And the behavior may not start out as unhealthy. Wine is supposed to be good for your heart. People get prescribed drugs for legitimate and debilitating pain. So then you ask, “when did the behavior change from healthy or as prescribed to a problem and why?”

Current thought and research has tended to examine how internet use may be classified (unrelated to online gambling). Particularly as it relates to gaming. It’s actually quite interesting considering some people make their living by gaming, and quite a lucrative one. The culture has shifted a lot in the last decade. Pots…

I just had to chime in here. I have a work colleague who loves hummus so very much. One day he went to eat his hummus. And it had been a bit of time since he’d been to the grocery store. He has nothing to dip in his hummus. Except a can of chick peas. 😂😂😂 We still make fun of him for that. It’s his favorite food. His…

It does when you’re treating it.

A dopamine reaction alone does not an addiction make. If sugar really was the source of the addiction, for example, people would hide in their basements, closets, or cars shoveling spoonfuls of it down. Because when you’re addicted, you swallow/snort anything close to the source of whatever’s got you in it’s power. I’ve…

For me, it’s not a diagnosable addiction. Rather, we focus on problem behaviors around food and eating patterns. Those are totally a thing. Many of us have them to one degree or another. And the full range of destructive addictive behaviors are not present in folxs struggling with food as they are with those who have…

I don’t recall people suggesting absolutely no adverse consequences of eating an unlimited quantity of protein. People responded to OP’s post based on the information she provided—that 88 grams per day is not too high.

I have bad timing, too. I’d sit down to dinner just as “The Walking Dead” came on. 😂

Sunscreen. Every day. Rain or shine. Broad spectrum (UVA/UVB) rays. UVB rays burn, UVA rays cause skin cancer and ore-mature aging. And are present on cloudy days.

What are you using it for?

Yes, and calcium, vitamin D, B vitamins. Ketones and perceptions of energy levels are not the most accurate measures of health. And as Lemon said, preserving muscle mass is really important to overall metabolic health. The first few weeks of any weight loss plan can have a euphoric placebo effect. And I hope it lasts. Keri…

I had an allergic reaction to the rubbery one when I put on sunscreen (so, every day I went outside 😂). I bought a metallic/magnetic one and love it! Really adjustable and it stays where I want it to (about an inch above my wrist bone).

When I think of unrealistic goals, I think of aesthetic ones, not performance ones. Some folks are never going to have a thigh gap, bikini bridge, or toblerone tunnel (or whatever new “thinspiration” is out there now) unless they reach an unhealthy weight because their bodies are not built that way. To set that as the…

Me, either. Not a WOE (way of eating) that would sustain me. But I have a couple friends who love it and for whom it has worked well. But if you think it could work for you, give it a shot. Then you’ll know. However you eat, you still need to be in a caloric deficit to lose weight.

That’s not correct. Calories you consume over what you need to maintain (based on calories in/calories out) regardless of the nutritional source are stored as fat.

I am deficient and take: * iron and “blood builder” supplement * B vitamins * Vitamin D Also * Multi-vitamin * Joint supplement (glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM) Vitamin C helps both iron and calcium absorb. However since they compete for resources to absorb, avoid taking them (calcium and iron) at the same time if possible.…

I subscribe to Daily Harvest. Pluses: * Price range * Flexible schedule * Quality * Variety * Flexible use * Stuff I would never buy and prepare on my own. Minus: all veggie. I add protein like chicken or beef. I have some fav dishes and they are continually adding new menu items. The app works great and is super…

I didn’t know much about it, so I googled. https://health.usnews.com/best-diet/optavia-diet/reviews MFP is ranked much higher.

The core compression in inversions is more like what they are describing than cat/cow. Especially if you pike up. There are lots of drills that mirror the compression to help prepare you for the inversions. Tucking the ribs in when invented prevents banana back (over-arching) and dumping into the shoulders.

I use Alo Moves. Started out as yoga, but now they’ve expanded the trainers so there are tons of fitness workouts. I like choosing the type of workout, plus the length and intensity.

Four people in Oregon who are at least two weeks past their second vaccination are positive for COVID. COVID will be endemic. We’ll likely need annual/semi-annual boosters. It’ll be like the flu vaccine, I think. Fewer people will get sick, and those who do will be less likely to be hospitalized or die. At our campus town…

And give them back. It was temporary and they’ve gone the summer COVID-free (except in Auckland for a few weeks in August and again now—three-day lockdown). Short-term sacrifice of the many that saved lives, and saved survivors from long term damage from the effects of the virus. Meanwhile, we’re (US) closing in on 500,000…

She definitely should go with him. I volunteer at the campus vaccination site (campus is confusing, and while the site runs well, getting to it is not intuitive as we’re not using the main entrance) and we are (granted, won’t be the same everywhere) vaccinating both people of an older couple comes in together. Appointments…

That was initially a thought of why the impact of the virus skewed males over 50 in Wuhan. Damage from being a long-term smoker. The studies I saw cited smoking being more prevalent in men than women in that region.

Being a fan of Trader Joe’s wraps and salads, I can say they only last a few days (expiration date is 3-4 days after purchase). I would suspect other fresh food solutions have similar freshness limitations. You’ll need to plan on a couple shopping trips a week. I usually meal prep on weekends with my instapot and some…

COVID Higher Ed Updates The South African variant has been found on several college campuses. https://www.insidehighered.com/news/2021/02/11/covid-19-variant-now-found-six-campuses* In addition to that, there are two other identified cases in the Bay Area in two different counties. One was associated with international…

Of note (?), all three I had were from 2020. Not too old. But no activity.

I had three as well. No DMs, no links in profiles. Reported them to Alex.

I’m so sorry you’re having all these struggles! The meds can really affect us in the sense that they can increase appetite and increase our apathy. So, you can be eating more (sometimes mindlessly with brain fog) and burning less. It takes time and patience to find the right combination. Most psychotropic drugs can cause…

Two of my staffers who are immune-compromised have had doctors (different ones) get them their appointments. Could your doctor help you get an appointment?
