For me, lifting has been the ONLY thing that helps me keep my metabolism up. Ever since I turned 30, the amount of effort to lose the same amount of weight has become threefold. When I was in my late 20's, I could lose weight with just cardio but now my body needs something more.

Since I am a little skeptic of this, due to my inverted butt (lol), I will join. Maybe the before and after pictures will help me see a difference.

Do squat challenges actually work to increase the pack in the back? Whenever I do squats, it always seems my thighs get bigger instead.

I am a huge emotional eater when I'm stressed. Left to my own devices, I could probably down a bunch of fries, Jimmy John's sandwiches, cake, chocolate and ice cream in one sitting. I think I HAVE downed an entire carton of ice cream in one sitting. Of course, I was crying at the time...

Keto works wonders for people with epilepsy and even for cancer treatments. But the difference is, these people have severe medical disorders and life threatening issues where a diet like this may be necessary. But for the rest of us, I'm not sure. I considered going keto but when I looked at the carb restriction, it…

I think miranda would know what is more appropriate for her than any of us. Her bone structure could be very fine and extra weight may look very obvious on her body. I say this as a person who's had to deal with people freaking out on me because I lost 20 pounds a few years ago. Apparently, 155 pounds on 5'4" was "too…

Are we close? I'm also married, but no children.

I'm 31, 5'4", 164 pounds. "Apple" shaped, with PCOS and I work full time. It would be nice to have a buddy who'd check in once a week, send messages, email, swap recipes/exercises, etc. Any takers?

I made myself fat. I ate too much in order to cope with stress and depression. It got to the point where I stopped caring about my body, my health, and my looks. When my PCOS symptoms became out of control, I decided I didn't want to bleed to death and figured it would be a good time to lose weight.

I think it's more complicated than that. Weight loss can be much more complicated than we think. Everyone's physiology is different. Consider if a person has health issues, is going through stress, recovering from an injury, etc.-- counting cals is going to yield different results for them versus a person with good health.…

I was diagnosed in my mid-20's but experienced symptoms well before that. I don't use birth control because it didn't really help-- losing the weight was the best way to reduce/get rid of the symptoms. The insane bleeding ended up after I lost 15 pounds. My hair has been falling out a lot since then, so I have to eat well,…

PCOS here-- it seems no matter what I do, I can't lose more than 20 pounds. I'm 40 pounds overweight and it's frustrating to try to get past that hurdle. I've changed my strategy at the moment and have focused less on restricting my calories and more on making sure I eat the right foods and get appropriate physical…

Yup, I've been looking. It's tough out there in the job market, but I've been making progress. I'd say this has taken a large toll on my mental health, but now that the weather's been getting nicer it's easier to get out and do more physical activity.

I think I should point out I am not overeating-- hence why my initial weight loss is maintained. The problem is the stress takes over-- I'm too exhausted to get home and weigh food and prepare for the week and then incorporate that into exercise. The job search has taken up a lot of my time, too. I spend about 15-20 hours…

Thanks for the replies, ladies! To clarify the "ethnic diet"-- I mentioned I have an Asian background. I wasn't raised eating lots of meat or dairy. To this day, my diet primarily consists of brown rice, lots of veggies, tons of legumes, beans, and fruit here and there. My doctor mentioned sticking to this diet because…

Does anyone want to be email buddies? It's hard to lose weight on your own with PCOS especially when people don't understand the condition. I tend to do better with actual communicative support, somewhere around 2-3x a week. It's also nice to share recipe ideas, workouts, or just to have someone to vent to. If anyone's…

Yup, I meal plan every week and prelogging worked in the past as well.

This food scale idea sounds like a wise investment! I've never used it before and thought I could just keep using my measuring cups, but now they're driving me nuts.

Yeah there is hardly any space. I remember a friend of mine from high school gained 5 pounds over winter and lamented over how "overweight" she got and she never went beyond a size 6/7! She also has a gorgeous pear-shaped body and even does fitness modeling and body building! FIVE POUNDS! Then there's me with my 50. Ugh..

But you'd look soooo nice in dresses and skirts! I actually dislike wearing pants...darn muffin top and gut.
-
That's me, too! It's hard to feel feminine, even with big boobs. Do squats and butt exercises really help? I've had trainers tell me they wouldn't do anything for me because genetics determines how you look.
-
Ugh, but I hate that! My entire life all people do is comment on my "narrow hips" and then say how my upper body is soooo much bigger than my lower. I'd rather look more balanced. It's like I'm built like a domino or a square. Very little room for all the weight to spread out, and I have to be slightly underweight to look…

When I see taller women with broad shoulders, I always think of the statuesque and beautiful Charlize Theron.

People are uncomfortable with change. It scares the bejeebus out of them! I'd ignore her. What she did was nuts but others have been there before. At another site I read about how one woman's mom cussed her out endlessly when the poster asked her mom for the recipe of a food. She asked for the recipe so she'd know how many…

Get your thyroid checked, along with your FSH, TSH, progesterone, insulin, ferritin, hemoglobin, and testosterone levels.

That's what the people with Hashimoto's, PCOS, hypothyroidism and diabetes say.

When you are a New Yorker commuting to work, your total time spent in commute can be anywhere from 2-4 hours. I have relatives who struggle to stay active due to their commute and thankfully they can stand on the subway and buses to help.

ROFL I would change it up to "I AM GOING TO WORKOUT TILL THE RIGHT PARTS JIGGLE!!" hahahaha

Not ridiculous enough to prevent you from posting, I see. Who here has enabled? Who told the OP they shouldn't worry about having poor eating habits and it's all okay? Not a single person. People ask questions when they don't know and the OP has admitted he's made poor choices but would like to get some help about it. How…
