I agree; no, it's not perfect, but if you're on the road or in a hurry, it's a lesser of evils.

Welcome, Heather (I'm a newbie, too!). Yeah, definitely add friends with whom you identify, or you find inspiring. You'll find everyone here is really nice & supportive.

In my opinion, you DON'T give up. You open a dialogue with your BF, let him know you're feeling this way, and the two of you work on improving things together.

I'll admit, I probably weigh in at least once or twice a day, but I try to only LOG one weigh-in per week (i.e. Monday morning weigh-ins).

Sounds like there's a couple of things going on here: you're in a LTR, which in ANY LTR, it takes effort and intent to keep the sex spicy. Then you've had a baby; you've got hormonal changes going on, and your partner is reconciling seeing you not just as a woman, but a mommy. So just those factors alone can easily affect…

Wendy & Jas - great, thank you, I'll check those both out!

I agree, I think this would be the most accurate way tomaccount for your work activity. And generally, when in doubt, I'd say don't log it. Better to underestimate your burned calories than over estimate, in my opinion.

Welcome! Whether you want to lose a little or a lot, I'm sure you'll find this site a huge source of information and motivation.

Hmm, you make an interesting point. However, even though it's not cardio per se, the HRM calculates the calories based on weight and pulse rate (doesn't it?) I hope some of the gurus chime in. This is perplexing me.

Hmmm, but I think that'll grossly overestimate calories burned. For instance, I burned 451 calories in my 34 min cardio session today, followed by 90 minutes of weight training (9 different exercises, most at 4 sets/10 reps per set). If I used that same calories burn rare for my entire 2 hour workout, it would put me…

Thank you for the warm welcome! Definitely think I'll be liking it here. Yeah, the dilligent food logging is something I need to be disciplines with; in the past, I've logged religiously for a few weeks, then I figure "Oh, I'm on track, I don't need to do this part anymore.". But what I've found is that even on days when I…

Welcome! I'm trying to work toward doing a few 5k's this year as well!

Hey Sam! Welcome (from another new girl); wishing you much success on your journey to health!

Ohhh how I love/loathe the 30 Day Shred. That's my go-to DVD on days I can't make it to the gym. Good luck!! :)

This sounds amazing! Any idea on the fat content?

From what I understand, Insanity is really quite a notch up from P90X - P90X is rough enough, so if you can keep up with either of them, that's great!

SO true. Health is a lifestyle; prepackaged diets are merely a regimen.

That 'brisk walk' didn't factor in the 10% incline. That incline burns a LOT more calories than walking on flat ground (check your heart rate - you'll see!) That said, as suggested above, invest in a HRM to get more accurate counts (I wear mine, and compare it to the reading on the treadmill; the HRM is typically a bit…

Ah, good point!!

Me too! Great job, ladies!

I always use a base mix of baby spinach and mixed field greens - good flavor balance, and texture. For sweet and savory, I'll add feta crumbles, raw sunflower meat, diced red bell pepper, blueberries (or strawberries) and a drizzle of (high quality) Balsamic vinegar. If serving this for dinner, I'll sometimes add 4 oz of…

I love Pandora as well; it's perfect for working out.
