For me, honestly, 1200 calories isn't realistic. I LOVE TO EAT. I would not be a nice person at 1200. I'm doing pretty well at 1730. I started at 252, now at 222 and I realize that the less you weigh, the less calories you need. I follow the calorie guidelines MFP has set for me (I deleted the sugar and the sodium counts…

You really don't HAVE to avoid anything or drastically change your diet. Although, I do agree with limiting the soy, if you do consume soy products. I was diagnosed about 2 years ago as hypo and yes I take the levothyroxine. I also happen to be one of these "nutrition practioners" the above article link mentions. Just take…

Do WHAAAT?

AHHHHHMAZING!!!! You look great!

You look fanTAStic!! I agree about the time passing, a year does seem like forever, but I've been doing this for about 3 months now and it doesn't really seem like that long. A year will be here before I know it! Congrats, you have great committment!

Chris Davis from the Baltimore Orioles. Holy crap.

I think MFP meant for this to be added sugars, not naturally occuring ones. Anyhow, instead of being stressed about it, you can delete the sugar tracking. Go to My Home>Settings>Food Diary settings (or something like that) and change your nutrient tracking. I changed my sugar tracking to fiber instead.

You look fanTAStic!! Congratulations on all your hard work!
-
Yup. What they said. Totally deleted the sugar in my tracking thing and added fiber instead. The sugar tracking is for added sugars anyway, not the natural ones. Delete it if it's making you a little twitchy! Good Luck!

Haha just this morning someone commented on me losing weight and asked, "What are you eating?" I said, "Whatever I want, just not as much!" She looked at me like she couldn't believe I wasn't eating just cotton balls dipped in orange juice.

I don't know if I have PCOS or whatever but I guess I will be finding out soon. My cycles have NEVER been normal (even when I wasn't overweight) and I went on the pill when I was 18 to "regulate" them (even though that is not what is really does!). I didn't really care since I never had pain or anything, only symptom is no…

My resolve? I'm effing tire of being effing fat. Tired of my double chin, tired of my rolls, tired of my butt fat, high blood pressure, fatty liver spots. TIRED. This isn't me. I want to be ME!!!! It's not all going to be unicorns and rainbows, but you have to put some effort into it!! Keep going, it's going to take time!!!

You want to know what has really surprised me? I have noticed how uncomfortable I am when people say something to me about my weight loss. Not really scary but just uncomfortable. I'm really surprised that I feel this way. I usually say something like, "I don't want to talk about it because I'm doing really well and I…

How are your thyroid levels?

I too increased my calories because after some weight loss, MFP recalculates your calorie goal. I was eating the new lower goal and after two weeks or so stayed at the same weight (despite staying at or under goal). I increased the calorie goal by entering in a new activity level (came out to be just under 200 calories…

I used to think granola bars were healthy. You know, the soft kind that are dipped in chocolate? Yeah, those. Also, bagels or low fat muffins from Dunkin Donuts.
-
That's great!!!! So happy for you. Keep up the committment.

When you cook food (such as toasting bread) your are losing water not sugars.

With Synthroid, you might want to be cautious of grapefruit and soy. They can decrease the absportion of the med. Also, take your Synthroid on an empty stomach, about 30-60 minutes before you eat. I have mine with my tea first thing in the morning before breakfast. Take it separately from vitamin D (if you take it, or…

Yeah, I'll do it. Never done this before. I'll aim for 30 miles

Ohhhhhhhhh......pizza how I love you so!

You know what? I LOVE to look at the 'success stories' section of the message boards and look at the people who have lost a WHOLE bunch of weight. Then I think to myself, "Damn, real people did that with no surgeries or weird diets and I can too." It keeps me inspired. I don't set a time frame, I just set those small…

I'm glad a few of mentioned the shoe size thing, because I thought I was imagining stuff.

DIETS ARE TEMPORARY. You are going for a healthy lifestyle overhaul. I'm betting it didn't take you a month to gain the extra weight so it's going to take longer than a month (or two, or three, you get the idea) to lose it. By doing it gradually, you (we) are learning how to manage your health through diet and physical…

The human body is just not designed to do these kind of things. Really. Good luck with that.

I know you love him a lot right now but you two are not in the same place. He probably is a little freaked out and by doing/saying things NOT to hurt he is hurting you more. Girl I have been in the same place you are, BELIEVE ME, and I thought my world was coming to an end. It didn't, and I moved on. I had a guy that…

Oooooh yes, this! It sure does goes both ways. They are most likely just trying to compensate for the fact that they know they are too lazy to put any effort into better health. JEALOUS.
