If you can’t find the right food, enter it in yourself. If you use the barcode scanner, just make sure the entries match what’s on the label. Food content can change over time. (So check your own custom entries as well from time to time). It’s a little more time on the front end, but then you have an entry you know is…

I’m terpsichorre in Garmin. 😊

Being on your feet for an eight hour shift can burn a lot. Is the Fitbit new? It may need some time to calibrate if you haven’t been wearing it 24/7.

There are a lot of nuances to yoga poses that visual cues alone can’t achieve. In class, I “think” I’m doing it “right” and then the instructor adjusts me and a light bulb goes off. Even in a teacher-supervised environment, they are constantly reminding people of the safe way to get in and out of poses—like never kicking…

I like Jade. Grippy and thick.

I love Fabletics--been a member since they started. The VIP membership doesn't cost anything, you just have to "opt out" that month or you'll be charged a $49.95 credit which you then spend on merchandise. I have a reminder in my calendar at the start of the month and I either opt out or buy something. I forgotten once in…

I have a stressful job that often keeps me up at night. My strategies: * no lights (blackout drapes, no tv in the bedroom, no alarm clock—I use an old phone and it lays face down) * Cool temp * Comfy bed (for me, that’s high quality cotton sheets, memory foam mattress with gel top—I call it “cloud bed) * There are a few…

Talk to your doctor. It could be something like sleep apnea which does affect people who are overweight. It not only disrupts sleep, but it is dangerous as you actually stop breathing during sleep.

Wellbutrin is not a "diet pill." It is a drug designed to treat people with a medical condition--depression. Some patients do experience a side-effect of weight-loss while taking Wellbutrin. This can be helpful as many patients experience weight gain as a symptom of depression. Taking medicine for which you do not have the…

I echo not switching meds because of slow weight-loss if you feel it is helping you manage your bi-polar diagnosis. A couple things to be aware of ... the meds themselves don't contain calories and don't directly make you gain weight. However, they can affect behaviors which in turn can lead to weight gain. Your daily…

Be aware that a common side effect of beta alanine is the “tingles,” and you can get them when you’re not working out. They’re harmless, but can be scary if you don’t know what’s causing them. My “pre-workout” is a snack. 200-250 calories. I workout right after work. Lunch was 5-6 hours ago. And being hungry affects my…

I take several servings a day to up my protein. It’s not magic, it’s a supplement. If you’re getting enough protein through your regular diet, you likely won’t notice the difference. It dissolves with no taste and no texture which makes it easy to add a serving (40 grams). I do like protein shakes, and think they’re yummy;…

My calorie adjustment is waaaaay off. Had over 7000 steps so far (plus an hour and a half of weightlifting and a 10 minute elliptical warm up—6000 steps w/o elliptical), set at sedentary, and had a negative calorie adjustment of 47 calories. Umm, WTF?!?!!!

Steroids mess up my sleep schedule (they make me HYPER!!!!!!!!) and greatly increase my appetite, making it hard to maintain my calories. There's no way to know how much you're really eating without using a food scale. Getting one could be really eye-opening and get you closer to your weight-loss goal. Hope you're feeling…

Lower back pain can have lots of causes and therefore lots of treatment options. I would see a doctor to make sure the activity you are thinking of doesn’t make your condition worse. It’s difficult to speculate what will help when you don’t know what’s wrong.

My charging strategy for both my Garmin and my Fitbit—I charge it when I’m getting ready in the morning or when I’m getting ready for bed at night. Just 15 minutes or so once a day or once every other day keeps it going great! And I don’t miss any important data!

In addition to letting your body rest, please also consider your fellow exercisers if you workout outside the home. We don’t want to get sick, either. Cut yourself some slack, rest up, and feel better!

I’m not the biggest fan of keto, but is it possible you had a touch of the flu or food poisoning that had the bad timing to occur as you started your new way of eating?

I know what’s not often performance enhancing—eating a plant-based diet when you’re anemic. Supplements don’t make enough of a difference for me and they wreak havoc with my stomach when I tried to up them to make up the difference. Plant sources aren’t readily absorbed for me. I eat 16 oz. of red meat per week with a…

From the first article, which I don't think supports your argument as fully as you believe it does (Sure, the abstract . It also discusses "hyper-palatable foods" which it defines as foods high in added sugar and/or fat. The role of fat in making these foods hyper-palatable seems to usually be left off the table.…

Have to agree about going to class for the postures (Groupon makes most things affordable). In addition to injury, most of the poses are incredibly nuanced. You make think you look like to person on the screen, but there is likely some minute adjustment that makes all the difference. Have an instructor adjust you during…

Nope, definitely not overreacting! Always trust your instincts to help you avoid being the opening scene for a CSI or Criminal Minds episode. Sorry you ran across a jerk (or a couple of jerks). I live in Southern California. I love hiking and there are great places to go here, many of which are remote (Angeles National…
