  • OP, you might want to check our this thread--about weight loss not being linear. The discussion should really help you understand things and not be so stressed.
  • It seems you may also need more protein. You had the bar and then the eggs and then pizza and salad. Was there any protein after breakfast?
  • Ask your doctor for a blood test to determine if you're deficient and then the doc will recommend a supplement. Adding it will not impact weight loss--it's not a magic supplement. Some people who are deficient are more lethargic and fatigued and therefore less active, which can impact weight loss. However,…
  • (((((HUGS))))) So Sorry! Please don't blame yourself for not advocating or fighting harder--hindsight's always 20/20. And the easiest person to blame is always us, even when we don't deserve it. It sucks that we have to be not only our own best advocate, but our own medical expert as well--and on many different…
  • The fast of today is often followed by the binge of tomorrow.
  • It seems like you’re almost talking about two different things: taking a break and not tracking. There’s a thread in this section called “Refeeds and Diet Breaks.” You could really benefit from checking it out—tons of great info in there. You can take a break from being at a deficit, now that you’re at your goal weight.…
  • The flu is rampant here in SoCal and many people outside the High-risk group (children, elderly, those with compromised immune systems) have been hospitalized, according to the news outlets. 27 are dead state-wide from the flu, compared to 3 at the same time last year. :disappointed: Hope you’re back to to normal soon!…
  • As others have said, checking Free T3 and Free T4 in addition to TSH would provide a more complete picture to see if meds might need to be adjusted (like adding a T3 in addition to the 150 thyroxine you’re already in). Being hypo can lower your NEAT because some of the common symptoms can be legarthy and fatigue which…
  • Wear a disguise!
  • Warm hugs to all my freezing friends and a cool fan for Nony!
  • At least you're using electric and not oil for heat. My friends in CT and NH are going bankrupt.
  • @kimny72 I'm partial to crime dramas and things that are free. So when "Blue Bloods" came on Amazon Prime, I jumped on it. Still missing the most recent season, but I don't care about watching current stuff that much. The only currently airing shows I watch are "The Walking Dead," "The Goldbergs," "Modern Family," and…
  • I've found some substitutes like protein pudding, protein cookies, protein pancakes, Halo Top or Enlightened ice cream, etc. There are also good recipes online. Taylor Crosby (I follow him on Instagram) has some terrific low calorie sweet treat recipes and low cal snack ideas. A lot of it is a matter of taste, but I've…
  • I get my TV from iTunes and amazon Prime. When I had cable, I was a total couch potato. I love crime dramas and there’s always a CSI or a Law and Order on. So, I ditched it and now have my new “rule.”
  • :heartbreak: I’m so truly sorry. :disappointed:
  • It’s not the kind of calories that matter in the end, but the total amount. An energy surplus (too much food) cause weight gain. Anti-depressants can cause an increase in appetite. And simultaneously, the depression can cause you to be lethargic and less active than usual. Double whammy. But the drugs themselves on their…
  • I do laps around my apartment complex. It's 1000 steps around for me. I don't have a TV, so my "rule" is I'm only allowed to watch new stuff if I'm walking. (Just finished watching "Psych: The Movie." My neighbors think I'm quite amusing, especially when watching "The Walking Dead." On more than one occasion I've yelled…
  • @Nony_Mouse have you seen the "Walking to Mordor" app thread? I thought of you when I saw it because of all the Middle Earth references. There's a simple app where you log your miles from your fitness tracker and it tells you your progress on Frodo's journey to destroy the Ring. Apparently, the journey was almost 2000…
  • My vets always recommended white rice flavored with baby food for sick kitties. Vets called it a "bland diet." Kitties always loved it. Especially the beef flavored baby food.
  • I’m not sure if skin patch tests there are any better than here, but here they take weeks at a time and completely disrupt your life and are often inconclusive. It’s a real bummer to have sensitive skin and no real way to know what causes most issues. My derms, I’ve seen 4, have always focused on treating symptoms and some…
  • Here, it drives me nuts when they park in the “compact” car spaces. A king-cab pickup, a suburban and a minivan are NOT compact cars. And when they park in those smaller, shorter spaces they end up blocking the traffic lanes!
  • That’s what I’m doing. In a spreadsheet, about a month ago, I started combining MFP data (calories consumed, grams of macros, sodium, fiber), weight, TDEE, and Garmin data (steps, exercise—including type). In another month, I’m going to flip it into line graphs and see how Everything lines up.
  • Funny you should mention the fitness tracker wristbands and dermatitis. I had a Vivoactive (not hr) for a couple years before buying my Vivoactive HR last Feb. In April, I switch from a body lotion with sunscreen in it to all our sunscreen all day. Shortly after I started getting welts on my wrists along the edge of the…
  • Sorry if someone already asked—per usual I’m running behind. And OMG—is there a link for that? Sorry, my drool is interfering with my typing. :dizzy:
  • Me too, though it works best a certain way for me. I had to redo it a couple months ago when my food wasn’t going over to Garmin. Try going through MFP first to sync and going into Garmin connect. I think that was what worked best for me.!If that doesn’t work, completely disconnect and go through Garmin first.
  • I use JEFIT to track my weight lifting. And I use Cody app for the workouts I’ve purchased them—all from my favorite yoga teachers. I also use Happy Scale to track my weight.
  • Just downloaded the app and logged my mind leave for today! Found this thread and started on January 1!
  • 47–That seems like an old number to me, and I definitely don’t feel that way!
