Not sure if your post was flagged because of the reference or if people don’t understand DietBet. I did one years ago, and it helped really keep me accountable for those last few pounds. The 1% loss per week was a good pace for me. I’d recommend it more if you have a lot to lose. Those last few pounds can be tough under…

I try them on in store. Buy a pair and make sure they work and then order online, usually for less $$$.

Yep. My left side is my “good” side. I work my right side harder to help foster a greater range of motion and movement.

I use Meetup for hiking. Not so much now, though, ‘cause COVID. And things are really, really bad here in SoCal. All Trails is a good app for finding hiking trails. It’s not the buddy system you wanted, but maybe you could chat with family or friends on the phone while you hike. Two birds, one stone.

Agreed! 🏋🏻♀️

Those exercise burn estimates seem really high, though. Burning 10 calories a minute or more for an entire workout is really rare. And even more unlikely for weight training than cardio. Fitness trackers are a great help, but they are still just estimates. Another suggestion is to weigh more frequently. Hormones, food…

Also, the way to build muscle is to do resistance training. HIIT and long distance running are great for cardio fitness, but they’re not going to build muscle. You may see or perceive an increase in strength, but that doesn’t mean an increase in actual muscle tissue. There are many body weight exercises you can do with…

Knowing that things “didn’t count” during the holidays wouldn’t be good for me. Consistency is key for me. I do have a few days at maintenance (and a little over) these few weeks as opposed to my usual small deficit for a recomp. This year has been hard for so many of us. And I think for my area (Southern California),…

I do my nails (fancy manicure set), deep condition my hair, do a facial, have scented candles going. Lots of self-care stuff. Also, buying new workout clothes. 😃

Cardio is tricky for that reason; you’re out of breath, covered in sweat, and your heart is pounding and you think you’re burning a ton of calories because you’re working so hard and the machine says you are. And it’s usually wrong. The algorithms calculating burn generally overestimate the burn for most people. An hour at…

Yep. And the days when I go over, like last Thursday, I log it and go on. I strive for more protein I my diet and am getting my macros back in order from my Thursday food fest. 😋 More protein and high fiber help keep me feeling full. Throw in a little healthy fat and I’m good to go. Also supports my fitness goals. Working…

I don’t do homemade, so no comparison there. After the “disagrees,” I went back and looked at nutritional info. The stocks I used to buy were 1-2 grams of protein per 8 fluid ounces. The bone broth, has 8-9 grams of protein per 8 fluid ounces. Big difference to me. And if I sip that in a meeting, I don’t get noodles in my…

Does your uni have counseling services available? Here in the US, most colleges give a number of free sessions per year to full-time students. I specified “US,” because your use of “uni” made me think UK/AUS/NZ. 😊 Or, local mental health support, possibly? There are often good local resources, too. I’m sorry you’re…

Bone broth typically has more protein than chicken, beef, or Turkey stock. Like stock, it can be high in sodium, if that’s a concern for you. Drinking a cup was very convenient for me at work when my meetings were running together and I needed a little something. More satisfying for me than cuppa soup. I’d just heat it up…

If I’m on site, I typically make an Instapot chicken batch on the weekend, and one of Yukon gold potatoes. I use a food scale before and after with the chicken to measure the portions. I throw in a couple servings of frozen veggies in a Pyrex and reheat it. I get the concern about the vegan thing. Personally I like tofu.…

Seems like such a big jump (compared to the rest of transitioning from picture to picture) from 40-45.

Not disagreeing, just giving you hugs. Seems like you could use them.

Chiming in on the report. I went and pulled mine. I did body fat (bod pod), RMR, and then V02Max. Hungry and tired by the time I was done with all that. 😂 I used data from MFP and Garmin to help set the baseline for the user-provided data (had years at that point). So, the report you received looks like something I could…

She should have emphasized no trans fats, they can not only increase LDL (like saturated fats) they can also decrease HDL (bad double whammy).

Also, consider reframing how you think of yourself. Calling yourself a “cow,” doesn’t help you move forward from whatever this weekend was (likely just water weight). Would you call your best friend a cow for doing the same thing? If not, shouldn’t call yourself that, either.

I’d suggest adding foods to your diet so you’re consuming more protein, fiber, and healthy fat. To be honest, your daily foods (as listed) don’t have much nutritional balance. What’s a 7/8 dinner?

Using words like “damage” and “pretty much the only meal I’m eating a day” makes it sound like you’re really thinking about food in relation to your body in a very negative way. It kinda sounds like you’re not eating all day as a punishment for the calories you’ll consume that evening. Not eating all day can cause you to…

A couple additional medical things that can affect energy levels: low iron and low Vitamin D. Your doctor can check those levels with a blood test. How are you sleeping? Poor sleep can also affect energy levels. So can dehydration (caffeine can act as a diuretic). And sometimes we just sit for too long. Get up and go for a…

You and @nanastaci2020 should hike together virtually for your Birthdays. You on your hike and she on hers both on the phone or Zoom or something. 💗

Here’s what I’ve done when something seems glitchy between the two: 1. Unpair Garmin and MFP 2. Turn off and restart phone 3. Turn off and restart Garmin 4. Re-pair Garmin and MFP

Part of the issue is drought. The main problem is the water rights here in CA. Google it—you’ll get an eyeful. People have literally choked off the water supply to entire towns so they can grow almonds. 😞

Thank you for your service!

Me either. Lost almost 120 pounds and kept it off for 5-6 years. Calorie counting works for me. “Healthy eating” alone didn’t.

You’re already at a healthy weight. So, any weight loss is going to come very slowly and will likely be masked by water weight. What goal are you trying to achieve. Is it really a weight-based goal, or are you unhappy with how you look? A progressive weight-lifting program might really be what you’re looking for. Try…

You always have a right to want more. And you always have a right to decide you’re good with where you are. No one else gets to decide that for you. And someone who loves you will never try to. 💗
