I am so glad I found this group! I was diagnosed with Graves Disease (hyperthyroid) six month ago. Still learning a lot about my condition. Started my weight loss month ago with MFP.

Interesting to read how does it works for some people to go cold turkey, and for some to continue having small treats. Personally, for me it is better not to have any sweets, otherwise I will crave for more the entire week. I would love to be like a friend of mine, who can have a small treat almost everyday. But if I have…

Interesting info! Thanks for sharing. I noticed I am over my sugar almost everyday, even if I had only one green apple as a sweet thing. It looks like MFP finds sugar in veggies, plain yogurt, cottage cheese, etc.

I only drink champagne when I'm happy, and when I'm sad. Sometimes I drink it when I'm alone. When I have company, I consider it obligatory. I trifle with it if I am not hungry and drink it when I am. Otherwise I never touch it - unless I'm thirsty.

May be it works for some people. For me not getting enough sleep usually results in the weight gain, so getting up at 4am to work out and then coming home to pack kids to school at 7 and going to work at 8 and work 8-10 hours -- I can't pull it. As I mentioned before, this might work for some people, like myself. I don't…

The answer to your why is that a lot of people don't have a luxury of been able to do their workouts, runs, swims every day due to the nature of work (travel) or family obligations (kids and their homework and after school activities). I see how it can work for people who can exercise only three times a week and have a…

Ejorneys, thank you for your post, I love it! I am finding hard time to stay on track because of my husband's diet. He eats tons of carbs and doesn't gain any weight. His food shopping is what usually kicks me off the horse. If I don't have sweets at home, I simply don't eat them, and it is easy for me not to buy them. But…

Depends, some days I find her motivating, some days she is really annoying. On those days, I just do it with the music from my Ipod. The workout still great, love that it is only 20 min and doable before going to work.

Does it has to be the same days every week, or you can change them -- let say, first week you are fasting on Sunday and Wednesday, and next week you doing it on Monday and Thursday?

I am 5'2" and currently around 125 lb. All my old jeans was size 0 or 2 (depend on brand) and obviously I don't feet in them anymore. Bought new pair two month ago, size 4 and decided it is time to change back. I always were 90 cm in hips, and now I am 95 cm.

Thanks a lot for looking! I wasn't going to any diet, just started logging in what I normally eat. I am learning a lot now about nutrition and health generally (have to admit I were pretty ignorant before). I did cut a lot of sugar last month compared to what I was eating before (I know it may not look like from my diary…

I just bumping this up with another question: how do you determine the proper Carb/Protein/Fat Ratio. If MFP suggest me to eat 1200 cal, how do I determine how much carbs out of 1200 cal should I consume? I just want to make sure that all my settings are correct. Thanks for help!

Never! It usually happens when I over ate day before, so my body kind of balances it. I don't have any problem to go low calories the next day, or even two.

I personally prefer to work out on empty stomach in the mornings. But on the days when I feel like I need some energy, I might have (depends how I feel) - apple - coffee (no sugar, no milk) - green tea with fresh ginger, mint and lemon (I found this gives me more energy than coffee) - half of banana if I am doing long run

I discovered that artificial sweeteners can trigger migraine like symptoms. I was using showers, more sleep, more water until I figured out about sweeteners. I never used them on my own, but didn't realized that Tropical Smoothie Cafe and some other places using them without telling you. For actual migraines, Botox shots…

I am not a sandwich person, just don't like that much bread. So, I am making my lunches most of the time. Big salad Whatever leftovers from dinner (chicken/steak/fish) Pasta/rice dish from the last night dinner Homemade soups If no salad that day -- veggie sticks (cucumbers, carrots, peppers) Homemade cottage cheese Yogurt…

Drink coffee, ditch milk, creamer and sugar. You will notice you can drink only a little bit of dark unsweetened coffee.

I am on the Level 3 now (3rd day) and it seems like it is easier with strength, but harder with cardio. I did skipped some days (days when I have advanced Pilates class or long runs). I personally didn't lose any weight (that's why I am registering here), but the body overall got really toned. It gives nice definition to…

Hi, I am 5'2" and looks like most of us fighting a relatively small weight, which seems to me is much harder to lose. I am new to this and start logging my food and exercise for the first time 2 weeks ago. I don't see any progress in my weight unless I limit myself in calories, which is what this site suggest not to do. I…

You have to change a definition of cereal. For me, cereal is cooked oats, buckwheat, millet, rice, spelt, etc. Whatever comes from the box, is not a cereal but a bunch of chemicals. Once grains cooked, you can choose whether you want to add some sweets (raising, prunes, honey, fresh fruits) and milk or eat it as is. It is…
