is this ones ribs (below)

#4 looking at the woman above please note the following: Real women's heads are NEVER bigger than their waist. A lot of you may have seen this one, yes she is from the side, but at the size that this waist was shopped, the measurment around the crown of her head would be wider than the waist. Not even anorexics can do this.
-
Sure thing! This is a real woman, amazingly fit, her torso does seem a little wide for her body doesn't it? That's just how some women look. This also leads to my... #3 Real woman have knees. Knees are a funny one to watch for, they tend to cut photos just above the knee, but when they do show them... they photoshop those…

#2 Amazing detail on eyes and lips, but no pores? This GA was good because they knew to leave some detail on the skin in, that is the small hairs in the shadow, but around the nose and cheek area she is missing all of her pores - the poor girl. Also, the girl does have amazing blue eyes, but those were not only "popped"…

#1 No one has perfectly shiny, plastic legs and skin. You can see where they removed part of her shoulder, her waist below her hair was brought in considerably, as well as the line along the right side is sheered off. Notice the fabric of her bikini bottom neither sticks up off her skin, nor digs in. Also, the tassels on…

I'm real thick but luckily didn't catch belly fat until i hit around 200 - all in my legs, butt and arms... This woman looks small, do thin women like this really get bellies like that or is this more like baby weight. It seems weird to see only weight in the stomach and no where else.

Granted I'm making a gross face while pulling my head back, this is... the worst... photo taken of me in history. It waslike 4 years ago and I've dropped 15-20 before I started here this spring.

I really enjoyed that documentary too. But I think the biggest problem we have with staying on diets is making them too complicated. I'm never going to write all that down, stick exclusively to it, and eat the same thing the rest of my life. I aplaude the juicers but dang... no way. I like MFP because the simple fact is,…

PB2 makes me as uneasy as artificial sweeteners, they've squeezed out all the oils and fats and then add sugar - I'd rather have the oil and good fats than unnecessary processed sugar. I think PB2 is one of those products in wich the low calories isn't an equal replacement for the natural product.
-
I avoid if at all possible any kind. But like morning coffee still gets 2 table spoons of regular processed sugar. When foods are created in labs it irks me out. And I dislike the flavor of artificial sweeteners so much that I'd rather skip it (like diet soda which isn't good for you anyway) But i have to admit I like the…

Female, US 30 5'6 SW: 232 CW: 220 GW: 160 I'm going to go back and read if I can find someone now! This is a neat idea!

Agreed, that's not how the world works. It may not matter what co-workers think (so long as they see you as professional and above reproach) but clients opinions certainly matter. I trade in breakfast for a cup of coffee and eat a light lunch because I like to save my calories for a big dinner. You might consider just…
My mom would make me sit there for everrrrrrr trying to force me to eat something I hated. Her chicken pot pie for example. It looked like a sea of snot littered with peas and carrots.
Lol how colorful! lol (gross!!) You know, I was sitting with my BF's daughter at lunch the other day and it makes me…

I was raised in a "clean your plate" house too - I get real anxious not finishing. Now I plan to EAT HALF AND SAVE HALF for lunch or dinner the next day. I live on a reservation and wild dogs are a problem, hungry emaciated ones, so the "doggie bag" rarely makes it home anyway... (And I feel great having helped a fellow…

I just get upset at spelling them as "bewbs" wth

I never saw a problem with bringing my own lunch. I never thought twice about it until this thread. I'm left wondering what on earth is wrong with bringing your own food that it would be looked down upon?

Beauty comes from confidence - and in my case some well laid foundation (I'm not talking architecture here people) When people say that, at least when I've heard it, it usually is preceded with a command to "smile", and usually from old men who say "im just being friendly" when I tell them to get away. Not that I'm not…

mmmmm now I can smell it... If it were me I'd be really dramatic, pace the floor talking to it, shoot it mean looks when it's smell wafts toward me. Then spray the room with the can from the bathroom, then double bag it, and give it to a homeless guy.

OOOOh you've made me feel so much better! I figured "so I gain a pound or two, I'll loose it back really fast!" I wanted to just quit when I got on the scale, I was so upset. Back to water! My boyfriend will be glad too, he gained about the same haha.
-
Call me weird but I like the regular no-fat ranch and I water it down... that way every leaf gets some flavor, I never did like how thick dressing is.
