Have you talked to a doctor? Sometimes things like thyroid or other issues/medicines can be affecting your progress. I would seriously consider talking to a doctor. If you're really dieting and exercising, you should be losing weight. But if you're already at 1200 calories plus working out to burn 500, your body may be in…

didn't mean to be mean. Meant to be realistic. sometimes we beat ourselves up about our weight and what we eat and it stops us from making progress. Or we restrict too much, then binge too much. There has to be balance. that's all. But I think by strict, she means "planned out" which means learning about healthy eating and…

You are seeing this all wrong. It can't be so strict that you can't follow it for the rest of your life. It's about educating yourself. Fitness and health is a journey NOT a destination. You can NOT fail yoursefl. If you eat something "bad" all it means is that you could have eaten something better(healthier) for you.…

Umm, this is me right now. Basically, when you're sick, it's more important to get better than to work out. In fact working out stresses your body. So, I'd say that you shouldn't be working out until you're better. Most flu's last about a 7-10 days. Any longer see a doctor. You'll probably lose some weight while you're…

I too really enjoy soda. So what I'd say is figure out how many calories the soda is and work it into your daily count. Weight loss and health is a journey, not a destination. Everything you did before brought you to where you are now. Everything new you're doing will bring you and keep you going in a direction where you…

Become educated. Know how many calories are in those cookies. Make pre-portioned little bags of any junk food that you have into 100 calories. If one cookie is 80 calories, then put just one cookie in the bag. Enjoy ever little morsel of that cookie, but leave the whole bag of cookies in the cupboard. 100 calories is only…

Fitness and health is a journey not a destination. If you can't EVER have any of your favorite foods, then you're probably going to binge in a really negative way. If you allow yourself your favorite foods occasionally and within your calorie counts, then food becomes fuel and NOT a splurge. Believe me, I'm a single guy…

I've not read the book, but I enjoy zone bars. a little bit of fat, protein, and carb at each meal or snack. Basically a certain percentage of each is optimal for long term weight loss. I think if a doctor recommends something you should try it and see how it goes. Let us know if it works out or not.

Buy whatever is in season. Canned' fruit is not bad as long as it's NOT packed in sugar syrup. I personally love canned peaches(texture is different) and canned pears. Love canalope as well. What you're eating is just fine as long as you're getting in your fiber and recommended amounts of fruit and vegetabls. Once summer…

break it down into 100-200 calorie portions and enjoy it as part of what you eat each day. Then you're using it for fuel instead of for binging. If you really like cookies, figure out how many it takes to make 100-200 calories. Put that in a bag. When it's your snack time enjoy that and do NOT go back to the cupboard.…

What you have to understand is that being healthy and fit is a journey not a destination. So you can not "fall off the wagon" because life goes on. You have NOT failed. You have just eaten something that is not as healthy for you as something else may be. That's it. Don't sweat it. Consistently over time yields results. If…

Fitness and health are a journey, not a destination. As a parent, you are a huge example to your children. They will do whatever you do. They will eat just like you eat. So try to encourage them to eat healhier foods by eating healthier foods yourself. If you're sick, your only job is to get better. Don't worry about…

for me, I get the same way. Try eating smaller amounts of food more often. I eat 5-7 times a day. 200-500 calories(200 for snacks) 500 for meals. of course these aren't hard limits. and my calorie count may be higher. also try to inergrate protein each time you eat. cheese, milk, nuts, meat. all of these things when eaten…

I think that being focused on a specific weight is most of the problem for most people. You should focus on being healthier, more active, more fit etc. I've gained and last 50 lbs before. Because I used pre-pared food or just excersised and didn't watch my diet. I also excluded real food from my life. Now I do eat what I…

I lost almost 50 pounds by exercising and using mail order food. but since then I stopped and just tried to do it by eating smaller amount of foods and not stuffing myself. Thank God for Myfitnesspal. Now I know when I've over eaten and when I'm on track, and no more mail order food. And now when I exercise I can put that…

Well, start tracking your food. ;-) I'll tell you, be honest with yourself. If you over induldge one day, make sure to note it down in the tracked food. This way you are accountable. But know that there may be a day or so each month where you eat more than you should. As long as you're eating less and exercising more, the…
