Don't get me started on the petite thing. Gah. I see so many women around my height who clearly wear a 14 or a 16, yet "petite " stops at 12 or even 10 in most stores. It's not that I have a problem with just shopping in stores that carry my size, it's that they are limited to JC Penney and.... JC Penney. Not the most…

warriorprince: try Udi's brand gluten free bread if you can get it in your area. The white variety. Worst thing I ever tasted? Natto. It's a Japanese fermented soy bean thing. Sticky beans that taste like rotting garbage.

I drink 10 oz a day. (Two five ounce glasses) One bottle of wine is 25 oz so that's 2.5 days per bottle of wine. ...what? Anyway, yeah I hope it's fine. I track my Vitamin C (instead of that stupid sugar metric that puts you over for eating a piece of fruit) to be sure that I'm eating plenty of fruits and veggies and not…

True, but at 50 calories per tablespoon it's still really easy to walk out with 200 more calories than you had planned for on your sandwich. I used to request vinegar no oil (because they go nuts with that one too, and it looks like cheap soy based oil) but the extra sodium is a killer. I've had to pretty much give up on…

 deleted question.

Well, it's a compulsive thing. I'm a compulsive person, and if I'm in a particularly compulsive cycle (and having a new/stressful job will do that) I have to have *something.* The thing is, the something does not have to be food. Have to go into/near the kitchen? Make yourself some tea. Make yourself some more tea. Get…

I gave up soy (at least, major sources of it like soy milk) about a week before starting my current weight loss journey, and I think it has made a difference. Estrogen is not my friend. I also felt fairly miserable on a vegetarian diet (veggie for four years, 2 years at a time with 2 years in between) and was never…

5 pounds in that period of time is more likely to be fluid than anything else. It could be: - you've had a little bit of excess sodium. Restaurant meals are killer for this. - you are about to experience your period - your muscles are recovering and retaining fluid - you've put on a little bit of muscle (though five pounds…

Kids don't actually get snatched up more these days, we just hear about it more. (In relative terms, the world is actually safer than it has ever been.) HOWEVER, yeah I would have happily used one for my eldest when my youngest was a baby, but my husband was very vehemently opposed. We lived in a city, on a busy, hilly…

Fitness trainers are not nutrition experts. Cutting out most fruits and vegetables that you love would run counter to your goals, don't worry about this "advice" and keep eating good food at a reasonable calorie deficit. There are some fitness-y types who labor under the impression that eating clean means eating boiled…

I don't think McDonald's is nutritionally any worse than any other fast food joint. My kids won't eat there anymore, ever since they saw "Super Size Me" and that Jamie Oliver chicken nugget making demonstration. They are actually offended that I used to take them there from time to time. (Indoor play area for the cost of a…

America is a huge place with many different regional cuisines. I guess I do think of the Applebee's/Denny's/TGI Fridays sort of processed schlock as "American" restaurant food, but that is doing a disservice. Someone earlier mentioned New England brown bread, lobster, chowder, etc. In the NY area the deli food is…

Later on in that thread quoted above, OP admits she's just here to troll. So I think I'm done with this thread. Nothing to see here. Move along...........

Unless those photos in your profile aren't you, you are demonstrably not huge fat and ugly. But on some level you know that. Being "skinny" won't make you happy, because you are a beautiful girl right now and you are still miserable about how you look, and either you think your friends are dissing you behind your back or…

Why on earth would you be panicked about that? I think you suffer from body dysmorphic disorder. There is nothing about the way that you look in these pictures that would make anyone look at you critically, unless maybe you are trying to win America's Next Top Model. Stop looking at yourself so harshly and look around at…

I got a Polar FT7 for mother's day. I've been very happy with it, it links with the machines in my gym but I usually just go by the readout on my watch. I just enter my workout burns directly into MFP.
-
Since you don't really eat back all of your exercise calories it shouldn't matter too much that MFP's burn numbers are off. It's just good to be aware that it's an issue. Your sodium is pretty high some days (and at least for me, I know that mine are usually higher than what it says in my diary because I don't add sodium…

I looked at your diary. It looks like you just increased your calories from about 1100 to 1500 on Thursday? Give it a little more time before you declare failure! Are you really measuring/weighing everything? Are you counting all the cooking oil/dressing that you use? Are you using the exercise calorie numbers that MFP…

Congratulations! That must have felt really good.

$26/month for my gym, run by the local parks department. Not the greatest weight lifting equipment but the price is right!

I like to make up a batch of hard boiled eggs once a week and keep them in the fridge for a quick breakfast. If I'm not working out first thing, carbs for breakfast make me ravenously hungry for the rest of the day.

Sizes have changed radically in the last 25 years or so. When I was in high school and weighed 140 I was a size 14/16. 10 years ago I was 140 and a size 10. I have a pear shape and pretty big hips even at 110 lbs. (110 lbs was a size 6, 20 years ago. Couldn't go lower than a 6 without rearranging my bones, but I tried!) I…

I don't take offense at all, and I'm really glad it is working for you. However, if you have always kept your weight within a 10 pound range I don't think your experience can really be extrapolated to apply to someone who is attempting to lose any significant amount of weight. This is not a sprint, it's a marathon.
-
OP runs a pretty severe calorie deficit already. She's definitely got that part down. As her MFP friend I worry!

Eating less than 1100 calories a day almost every day will really wreck your metabolism. Give your body a little more fuel to work with and things should level out. Please take care of yourself! I don't know how you have the energy to get up off the couch let alone work out. Take good care of your body, like you…
-
Also, eat a bigger (or any) breakfast. At least 200 calories, including some protein. Whenever I don't eat breakfast or I just eat carbs for breakfast I feel hungry all day.
-
Fat is not the devil. I put real cream in my coffee and it does wonders for keeping my appetite in check. Also an ounce of really good cheese for a snack, every day that I have it in the house. (Which unfortunately I don't, this week.)
-
If this is someone you know, just look them straight in the eyes and say "Why would you say that to me?" And if they don't answer, keep at them, "Excuse me, I'm just trying to understand why you think that's acceptable. Don't ignore it, because if you ignore it they will keep at you until they get an emotional response.…

I am a compulsive weigher (ok kind of a compulsive everything-er) I used to feel guilty about it but I read a study that found that people who way themselves everyday lose weight more successfully than those who weigh themselves less often. So, yay, enabled! Anyway, yeah, it varies from day to day. I made a deal with…
