Yes, I like Trader Joe's. I usually buy avocados, persian cucumbers, garlic olive oil, red win vinegar, almonds (like that handful pre-portioned), almond meal, coconut oil, and they have my absolute favorite greek yogurt. I like some of their snacks like the roasted seaweed snack and they have great cheese - one of their…

Woohooo! Congratulations! Great Job! I know how you feel now that you can see the finish line. LOL @ driver's license weight - isn't that the truth!

Yeah this ^^^ I am not using MFP as just a calorie counter. I track other nutrients and also like to have a complete picture of the meals. Also, I'm sure WW's point system is based on some elaborate algorithm that accounts for those missing fruit & veggie calories, but you should think of MFP as an abacus

I totally get you ataalic. I spent the majority of my weight loss journey with not so much as a goal weight. I had so many pounds to lose that 10 or 20 lbs here and there had absolutely no significance to me. My only goal was to make sure that if I was not losing then I was also not gaining, and that worked for me because…

HI hiaag89! I have seen some online calculators at sites like Self and Livestrong. I don't know how accurate they are, but at a minimum, they should give you some idea. Fortunately, the strength training machines I use calcualte it for me based on some combo of my weight, reps, rest between set, time take to get from…

I'll let know. That's what I'm trying to do lol! Seriously though, it makes sense that it should take longer because you lose lbs faster at a higher weight. That's why weight loss contests are based on % of weight loss instead of actual lbs. lost. That being said, I think some of it is mental. I know that I've been…

First of all, congrats on maintaining your 16 lb loss! I understand that it was originally 23, but let that go and be proud that you didn't fall into regaining all and then some. :) Since structure is important to you, take some time ASAP to set up a schedule. Of course you should revise and improve it as needed along the…

I just started 5 days ago and was a bit intimidated at first, but I just wanted to comment on how effective this challenge has been for me. The rest day fell on the day that I take a class that includes squats, and wow my performance had noticeably improved. Great challenge! Day 1 - 50 squats-DONE Day 2 - 55 squats-DONE…

Considering I never once said I was intentionally losing muscle, the fact it's the premise of this "discussion" is even better. I said I noticed I was losing muscle as well as fat, and I later addressed it through strength training. As far as that goes, I noticed when I started gaining weight and didn't address it until…

"Muscular" has the connotation that there is a high PERCENTAGE of muscle in the body which is why it is not uncommon to hear weight lifters described as muscular. A morbidly obese person has a lot of lbs of muscle in their body but that doesn't mean its a high percentage; by your definition, everyone biggest loser…
-
Well, isn't that just the pot? Aside from your thinking help was sought at all, the conditions you're trying to address don't exist.

Who said I was very muscular? Just because I had a lot of muscle doesn't mean I was muscular so I tell you what, the next time you have the # of lbs of muscle contained in a 300 lb body, come talk to me about keeping all of it. I'm less than 10 lbs from a normal BMI, have a body fat % in the ideal range, am more toned than…

Face first. I'm at the point now where I need a new driver's license pic, but I've been putting it off until I reach my goal or at least a day where I'm looking great and have patience to deal with the DMV. (My last pic looks bad on many levels lol, not just weight.) I've been getting the unsolicited yet well-intentioned…

I bought my first jar from Trader Joe's two days ago, and yes I did and intend to continue counting it. The reason I bought it was because of claims regarding the reduction of abdominal fat among other things that I heard in a holistic nutrition class (for lack of a better description) I took Saturday morning. I already…

"Onederland" means under 200 pounds. I cannot even tell we're having the same conversation (which btw is off topic) because you keep ringing the alarm for details taken out of context. So to summarize...my max desired weight is no higher than 149 (top end of normal BMI for my height). My body fat percentage goal is 22.9 to…

I have not, but I am posting so that I can keep up with this thread. (Side Note: Strength training does help somewhat.)

Yes they do and noticeably so depending on how much you lose. My adult foot size which I'd say I reached in high school was 8 to 8.5. After that, I spent so many years in a 9 that I started to consider it my shoe size. It didn't stop there though, oh no,...later I had to shove my hocks in a 10. Now I'm back to the 8 to 8.5…

I am sure you have your reasons for taking this route but have you clearly defined it? Looking at your diary, your goals are 30% fat (which is in the 20% - 35% range that is considered low), 40% carb, and 30% protein. I don't see getting enough fat as the source of your problem. Add some mufas: oils (olive, sesame,…

Hi Demelza! I understand how frustrating it feels to start over and over again especially while watching your goal get further and further away each time, but you can do this. Like you, I have a history of many years of dieting with only a couple of successes worth mentioning. I had so many lbs to lose, not to mention…

The concept that size does not matter was reintroduced to me the night of the Hershey's Kisses incident. Even if it is small, If I can find it, then generally I log it. However, there are limits to the level of effort I'm willing to put forth to log a bite. If the quantity options cause me to have to pull out a scale,…

I honestly don't know. I am thinking it's one of those things that affects some and not others. I think you're just going to have to give it a test run. Do one week on potassium, one week off, and the next week on while keep everything else the same. That should help you determine if you are retaining water at all. (I only…

I'm not sure exactly how high the red zone is but I was trying to keep mine <= 1500 mg a day and it turned out to be quite a chore. I made it sometimes, but it was often over (don't recall by how much) but I don't recall it ever being of 2400. I said all that as an intro to saying, no, it only mildly affected my scale…
