People tell me that I am 'addicted to exercise' because I work out several days a week, every week and work really hard which is apparently abnormal and therefore I must have a problem,

I used to get horrendous leg cramps at night and my toes would dislocate and it was because I didn't use salt on my food. I introduced salt again and it cleared up and hasn't been a problem since.

Weigh your food with electronic/digital scales; this is crucial and will become 2nd nature really quickly. You are not eating very much for the calories you are consuming ( presuming it is correct which it may not be if you are not logging correctly) you can eat a lot of food even on a lower calorie diet by making…

I have never eaten a doner kebab -a rare thing where Im from. I have never watched Titanic

Big fan of butter , eat it everyday and I've lost 56 lbs and have no issues with cholesterol etc I just don't eat lots of it. I don't eat margarine which tastes awful and isn't really food in my opinion. Olive oil is good but its not supposed to be good if you heat it, I know a few people from Mediterranean/ Middle eastern…

The recipes on this website look good http://deliciouslyella.com/vegan-sweet-potato-brownies-gluten-free/ but the ingredients look quite expensive. I also use skinnytaste.com

I often have a couple of boiled eggs in my bag and some dates. I like a nice mix of protein and carbs before a workout to give me sustained energy. Nuts are good too as well bananas. I also like raw food bars for convenience. Of course a filter coffee with 2 sugars also helps.

Vegetable curry or prawn or chicken breast. Go for tomato based sauces rather than creamy ( ie a bhoona over a korma) steamed/boiled rice rather than fried or pilau. Tandoori meat ( no sauce , cooked in a tandoori oven after being marinated) is good with salad. Avoid the fried items like popodums or pakora. Whatever you…

I see it as a job that I have to do, its how I stay motivated. However over time it has also become a sociable thing as I have made friends there and now have my posse of gym buddies

For me its about a lifestyle change so eating in a way that is sustainable and healthy for the rest of my life, not just in the short term to lose weight. Try and eat more calories but good quality calories, healthy fats ( olive oil, avacado, oily fish) lean protein, low fat dairy, plenty of veg and fruit. Remember to log…

Yes eating eggs and dairy are part of a bigger picture in relation to animal welfare and farming methods etc I think if you are going to be a vegetarian on ethical grounds you may as well go vegan.

The friend i mentioned earlier put in a complaint as she felt that if she was a younger woman being told she was over weight it may have let her to go on a diet when she didn't need to and could have become a real problem ,its as though you are being told only skinny is good.

To be fair I don't think its the nurses fault, It the system in general. The nurse will have to do certain things as part of the check up, tick the boxes etc BMI is unreliable esp in people who are very active and its a big issue for peoplel with a lot of muscle.

They say 'you are what you eat' so if an animals eats vegetables then it is a vegetable ... Or as my Dad says 'if we weren't meant to eat animals God wouldn't have made them out of meat'
-
They don't do those kinds of tests, they weigh you and check your BMI as a routine thing if you go for a ( well Woman/sexual health) check up with the nurse.

Whether you eat a nice sauce with lots of butter at home or a nice sauce with lots of butter prepared in a restaurant it still the same kind of food, still fat and calories. It good that you enjoy cooking and take pride in it and taking care of your family but unhealthy eating is the same where ever you eat it. The…

I know a couple of people this has happened to, one of my fitness instructors who weighs 112 lb and has 23 inch waist was told she was overweight because her bmi was just over. They just go by the bmi and nothing else about the persons physique or lifestyle

I'm from the UK and traditional British food is actually delicious amazing- rich meat and veg dishes , amazing puddings ( sticky toffee pudding anyone?) perfect for our cold, rainy days but we have been so busy enthusiastically trying and adopting other cuisines (me included) that we have neglected and forgotten about a…

I've been on anti depressants for a very long time and I've lost 56 lbs in the past 18 months or so. I have found the medication invaluable as I can now function in a way I couldn't before, it also enabled me to have intensive long term therapy. I know other people who have also lost weight whilst on anti depressant…

You'll know if you are overtraining, I did it last year; I was very very tired, sore , achey, muscles, grumpy, I lost my strength and form almost over night and then I got really run down; colds, sore throat etc. Personally I have found that for weight loss diet is key, you might also just might need to give yourself a bit…

I'm the only woman I know who's is trying to put on muscle, I'm wanting to bulk up. I've been skinny and it really sucked. I'm also described regularly as being 'girly' . I had a strength program devised for me recently and even though I told the trainer I was really fit and wanted to get strong and build muscle he still…

There is a big difference. I have lost 52lbs so far and peoples attitudes are very different towards me. Before I used to get comments from strangers when I was out; suggesting weight watchers, making pig faces, telling me to put food back when I was at the supermarket etc.sometimes my friends could be very judgemental and…
