Right? I feel like he's hit just about every buzzword there is.... Give me Paleo and I can just call it a day.
-
He's the only "doctor" in the documentary as far as I can remember. Additionally, I'm pretty sure all of the panelists are labeled as teachers... It's a lot of fear mongering and incorrect information.

That was kinda my thought. And I saw a few people on his page say, "why not just give her your card and offer some help?" To me, that would be incredibly insulting. It's like saying, "Hey! I know you're fat. How about I train you so you can lose weight?" Truthfully, if he really wanted to start a conversation, he could…

My problem with the documentary was that there seemed to be more of an emphasis on scare tactics than factual science. And Dr. Mercola is a known quack. Meh. There are way better documentaries out there.

FYI, an apology was made on the Shark Fitness Facebook Page. Here it is... thoughts?

Not necessarily. If I'm eating nachos it's because I've budgeted it into my allowance. And since nacho cheese is delicious, you can pry it from my cold, dead hands. People are making assumptions based on this woman's size and from one the asswipe from Shark Fitness posted on Facebook. No one would bat an eye if a thin…

OP, the part I bolded is great advice. I recommend getting the things Legendary recommended, find your TDEE (the amount of calories your body burns in a 24 hour period while sleeping, working, exercising, etc.) and also finding your macro levels. Track your calories and macro amounts (protein, fiber, fat, carbs., etc.) and…

Sometimes my body tells me I want pizza and beer.... ;)

Me five. In for wine calories.

WHAT?!??! What on earth do they advise then??!!?

It sounds like you've "literally tried" every fad diet when - unless you have a medical condition - the only thing you really need to remember is "CICO". Do you accurately weight/track and log your food? Do you eat back exercise calories? If you open your diary, it will help people get an understanding of what's going on…

Personally I take the water, freeze it into cubes and add some vodka. If you don't like it, don't drink it. As another poster said, any benefits have been grossly exaggerated.
-
Even if that is the case, what right is it of his to post her photo on the internet or write about her on his Facebook page?

I grew up with "clean your plate" parents, too! After moving out in college and as an adult, I had to learn that it was ok to stop eating when I was full and not when every scrap of food was gone from my plate. Even to this day as an adult when I go home I will sometimes get the "finish your ____" request from my parents.…

I wouldn't even be mad if it was cheese. I bet that's an oddly delightful combination.

The cigarette thing is a bit of a stretch here... Also, typically even though the sugary cereals, candy bars, etc. are marketed to kids, when I was 10, I wasn't going to the grocery store to purchase Toaster Strudel myself. It was my parents who made the grocery runs. And it was up to my parents as to whether or not they…

What is that on top? Is that cheese?

1 package of oreos + 1 package of cream cheese mushed together. Form into small balls and refrigerate until set. Dip in chocolate or just devour straight away. Oreo truffles.

You tell people to eat naturally but then advocate for dumping protein powder in a smoothie? wut?

Woo Woo PCOS. There are a couple of amazing support groups on MFP, OP. Look into joining those. Also, feel free to add me. I've been fortunate in that I don't have to eliminate anything from my diet and I've been able to see steady and relatively consistent weight loss. I'm just waiting for the day I give up taking bread…

Fantastic ideas. I love coleslaw. I buy Marie's Yogurt Coleslaw dressing and will add cabbage, carrots, cilantro, some peapods, and the dressing. I'll also toss grilled chicken breast in it to make it more of a meal and less of a side dish.

I ate Paleo for a few months a couple of years ago. It's really unnecessary and wasn't sustainable for me. It was also SUPER expensive and while I love the taste of grass fed beef, and ghee was my absolute favorite thing, I found myself craving the things I was restricting myself from. I didn't lose that much weight and…

Why is the bathroom at work so far away? Maybe I should invest in those roller shoes....
-
Yeah.... I'm good with my liver and kidneys. Thanks. Also, go ahead and let us know what toxins are supposed to be removed in a cleanse.
-
How about instead of providing excerpts from an outdated book, you just provide some current research?
-
I like to take my science from a time of mass Communist hysteria.
-
Why not? If I've hit my macros for the day and I have calories left over, why would it matter if I'm choosing an Oreo over something deemed "healthier"? I'm not getting extra credit for going over in another macronutrient category if what I really want is an Oreo.

BRB. Buying syringes and foil to mainline the Oreos I bought last week.
-
*slow clap* IMO, this is wonderful advice, OP.... if you're still following along ;)

No. No it isn't. You're not Paleo. That's fine. Just don't tout yourself as following "Paleo" lifestyle when it clearly isn't. You follow some Paleo principles but you're not eating in a Paleo manner.
