  • If you see a big gain immediately after a "free day" it's probably because your sodium was off the charts. Next time, keep it under 2500 mg and you'll be fine.
  • Deleted the image because I forgot about the profanity. But it's awesome! Link: http://i.imgur.com/182QGiC.jpg
  • Not necessarily. I'm far more fit and about 400X stronger than I was as a 110 pound 17 year old. If I weren't interested in weight loss, honestly I would eat at maintenance right now and just keep working out. I think it's great that OP is so comfortable in her own skin, frankly I'm a bit envious. I don't know why it…
  • I haven't been able to find a weight that I can run at without developing shin splints, yet. Sigh. Maybe next time I'm down in the 120s. If you've already done the gait analysis thing and got good running shoes, try using something like an elliptical trainer instead of running on a flat surface. The elliptical is the only…
  • Had a delicious pint of hoppy IPA today, at lunch. Fits into my macros, feeling no guilt. What is it about beer and sunshine? Someday I expect to read that beer helps the body absorb Vitamin D. :-)
  • Yeah, you don't do deadlifts in the cage. Take a bar from over in the bench press area. You'll be happier in the cage for squats though, I wish my gym had one.
  • Mine are definitely standing to attention more than they were five weeks ago.
  • I don't believe MFP's numbers because they don't take into account intensity at all, and they are just so darned high all the time. I'm in the market for an HRM, but at the moment I'm using the calorie totals from the machines (when I use machines) because they vary according to the intensity of my workout and seem a lot…
  • Still in! 31 today. Just did the first set of 10, but I have to wait until the kitten isn't looking to do the rest. (Otherwise he crawls underneath me and attacks my face! Maybe if I were really hard core I'd keep going anyway.)
  • I am 5 feet tall, shooting for 130 pounds and then if and when I get there I'll re-evaluate. I know what you mean about the "healthy" weight range thing. The only time I've ever weighed under 100 pounds I was extremely unhealthy. My arm muscles actually wasted, it was gross. Since my kids, it's been difficult for me to go…
  • I've totally had to give up salty snacks for now. :( Too triggering. I can portion them out, or buy 100 calorie packs. The problem isn't self control, (at least now that I'm exercising some) it's that I won't be able to think about anything else for the rest of the day. Salty, salty kryptonite. Edited to add: but yes, the…
  • Taco truck tacos aren't terrible, if you don't eat too many of them. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/nutrition-facts-calories/taco-truck (these are the kind that come in a single soft corn tortilla) Around here we also have Taco Time NW, which has a number of options under 400 calories. Definitely no relation to the authentic…
  • Looking though your diary again, if you wanted to make one simple change to try to improve things, stop eating chips every day (even in the small portions you are) and replace that serving of chips with fruit or a vegetable. A lot less sodium, more fiber, and fewer carbs.
  • In agreement with what others have said about the "cheat day" concept. A cheat day for me would be going out to dinner and not sweating the calorie total. Starting the day with a 30 ounce regular Coke has your body just swimming in sugar, and then adding a Mountain Dew on top of that at lunch before your body has even…
  • It seems like everyone is doing completely different numbers. Anybody can do whatever they want, of course, more power to you! But I think the OP meant for it to go like this: May 1: 10 May 2: 13 May 3: 16 May 4: 19 May 5: 22 (today) ...and so on, adding 3 every day.
  • I put on a good amount of muscle 10 years ago when I was lifting heavy for a long period of time. I've been back in the gym for 4 weeks now, after an 8 year hiatus (and about 60 pounds of extra weight.) I can't describe how good it feels to be back, it's like my muscles are smiling at me. I started with the 45 pound bar my…
  • Buffets usually have lots of good fruit options, if they are any good. Fruit, fresh veggies and protein. Usually there's some kind of baked fish, seafood or carving station. You can actually eat pretty healthy at a buffet if you make the right choices. Stay away from cheese, baked goods, and fried food.
  • Some time in the mid-90s my husband and I met Judy Mazel (the Beverly Hills Diet lady) when he was doing some work for her. She was.... an interesting character. Anyway, we went on the diet on a lark, because she gave us the book and it was such a strange diet plan. That was the craziest diet I've ever been on. One day eat…
  • If you feel like you're happy at your current weight you could also try building some muscle in your lower body, to make your hips stand out from your waist more. Squats and deadlifts are great for the butt.
  • What everyone else has said. ALSO if you aren't doing it already, track every last bite of food you eat. It really matters, just thinking you are eating healthier isn't enough.
  • I'm in my fourth week back in the gym after an 8 year hiatus, but apparently the muscles are still there somewhere. Squat: 145 x 5 x 5 Deadlift: 115 x 5 x 5 (my form is still sucking on these, so lighter than squats until I get it right) Chest press: 65 x 5 x 5 (doing this on a machine because there's no rack for it at my…
  • I'm looking for low impact calf strengthening exercises. Other than calf raises. I mean, I'll do those but they do not seem to do anything. I'm trying to run on my stubby hobbit legs without the support of an elliptical machine and my calves really seem to be the weakest link. Ignoring the pain in my calve muscles seems to…
  • OK, so I didn't read the whole thread before replying. :P I have one cat who looks like she ate the other two, and two skinny cats. They get the same food at the same times of day. So I have no advice on the cat front. She is big boned. Big squishy bones that flap when she walks.
  • You cannot have arms just like these women, because even these women do not actually have arms like this. (At least, not from other angles.) Here is another photo of Ileana D'Cruz in which you can see that she does, in fact, posses arm muscles. (Fortunately) Please try to be the healthiest you can be in your own body. I…
  • 1) Purchase a copy of Photoshop, and take a course. 2) Use soft focus when taking photos of yourself. 2) Alter all of your pictures so that they do not show any definition anywhere. Problem solved.
  • I pay $26 a month for a fitness center that is run by our local parks department. I would not pay for a personal trainer. Most of the time, the exercises I see them doing with women appear to be extremely inefficient. (Not sure why I'd want to wave a ball around for an hour if I can get all of my core work done in 2…
  • Obviously snacks aren't the only problem. I have never been much of a snacker but have always struggled with my weight, mostly because when I don't keep track my portions creep up until they are about twice what a person my height should be eating. Like others have said, it's calories in/calories out that's the problem.…
  • At the original source you can also see what everything costs. What's funny is that the very stoic looking German family also spends more on food than any of the others, about $500 a week. The family from North Carolina pictured in the original post spends about $300 a week on food, which is crazy. Our family of four…
